Are they going to wait and take the orange train that stuck on bottom of the lift when they fix this stupid chain lift issue or are they going to remove it themselves?

They are probably going to remove it themselves soon if this issue will last another several weeks.

I think he's saying the ride is so short they should take the opportunity and expand the ride

^Yes, I was poking fun at the ride's length. It's hard not to. Speaking of poking fun... Goliath's record for riders in one hour for all of last year was 703.

703 riders in one hour

That is actually impressive! Or at least I think it is. :)

I think that Six Flags is actually doing a nice job trying to fill in the trains and fill them up as quickly as possible. They aren't as good as WDW at keeping it moving, but compared to other rides the trains appear to be moving at a pretty quick pace without too many empty seats.

WDW is exceptional.
No other place compares to it in that department, like what other place can run four trains on a basic coaster that shouldn't have four trains
Or sending out coaster trains at 21 second intervals. Even though the trains hold six people and easy to check, 21 seconds is still practically unachievable at Six Flags

I agree! WDW is honestly very good at keeping their lines moving. For the amount of visitors if they didn't have an exceptional turnover on the rides it would be so less enjoyable. I'm not saying that Six Flags has to work to try to attain WDW status in that sense, but I do think that they're doing a nice job with Goliath and keeping the ride moving.

700 RPH is not that good. Eagle(assuming both sides are running 2 trains) has 1800 RPH. That's sad Goliath has such a low ride count.

Everyone complained about SF's locker policy but it worked miracles on ride counts. When I worked at the park there were times where even Demon could hit 900 RPH with only two trains.

I guess that if it's running 1:45 for each ride (not sure if this is 100% accurate--it's on Wikopedia) and they have 24 riders max/train the most riders you can get in any given hour is 822. So getting 703 doesn't seem too shabby. It ran at an 85% efficiency.

Math: 60 (minutes/hour) / 1.75 (time for each train to run) * 24 (max number of seats)= 822

If they ran multiple trains at a time then it would definitely change the equation, but I don't see SF running a train until one has finished it's run. I'm also unsure how they could come to the conclusion that American Eagle can run 1800 rph if each train takes 2:23 to complete.

Math: 60/2.38*30*2(blue and red)=1512

Maybe this is taking into consideration a 3rd train for each side and sending one before the completion of the previous train?

Olympia Looping running 7 car trains (only time of the year it does) frequently beats it's theoretic capacity of 3000 pph on busy nights.

Also Europa Park is fanatical about capacity, a good number of their coasters can move over 2000 pph running between 5-7 trains.

I was just at Kings Island a couple days ago and I rode Banshee 11 times, practically all in a row. And let me tell you, the fastest dispatch for a whole train was 19 seconds. 19 seconds!! Now, not all seats were taken, maybe about 80%, BUT STILL. Lockers does help, as all the riders were permitted to put on the platform was shoes (particularly flip flops) and most of the time the riders just threw them and got in. The operations were amazingly fast.

Goliath is the exact opposite :|

^^^ Sorry but may I ask what ride? You said Kings Island and that's the park, not an attraction. I'm assuming Invertigo, as I saw your post before about it. :)

It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle :?
Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? :P

The number of riders per hour that Wikipedia etc says is the MAXIMUM number of riders given that all trains are running and the ride is running at MAXIMUM efficiency and capacity.

Seeing as that is nearly impossible at a Six Flags park, rides will never reach that number, The whole reason for adding the ride lockers was not only to prevent theft but it helped with ride times since guests didnt have to waste time putting their stuff in a bin.

Regardless of what the park says, I don't really think Goliath is capable of running 1000 per hour like they originally said. 700 is actually not that bad considering it did about 400-500 throughout most of the season.

Batman is listed as having a capacity of 1200-1400 riders per hour. Considering that it reached 1100 per hour on year during fright fest, and that was considered really really good. The 1200-1400 is not possible. Batman averages about 800-1000 riders per hour.

Goliath is short for a reason. It packs a punch like Batman and there is simply no more space for it. Outlaw Run is actually about 200 feet shorter than Goliath. X Flight is the same length and has about the same ride time. Goliath feels short because it's going at 72 mph compared to 55 or 60 of X Flight and others.

Yes, it ripped off a reinforced steel beam... let's back it up into a non reinforced section and see what happens ;)

Ok well Goliath did NOT open today like they told me! Oh well, I know I shouldn't listen to random park employees. I remember last year on May 31st, it was the day Goliath ran its first test run & someone said that it would be open the next day.

Never, ever listen to any time estimate given by park employees, they know as much as you do. They don't tell the ride ops exactly what's going on because they don't want the public knowing.

Some of the ride operators from other rides didn't even know Goliath was closed! One girl on Whizzer started at me like I had three heads when I told her Goliath was closed and that it was closed for a week!

That is hilarious. They work at the park. There aren't 100 roller coasters. They should know what is up and running and what is not. Because obviously people will ask you and why do you want to look like an idiot who does not pay attention to what is going on around you.

Just the other day, I was checking if Raging Bull's Single Rider line was open(it wasn't, unfortunately). They told me only Superman and Goliath have one right now.
