And capacity is a nightmare.

Now it's a capacity hell (or "Inferno" hehe) since they're all closed down haha

I so was at the park looking at areas for a new coaster and thought about how straight demons ride plot is. I think it would be a great location for a maverick style launch coaster. Using the demon tunnel as part of the launch. From there where the corkscrews are plus the amphitheater space it would have plenty of space to create a tangled coaster track with lots of elements and a massive Tower to shoot up. I also think if they create this ride or any new coaster they need to lengthen them out. Building less track for more threw put is dumb. Make them longer with more trains. Everyone complains how short Goliath is, its about as long a v2, superman, x flight, demon, and batman I hate to see a ride with tons of momentum slam on the breaks, we need longer coasters in the world. Also lets face it, its time to let demon go.
While Shockwave was still SBNO towards the end of the '02 season, my pipe dream was for it to get the Phantom Treatment. I think of it as the steel precursor to Rocky Mountain Treatment as seen on Medusa and the two Texas Wooden Coasters. Phantom's Revenge was new in '01, and it was (and is) very damn good- so naturally, when the giant Arrow Megalooper (that I was quite fond of) started getting sliced up, I couldn't help but hope that they'd keep the giant lift and drop hovering over the entrance plaza and let Morgan work some magic with the relatively large plot of land it occupied, beginning with what used to be the ascent into the first loop, and perhaps neatly tying it all up with the little hop that came after the corkscrews and ending with the turn into the station brake run.
Once that never happened, and the lot was defiled, I again harbored unrealistic hopes that it might happen to Great American Scream Machine in NJ when GAdv announced that it was going out a few years later. That never happened, either (although they made much better use of the lot it stood on), so naturally, I'm looking at Viper on the West Coast (though I hope it sticks around for a good while longer). Since Six Flags seems fond of Rocky Mountaining anything that can be Rocky Mountain'd nowadays, and with Chance finding some success with Lightning Run, what better time to start harboring unrealistic hopes that Demon gets the Phantom Treatment/Chance'd?
Ideally, I'd like Demon to stay right where it is. There's no law mandating that in order to build a new roller coaster, you have to take one down.

Ideally you're right, but SFGAm is land locked on all 4 sides, especially now with the HH expansion next to Pictorium. They can't even push into that part of the guest parking lot anymore.
The only place they can push out of the current boundaries is through the Picnic Grove and into the employee parking lot. But even that's not much space to work with. (And employees need somewhere to park)
I'd love to see them re-develop BB and karts into two better attractions, but they're both pretty new. I'm guessing the places most likely to be re-developed are Demon and Flumes.

How does one make a car launch upwards when Giant Drop only has catch wagons?

You could build rides through rides. Look at Blackpool, Nick Universe, Knott's, Hersheypark, and Kennywood among others.

But you still need enough room for station, queue, etc. I really don't think you could build through any rides. They could get rid of gift shop at entrance to Orleans place and use that as station and queue. Sending a coaster through Orleans place. But that won't happen
They could do something with Eagle due to its layout and the open space near it, but the rest of the coasters are too tightly wound up on themselves and/or don't have enough open space near them for another ride.
So the 2015 announcement is coming in just over a month. Do you think the park will do teaser videos since Brandon is no longer here? If so they would prolly start them next week Thursday so it lines up with the announcement date. I guess we will see!
JimPanky wrote:Im guessing not. For one I dont expect 2015 to be as epic as 2014 obviously.
My bets are on it not even being a ride. If it is, it's going to be something every other park in the chain has been getting. Like Sky Screamer, that lame swing ride which name escapes me, or even more kiddie stuff.
Although we all hate to admit it, our park is a tad short on small children activities.
If it is going to be a sky screamer, they will need to get a height variance (Unless the sky Screamer is under 125 feet, but I highly highly doubt they would do that lol) If we did get a Sky Screamer, I wonder how tall they would make it? push it to the max of 330 ft or make it around 265 ft.

I'm thinking it will probably be at least 2 more weeks before anything comes out.

Just because Brandon doesn't work at the park anymore doesn't specifically mean that there won't be any teaser videos. Besides, he's not the only one who put them together last year. From my understanding, Dylan (David from the 2014 teasers) is the one who actually edits most if not all of the youtube videos.

If it is a Sky Screamer, we'll know. Just keep an eye on Gurnee's website.

I would expect something more along what SFFT has done thus far. It's just a picture in their Rockville area of the park. Then it asks if we see anything different #SFFT2015
It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? (Sorry in advance for unnecessary commas and parenthesis every where)
Alright, so I was looking at the map for some future expansion spots, and found one that could fit a decent sized coaster, and is longer than found area. So you all say Demon, Pictorium, and SWAT are some things on the chopping block, right? Well, take out all three and...
It might be hard to see, but I marked with red where the edges would be. From Pictorium, down the train tracks, around/under/over Bulls turnaround, across demon area, and a turnaround at corkscrews/SWAT area. It could be a giga or a hyper that actually has airtime(who says we can't have 2 hyper in one park?), or just expansion. Its a ton of land that's in the park.

Agreed, it's a long narrow corridor that would be great for an out and back airtime machine.

If they were going to do something like that, they could in theory even go around Sky Trek Tower, like California's Great America did with Gold Striker.

Theoretically, could six flags put a skyscreamer in the helix of the eagle? I know it would be impossible to do because of where it's at, but if they did choose to do that would the space be large enough?
