WOW! hopefully, the fire was not directed caused by the ride itself. Hopefully, it was a light fixture or something. Repairing what is a very old roof is easy. It was good to hear that the Media Day is now scheduled again. Assuming that stays that way despite a roof fire! I really hope this ride doesn't turn into DejaVu?! I know that most of the delays have been caused simply because of bad weather, but it seems like the park keeps hitting bad luck with this thing!
Can this ride possibly have any more setbacks? At least it is not the ride itself, because I just about had a heart attack when I saw the post about the coaster being on fire on my FB scanner page.
Statement from Six Flags Great America posted on Marcus Leshock's Facebook page:
"Earlier today there was a small fire on the roof of the Goliath station. Park personnel quickly contained and extinguished the fire and Gurnee Fire department then responded to investigate. The roof sustained minimal damage and there were no injuries. This will not affect the opening or future operation of the ride."
Reading the article makes me feel a lot better. Everything is still on schedule. Media Day set for June 18th. My birthday is June 20th and that could very well be the public opening date! Goliath!

Does that mean the ride will be open to the public on the 19th?

Were they doing any shingle work up there? I have heard of the tar catching fire at times with roof work.
Still waiting for my conformation email from ACE for the June 18th media day. Hopefully within the next day or two. I hope this will finally be it! It's been ridiculous how many plans I have changed and moved around for this coaster. But I know it'll be worth it
Can a coaster perform voodoo? Cause Iron Wolf must be doin some sh**. What else could set you back? An earthquake? Lightning? A new plague? This ride is not the best with the press is it?
I give up Goliath, I'll see you after you open whenever the hell that may be.
Glad no one was hurt let alone the damage was minor but damn.

Awesome POV! Hopefully Goliath will be testing this weekend, it would be cool to see it test in person!
Well, the only chance I had of riding Goliath was this weekend before leaving town, but obviously it's not opening, so now to wait until August to ride Goliath, but I'm sure the wait will be worth it
Does it bug anyone else that one of the handrails towards the top of the lift is warped? I don't mean because safety obviously, but because it looks out of place
So I'm confused about one thing. If they have the commercial shoot on the 14th and media day the 18th, is the ride just going to stay closed for the days in between till media day? Makes no sense! Have media day before the commercial shoot!
