Sorry I was wrong its June 1st. I thought I remembered the sign saying 2. Yeah the ride opening properly is their top priority obviously. Erts can be worried about later.
Is it safe to say the ride will be open to the public by next Monday (June 2nd) since the midnight ERT is happening before then? I was planning for this coming Friday but I'll try and make it for next Monday since there isn't a pass preview. I know we really don't know much until the park officially announces something (probably sometime this week), but I usually have to make plans about a week ahead of time due to my schedule. Can't wait to ride it and see how it compares with my favorite coaster, Outlaw Run!

I don't think it is even safe to say the ride will be open for Sunday night/Monday morning ride-time. No one knows what the next 7 days will bring, especially with at least some rain in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday. We all have to wait and see.
I enjoy guessing at these things, so I'm going to guess that the media day will be cancelled/pushed back. I don't even want to guess what will happen for Sunday...it's too far away.
It will be interesting to see what happens if Goliath isn't ready for Sunday night. The park would have 2 options: cancel the ride time or substitute another ride(s) to replace Goliath. Cancelling the ride time could be risky as some might not check the internet to see if ride time is cancelled before heading out to the park that day...that could be bad, so it may be best to just substitute another ride(s). Of course, this is just rampant speculation (part of the fun of the internet!), and hopefully it will be ready, but it definitely will be interesting to see what happens if the ride isn't ready by next Sunday.
Keep in the mind the following! They JUST COMPLETED the track yesterday! So, the ride is now fully tracked with just grout and electrical work still to do. At this point, there are no signs of the second red train. All we keep seeing is the orange one! This almost confirms that ONLY one train will be available on the Media Day event. I am hearing that the commercial shoot is on that Friday, again likely with one train. These are things that Great America can get done with everything being complete. They want to start advertising right away!
XFlight needed to be test over 1000 times per train before it opened. Not sure if that is the same for Goliath but hopefully they can start testing it by tomorrow. We know for a fact that they will have the ride ready for the midnight premiere on June 1st...will it be open to the public that Sunday when the park opens at 10:30? Perhaps, but again, likely running only 1 train!
RMC has been working over 100 hours the past few weeks to get this done. Keep in mind that if they didnt work overtime, this ride would likely not be complete until July or later! Be greatful. I am sure Great America might do a special ERT for season pass holders or gold pass holders like an hour before the park opens for Goliath at somepoint...they did some of those last year so we shall see! It is what is.
I was being told that the Season Pass Preview day was initially moved to Saturday since commercial would be Friday, but now its cancelled all together. It is what it is! No use crying over spilled milk! I hope to get to the park soon and ride it!

We don't know anything for a fact - we know they WANT to have the ride ready, and they probably will - but it's not a fact...
Volunteer riders needed for Goliath on Friday, May 30 for commercial shoot. Riders must: - Be at least 18 years of age - Be available to be at Great America this Friday, May 30 at 8:30 a.m. OR 1:00 p.m. - Be able to ride Goliath multiple times, back to back If you are interested, send an e-mail with your head shot, height, shirt size, contact information and preferred time (8:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.) to OfficialSFGreatAmerica@gmail.com
I'll have to sit this one out. This sprained ankle continues to sabotage everything, I don't know if I'll even be able to go to Media Day, and definitely no way my ankle will hold up 2 days in a row.

I feel like there's actually only 2-3 "facts" in this post and a lot of things that have been guessed by people on the internet. But its nice to see all of the guesses in one place.

Could be that they think that by Thursday/Friday, they can do the bare minimum to run the ride for a few hours for media day and the commercial, but they won't have enough people trained to run it all day, or something like that. Also could be that they could only get one train done and they want to try to get two before opening it to the public? Assuming they do get it running for media day, I would guess that the ride would be running all weekend, but empty. All just guesses, of course, but so are most of what people are saying...
Great America posted on Facebook today that this Friday (5/31/14) is when they are going to film the commercials for Goliath. They were looking for people to volunteer. The times are at 8:30am and 1:00pm. I signed up for 1:00pm. I'm sorry that I don't have a link for this. I am using my phone. Just go on Facebook and you will find the info for the event.
Just curious, I know this commercial shoot is coming up for Goliath, but has the park done any advertisements on TV and radio for this ride? If they wanted to show footage of something beforehand, they could have used New Texas Giant or Iron Rattler for certain shots.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Commercials have been running already for at least a couple of weeks and I've also see billboards all over the city for it as well. Commercials are using the computer animation just like they did for X-Flight, then once commercial is filled they will switch it out with actual video.
I just sent in my headshot, hope I get picked! Me and my sister did the IgNight shoot last year, and it was a blast. Just wondering how long these shoots go for. I signed up for the 8:30 AM one, does anyone have any insight from X-flight or Viper? Wondering because I have an interview that same day at 3!
I did 2012 X flight commercial as well as 2013 IgNight- and made it to the final version, closing the commercial lol. I wander if that increases my chance to get re-picked.
Six Flags Ameirca as the number 1 park at SFI.... this is JOKE!
Not to turn this thread into an "i did xyz commerical" resume thread, but i did batman backwards (both shifts) viper backwards, and we did a quick "impromptu" commerical on ragin cajun for fright fest and later that night we did a fun but grueling ignite shoot. I doubt i'll get chosen for this goliath shoot cause my headshot sucked this time but i hope i will be one of the lucky first to ride this doggone thing!
