Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I may have missed this but has any more been said about when (and if) they are doing the Goliath Midnight premiere for the folks with Gold Tickets that were handed out at various construction tours and events?

Not Goliath, but a beautiful sight nonetheless. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

^ I wish that were actually true. They're keeping everything that is still up. They've already started putting new lights on it. :(

I don't think it's any big secret (although oddly it doesn't seem to currently be on the website), it's for "Six Flags Grand Finale, a nighttime show and parade in Hometown Square". I'm pretty sure I saw this advertised around the park too. Any further talk of this probably should go to a different thread...

RMC is going in reverse at the moment. All the Zero-G Stall supports are being removed from the arch.

Heh, looks like the pieces don't fit. That's why you hire real engineers...

Are we sure it's not temporary scaffolding (by that I mean for the structure not for the workers) being removed? I doubt it, but I just thought I'd throw that out there.

Well actually RMC is just a construction company that used Ride Centerline for the layout design/engineering. It appears as if they outsourced the design for the steel structure. It's a smaller company so chances are they didn't put much effort into tolerance testing, which would account for the problems they are having with pieces going up and down. They may have to unbolt and lift that zero G stall and hold it there while they put the last piece up at the top. That lifting of the Zero G stall would account for them removing those supports for the track.

I'm not an engineer so don't take my word...but it's just a hunch.

They also wouldn't push back the opening until they have a confirmed, second opening day. So chances are if it's opening late, which I honestly feel is the case, they won't say anything until right before May 29th.

Seems like RMC is having difficulty with the lift hill and they zero G stall.

What's the problem?

I don't think this is true (and if it is, it's a big PR blunder). They were on TV yesterday mentioning the May 29th date, so this isn't just some rumor on messageboards anymore. When the date was just 'this summer', nobody could complain, but now if they miss a public date there'll be some backlash.

I hope there are no serious problems with the lift or the arch....Worst case: the whole structure (lift and arch) doesn`t fit and they have to fabricate new pieces which would mean the ride opens late August:-(

I hope that's not the case! It does appear that some of the pieces don't fit the structure which is why they are taking it apart.

An issue is an issue though. PR can't just magically open a ride for media day if it's not ready. From observing everything at this point, it is clear they are behind and have run into an issue.

No one knows what will end up happening. It is clear they ran into an issue with the lift hill supports and they are falling behind. They seem to be getting through it just fine however I still wouldn't be surprised if the ride opens a week or two later than May 29th. :(

All we can do is HOPE for the BEST!

And that's fine. My point is, they should have said on TV "it's opening this summer" and left it at that. And if they know now it won't make it, they should let people know ASAP - every story that comes out that says May 29th would just make the issue worse.

Whole ride including the structure was designed by Ride Centerline LLC, small company, but it's headed up by Alan Schilke. He knows his stuff, though you never know who did the actual calcs at the company. IF there is a problem and it's related to the structure, I'm going to guess it'd be more of a manufacturing error rather than design flaw.

I feel like were going to see this thing topped off today, I don't understand why they would have the crane fully erect if they weren't going to use that height. We'll just have to wait and see!

Well RMC usually works till 5:00pm so I doubt we will see the lift topped off till tomorrow. Also they seem to be having issues with the supports so I don't think they will add anything to the structure until they fix the problem.
