Let's all keep our fingers crossed that Goliath gets finished by the end of the week. This includes the lift hill and inverted zero gravity stall completed. Hopefully then next week we see the trains arrive at the park so they can start testing.
According to a Sun Times article (I'm on my phone so I'll have to find the link later) Katy Enrique said that Goliath is on schedule to be topped off this week.

I am still a little skeptical that they will have this open by May 30th. Even if they top it off by the end of the week they still have a lot of other work to be done before they can even test. I guess we will have to wait and see.

It says in the article:
Hank Salemi, president of the amusement park in Gurnee, was watching as crews worked on the 165-foot lift hill and said Goliath is scheduled to open to the general public on May 31, which would be four weeks after the park’s opening weekend.
May 31st (and media day on the 29th) is definitely pushing it, but they seem really confident that they can get everything done in time.

Agree! They still have to fill the track with grout, have to complete the inverted zero gravity stall/roll, finish the electric system for the brakes, lift hill etc. The trains also have to arrive at the park. We will have to wait and see. Even though I am very confident that the ride will be ready by the 31st, I would not be surprised if it gets pushed back another week.
Unless they've changed the article (which they might have, as it does have a "updated" date), there's no inconsistancy - Memorial Day is the 26th (and when they say "Memorial Day", they mean "Memorial Day Weekend"), and Hank says the 31st, which is a week past that.
I'm more amused by the quote (not from the park, so they can't be blamed for it) that “They don’t have RMC’s like this in the Midwest (or) on the East Coast, as a matter of fact. They’re all usually in Texas or Mexico.”

I agree with that quote. RMC's are a new breed of wooden coaster, and for our park to get such a rare treat goes to show how special are park really is! Are park also seems to be a B&M magnet for some of their more exotic coasters as well. I'm grateful we got such a great coaster collection, and an RMC in our collection will really be AWESOME!

That wasn't the funny part - Outlaw Run, the coaster which is most like Goliath, is in Missouri, which is in the Midwest. Yes, there are two in Texas and one in Mexico (that's not even open yet), but they're all renovations of existing coasters, so it's not really quite the same thing.
It's hard to tell but are those black belts I see on the seats? Doesn't matter though. I rode Outlaw Run with seat belts a few weeks ago and it didn't affect the ride whatsoever.

Actually, that "black thing" I might be seeing is the brown padding on the bottom of each seat, not a seat belt. The cars look great though!

GREAT to see the trains have arrived! I'm 95% sure those black things are seatbelts. Please don't worry, having seatbelts will NOT effect the ride in any way!
Honestly I kinda wanted seat belts in a way just for safety. Honestly I can't see why it would hinder the ride experience though with how the restraints are already

Exactly. The seat belts didn't ruin the ride experience on Outlaw Run at all for me. The only thing it did was slow down the load times a bit but SDC's crews work a tad slower than most parks because they're more cautious.
