I completely agree! The station will look beautiful based on the drawings.
DejaVu2001 wrote:The issue is the drawing of the station doesn't show any extension
Another thing that is confusing is that generally, structural modifications get done before they'd start working on decorative stuff.
That's what I was trying to point out. It would be a shame if the extension was just an add-on platform with a longer overhang. And since they are not doing any major structural modifications, what other options are there for accommodating the train?
I never noticed that the top of the new station design has "MMXIV" etched into the sides which is "2014" in Roman numerals.

I know it is probably a money saver, but in my opinion, they should have torn down this station and started from scratch. This station house was built when Z-Force went in.
They could have created a nice themed station, but instead it will just be some theming attached to a station that is out of place. Oh well, it won't take away from the ride.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

In my personal opinion, it does not matter what the station really looks like. The station for Goliath as of now looks completely fine.
^Which is why I said it is not going to take away from the ride. I just felt this station has run its course with 2 previous coasters. Not complain about it, just felt a new station was in order for this coaster.

You might be right about this. The old station building does seem a bit out of place. Sure it's being decorated to fit the Greek/Roman theme, but the structure itself is more modern or traditional. I think it should of looked like the Goliath station at SFMM.

The Goliath @ SFMM has a jungle theme to it and our Goliath has a Roman theme.
Jacklw6499 wrote:Hopefully they also expand the back of the station because it was really cramped back there..
They need to do that and also give more room on the side with the row sorters. Facing towards American Eagle, the station should be expanded in the back and on the left (towards the employee parking lot).

I noticed that too. It is strange, but an image of Goliath should be back there, not Iron Wolf.

I wonder if the station concept art was created before the ride concept was, thus the artist just used what was in place previously. The artist might have even made that art when Iron Wolf was still standing and just drew what he saw just to have a coaster in the background.
One from 4/15/14 (lift rising, Dive loop not finished):
4/16/2014 - Dive Loop tracked to the ground (Shot late afternoon into the sun/ quality not great):
Here is a shot of the lift structure before it is built in the parking lot. Shipping flat and erected on site. Workers were building them outside of site.:

The artist probably drew the station design based off an older photo when Wolf was still standing and just changed the look of the station when drawing it based on what the park wanted for the theme. Some artists in my school do that for our design class with other things such as buildings or parks. They take an old photo and recreate it on paper but with their own modifications.
^Also, great photos as always, Rob!

It's great to see the dive loop complete, it is also great to see the lift hill starting to rise! I can't wait until it reaches its full height and is topped off. The only thing to do after that would be the drop.

http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=yout ... 6QSivH4vAE A new video on Goliath construction. In the video, you can see that they will be expanding the station towards the exit queue/ramp, they have the frame for it up already.
First off, thank you for the video Iron Wolf 90-11. We really appreciate it. Second why are there so many small sections of the track that aren't painted orange?

The track is not painted orange at all....it is actually a piece that goes over the the track that is bolted into place. The sections that are not on yet are left open so the track can be filled with the compound that helps with noise reduction.
Sorry for the poor quality. I just took a screen shot from the video of the extension of the station in the back.
Oh, and go Blackhawks!

They must only be extending the back half then. It'll be interested to see how this all turns out. Hopefully this changes help make the station more orderly then it was during IW.
