I love that photo! This ride is so massive yet almost looks ...small because of its location. Its so crazy!

Those weren't wood. They're steel columns. We won't know exactly where they are until we have photos from inside the park, but they're supporting the inside of the Overbank/Twist & Shout structure.

Here we go:

I also find it interesting that the top layer of track is being put on in pieces. I'd love to know the reasoning behind that as it seems like it'd be easiest to put it all on and then install the track.

I think it has something to do with them filling the inside of the topper track after all the track is in place. I'm not sure though.

I am starting to worry about weather or not Goliath will open on May 24th. They still have a long way to go. They have to finish topping off the over banked turns, they have to finish the dive loop, zero g stall and the lift hill. They also have the station to work on and Thrill Seekers (the new Goliath gift shop). As far as I know most roller coasters need at least 3 weeks of testing. If the ride gets completed by the end of April or the beginning of May (which I am starting to have doubts about) then they will meet their deadline. Taking a look at the webcam today, they haven't done any work on the ride from what I can see. I am just not 100% sure SFGAm will be able to meet the deadline.

That's because today's Sunday, RMC doesn't work on Sundays usually...

The crew almost never works on Sundays. It's their day off. Also, the station/queue renovation and gift shop are being worked on by the park, not RMC's crews which builds the actual ride. Almost all of the wooden bents are completed which means most of the remaining supports are steel so they should be assembled fairly quickly. The track seems like it can be placed pretty quickly since they are already built and just need to be bolted into place.

They have the rest of this month and even a week into next month to get everything done in time for testing. I wouldn't worry too much, but even if they do have to delay the ride a week, they still did a good job considering the winter we had. Another thing to keep in mind is that not everything (besides the ride itself, obviously) has to be completed for it to test. In other words, the park can still work on the gift shop and station while it's testing in May.

A lot of what's being done can't be seen from the webcam. The lift hill is being built out of sight in the parking lot, and the queue, gift shop, and much of the station are blocked by trees. In fact, the lift hill already went vertical and the gift shops structure is nearly complete, but you wouldn't be able to tell from looking at the webcam. So as of now, I don't think there's cause for concern.

The gift shop is easy to see, the lift hill piece is pretty hidden but it's there in the structure of the dive loop.

On the way out of the goliath tour Saturday I snapped a picture(no I was not driving) of the lift hill being assembled....so the lift hill has started being constructed but not onsite of goliath.

Im excited to ride it but who cares when it opens. I could care less if it takes a little longer. And I do feel like they are moving pretty good. If its delayed it wont be by much.

Do you have to be invited to a construction tour or just show up?

Well, Deja Vu was delayed pretty much an entire season(it opened during Fright Fest) due to mechanical and structural faults. And on top of that, some people actually sued Great America for lying about opening dates and other things like that. Let's just hope the same thing happens with Goliath.

I find RMC designs very interesting. It looks like there will be airtime on the way up into the overbank.
