until fairly recently GCI designed coasters using only a calculator and graph paper, still think they don't use CAD, but the spreadsheets are at least on a computer now. Classic coaster design was actually fairly simple, didn't turn complicated until people started caring about rider center-lines and legitimate G Load testing came about.

That's a good point. It seemed like many coasters back in the day were simple out and backs.

I remember that the park said that they had hoped to top off Goliath in early to mid march. Since the structure for the lift hill will go up very quickly, I wouldn't be surprised if we see the lift hill go up very soon. Probably in the next two weeks. Then after that, the rest of the ride should go up pretty quickly.

^^ I'd guess probably more like 2 weeks to finish the overbanked turn. Remember, they've been working on the Twist & Shout for 5 weeks and are just finishing that today.

The entire ride including the station most likely won't be finished till late April.

I can get behind a late april guess for the ride being structurally complete. they've been working on this turn for well over a month and it's not even halfway done yet. Rest should go up pretty quick though, it's all much simpler.

from the looks the twist and shout is complete and seems to be being painted! There also seems to be more bents ready to be risen into place for the over banked turn! Hopefully the dive loop won't take to long to complete, Other than the dive loop the lift should easily be done with in a wk or 2

At the rate the construction process is going and seeing how SLOW they are moving, I am having a hard time believing they will meet their deadline which is supposed to be May 24th. Goliath probably won't open until the middle of June at the rate their going.

I love how people say this kind of thing without having any actual idea of the planned schedule. May 24th is almost three months away. I wouldn't worry too much yet.

It will be done long before that. Don't worry. It gets done when it gets done.

Can't wait till May 24th!!!

But you did it based on no actual knowledge of how fast it was supposed to go or if they are on schedule or how long the rest of it would go, and you made up an entirely random date of "mid-June" (again based on nothing). I don't want so sound like a jerk, but when you "think Goliath will be completed" is totally meaningless if you have no actual info or experience. It's not like you're saying what you think your favorite ride is or something, you're making a (very likely incorrect) statement on an actual concrete fact, and that just gets annoying after a while. (Also, not sure if you intended this, but you seem to be complain about the fact that they're going slow, and that's just silly, as somebody else said - have you been outside this winter?)

Calling everyone a "HATER" would be qualified as "RUDE".
You've been making bold assertions and acting extremely defensive anytime someone calls you out on it.

How come you guys aren't giving CoasterMike a hard time when he said "I think the entire ride won't be done till late April"?

Hopefully sometime this week SF will post pictures on Facebook or Twitter of the construction. Can't wait to see how they are coming along. It has been a harsh winter and yet they still manage to work through it all.

Because CoasterMike is making a prediction based on previous knowledge of what's going on at the construction site, not just making a random post to start controversy. He's making a SMART prediction

#1 . The entire ride being done by late April fits within the announced timeline, so it's not as out there of a statement. Also, he didn't arbitrarily set a new opening date for the ride.

#2. He's less annoying about it than you are. It's not always what you say but how you say it.

Also add on the stupid comment about these guys working slow. You have absolutely no idea what goes on when building something like this. On top of that RMC has been out there working 6 days a week, sometimes more, in this terrible weather day in and day out. Even further are the ridiculous comments about the structure being bad for the design of the lift.

Well its insulting to rip RMC who is doing a great job. Its only natural for people to get upset when you go after RMC.
