If that happens to be the case, then that would give them about a month to test. Also I bet the trains will arrive by Easter.
They are placing more track down into the tunnel right now.

I am not an expert in construction but I think the main reason why they decided to use a steel supports for the lift hill was space. There is not much space in that area and I think if they used wood it may have been too wide to fit in that spot without interfering with Spacely's.
I honestly think they just wanted to be persistent with shock value & be iconic haha.
Many people say SF isnt smart, but they truly can be sometimes. Release "false" images of your new groundbreaking roller coaster, capture the World's attention once. Release your iconic, true design you had planned all along 6months later - Capture the World's attention AGAIN. Smart marketing if you ask me.
I do not believe it was a space issue. It was clearly a choice to have an open first drop and especially the stall. This will add to their experience. And hiding this until this time was strategically chosen to combat pr of other 2014 coasters as previously mentioned.

Even if they used the "original" lift hill, it wouldn't interfere with Spacely's.

That structure will nearly double in size height wise once the overbank turn is finished.

No problem, Mike! I love to see the progress they're making. I never realized the tedious work it takes to build a woodie. Makes me appreciate The Eagle builders all the more, especially that massive helix! I also love how they found another "David"
I think there's just as much wood in American Eagle's helix as the entire ride of Goliath.

Whoa I've never seen those pics before. Thanks for posting. That is insane! And then being a racing coaster, it's like having to build two coasters at once. I initially wanted Goliath to be longer, but I change my mind!

I can't even begin to imagine how HARD building American Eagle was. It was built at a time when there was no computers and scientific calculators.

I totally agree. I was gonna say that the tools, technology and methods they used back then are probably obsolete, and even today, building one is quite the endeavor even with all the new technology, which makes me respect these woodie construction crews even more! When I was watching construction on x-flight, it seemed like everytime I refreshed the page, there was another huge section of track hoisted into place.
