I hope that the snow we have been getting lately has been effecting the construction process on Goliath.

I dont think its the snow, but the cold... Those heavy machines and single digit temps probably dont work well.

They work fine in the cold. The only thing that can slow down or stop work is wind.

That's not very nice. Why are you being mean to Mike? He is just asking some good questions about Goliath. This is his thread that he created so its his thread.

I was simply making a joke making light of the fact that Mike is constantly asking questions about when everything is gonna happen in the future. And its always things that don't have deadlines set in stone. We really don't know for sure when these things are go. Goliath you weren't around the beginning of this season to see Mike really in action on this one. We all want to see Goliath up soon as possible. At the beginning of each season we all wanna see all the coasters get all their trains asap. When rides are down we all wanna see em come back up soon as possible. But all of the above will happen when they happen. We can guess when but well probably be wrong anyways.

I want to apologize for asking too many questions that really no one knows the answer to. I was asking those questions just to keep this Goliath forum active. I will for now on STOP asking questions constantly that no one knows the answer to.

Don't worry about it. I accept and appreciate your apology however, I do need to stop asking questions that no one knows the answer to. I know I was being annoying and I will stop.

Since Goliath will be a wooden roller coaster, I wanted to know why wooden roller coasters get rough and why the track/supports sway alot more than steel coasters.

well that is the difference between steel and wood. Wood has a rougher surface than steel, it doesnt have a 100% consistent shape it has knots and bumps and some air pockets, it bends and changes with the coasters passing over it or wind blowing. Steel has a smooth surface, is solid throughout, holds the shape you make it into very consistently, and it is harder to move by the coasters going over it and wind and stuff.
So the answer is those differences in ride experience are really results of the material differences of wood and steel.

Wood roller coasters are also effected by their enviroment. The wood expands and contracts as the weather changes. For example when it is hot or raining the wood will expand which will cause the ride to go slightly faster. When it is cold the wood contracts which will cause the ride to go slightly slower. Also riding a wooden roller coaster is different depending on what time in the day you ride it. If you were to ride American Eagle or Viper in the morning, the ride will be smoother than in the aftermoon or evening. The reason why the ride will be rougher later in the day is because the trains are constantly running along the track wich causes the track and supports to move/sway.

CoasterMike, JimPanky doesn't have much reason to call you out anyway, since he posts a ton in just about every thread. I know I'm just completing the cycle here by calling out Jim, but I don't want anybody feeling bad about what he says.

Awesome video, BTW is that trench that they dug out and put siding on enough to fit two tunnels or should I say enough room for two pieces of track lying side by side?

WOW!!! It's looking more and more like a roller coaster the further they progress with the construction.
I can't wait to see more! :D

If the smaller hills look that impressive, imagine what the large elements are going to look like. I'm pumped!

That airtime hill looks a lot bigger than it did in the animation. This is going to be a HUGE ride!
