Well, talking with various Sup's at the park, V2 will almost definately be closed opening day(for those working out your strategy for your first rides of the year), and it can not re-open til the new supports have been added (they are supposedly sitting in the parking lot and have for a while now).
Although it's not opening on opening day is related to other problems stemming from it's manufacturer, the new supports are a secondary concern at the moment

I would have thought that one of the crazy park-stalkers would have noticed these supports by now.
I have also heard that V2 will not be open for opening day. But I have heard that they are working on getting Deja Vu up and running on opening day. Also there WAS a slight chance that the new for 2004 rides would not be open for opening day. But now that has changed and they are looking forward to opening all the NEW rides on May 1st 2004.
If I recall correctly... Chicago was called the "Windy City" not because of winds, but because they were bragging about something with a World's Fair, or such... so that argument up there is rather flawed.
Let the people who know what they're doing do their job. How many of those who say it doesn't need supports are even out of high school?
I don't know what year, but at one time prices at the Chicago Board of Trade use to flucuate alot that the stock broker coined the city as the "Windy City"
To end the debate, I took a Urban History Class that was all about the history of Chicago last semester.
Chicago was called the windy city because it was chosen above 6 other major US cities to host the Columbian Exposition (World's Fair) in 1893 (401 (1 year late) years after Columbus 'discovered' the Americas). It was to be the biggest convention ever. Chicago was picked over New York to hold the exposition so New Yorkers started calling Chicago the 'Windy City' because Chicago was bragging that they got to host the fair (Think hot air and lying-"Your full of hot air"). The far was the size of a small city (Field Museum is one of the original buildings) and attracted over 10 million people.
Now to avoid getting this topic locked we'll end the discussion at that.
If V2 does have to be modified we will be seeing a large crane in there sometime soon. I really do hope it is open May 1st because I plan my day around that ride.
It's definitely getting new supports. Parts have all ready showed up for S:UE at GL. S:UE and V2 are the same ride except for paint and theming, so if one needs the supports, they both need them

Well thats not nessecarily true in all cases......but it's lookin pretty good in this situation.
CP has has had the supports for the past year (maybe 2 now, not exactly sure), they really dont reduce sway a whole lot, they just stop the swaying alot faster than it stops on it's own. Saves a bit of stress on the many hundreds of weleded joints that make up the Intamin track.
Also as for no one seeing the supports, they would be bars about 10-15 feet long and solid primer gray, no flanges on them, they are welded directly to the track and support, only the most expierienced SFGAm stalker would have seen them and knew what they are for
Also I get the feeling people are picturing a huge massive re-supporting of the entire ride, for refecence (ours will be way different with the shorter support structure) but they are shown in this pic

They are the 2 bright yellow supports that are not part of the track that pop out of the Green main support and attach to the track.
Not exactly something for people to soil their pants over
(ours will most likely be even smaller than those)

Wouldn't Intamin provide the extra support bars allready painted Yellow, as almost all coaster parts come prepainted. Maybe they will use left over batman paint.

You talking about the big green things sitting around?
