After this season, Ragin Cajun is off to Six Flags America part of a retheme of that park's "Southwest Territory"

Anyway with the Loss of Iron Wolf and Ragin Cajun (ironically both to SFA) That lead us to ask

Which Ride do you think is Next to go?

Wanted to say the flumes, since we have Hurricane Harbor and that's about the only removal that would give us a ton of space for future additions. But they seem to invest a lot into those. So I guess Chaos? I think Demon and Whizzer are here to stay for a while. Orbit should be an option because I think that one will be the next to go.

My vote is for Chaos. Everything else on the list I can make a case for why it would stay, but KC is kind of a forgotten ride. Really the only thing it adds to the park is that it's an inverting flat ride.

I think KC will stay to keep the park's flat ride collection up. My vote goes to demon, just because it's so outdated and rough. They'd be able to put in a good sized ride in it's place too.

I think that in the future as parts for Arrow loopers become harder to find, they will slowly disappear. Demon will be one of them, and especially with the addition of Goliath its ridership will plummet in the future, not that it's overly strong now. It'll be the next to go, though I think everything in Mardi Gras may have a bit of trouble ahead.

KC is one of the best flats in the park, has a small footprint, and a pretty high capacity for a flat ride.

I rode King Chaos once a few years back, and again at last year's Fright Fest. Although it packs a visual punch, I can't tell you how boring of a ride experience it was for me. No falling "tummy sensation" at all, and it was just.... slow.. slow all around. Most of the time it didn't 't even flip over completely -- it just rocked from front to back, like a big rocking chair. Lame. I won't ever get on it again.

I feel as though Demon will go. The fact that Ragin' Cajun is leaving they will need something in that area at least til something is placed in RC's location. I agree with others it is probably one of the best flats we have.

ChiGuy they have 8 different setting for that ride. You must have caught it on one of the lessor setting days. They have some good programs in it. It really depends on the operator that day.

The demon is not worth rebooting. It offers a HUGE space which is in the middle of the park. We could have something awesome there. That would bring traffic through that area. As of right now I hardly ever go over there. I go around and go through southwest. I feel if Goliath has a good season next year, I feel like demon is out next. Demon has a LONGGGG history at the park. It will be hard to part for sure.

I like the original concept of Demon, but I agree the ride is dated at this point. I would love if they could rebuild a whole new ride with today's technology with a similar theme and maybe add fire/mist effects, bring back a new verson of the blood waterfall and either keep the name Demon or call it something similar like Diablo or even a launch coaster called Speed Demon.

I like it but when you say launched do you mean like Maverick or do you mean like Mr Freeze? Full circuit or certain point and reverse?

roaring rapids has always been there. They will continue to keep it there. It is just unfortunate to have a entrance there. I hardly see people riding the balloons and I rarely see people in line for king chaos. I feel like the Mardi Gras theme kind of plummeted hard over the last few years.

I was definitely thinking more in the direction of Maverick. Maverick already has the cavernous feel that the demon has in my opinion. A new tunnel for demon could be a launch tunnel also!

^Public outcry didn't save the Whizzer, Shockwave did.

That said, I don't think Whizzer will be the next to go, either. It would likely be a pain in the ass to move and care for in another park that isn't our own. With the last two rides being part of Six Flag's new interest in Ride Rotation, I wouldn't see Demon going anywhere either since most parks have had an Arrow/Vekoma looper at one point or another. Wouldn't be surprised to see KC or Revolution go as those could still be marketable.

Demon is outdated and the least populated coaster at the park. Even on busy days it is not that long of a line. Arrow coasters have been dying for a while now so I think the clock is ticking for Demon...KC is a great flat in an otherwise boring area (besides RR) and Whizzer is the most popular family ride so it will be safe till the park simply cannot afford it anymore or finds a better family coaster for that spot. The flumes are old but still popular and I'm sure upkeep is not THAT bad otherwise they would be gone by now. We need the flumes otherwise it is just Roaring Rapids and that gets a huge line on hot summer days. Buccaneer Battle was a flop so we need the flumes to keep traffic going.

Six Flags America doesn't have a sit down looping coaster.

Yep. in fact i can't think of any custom arrow looper that was ever relocated to another park. of the ones we've lost over the years (shockwave, SFGAdv's GASM, drachen fire, orient express), they've all gone to the scrap yard, not relocated to a new park. the arrow corkscrew and launched loop models have obviously seen lots of relocations over the decades, but the custom loopers don't seem to translate well to being relocated. i would be SHOCKED if six flags ever relocated the demon to a different park. if and when the demon does meet the end of its long run at SFGAm, i'm afraid that will be the end of its life.

that said, for purely selfish nostalgic reasons, i hope the demon lives forever because it was the first "real" roller coaster i ever rode back when i was 7 years old in 1983. i know it sounds absurd now, but back in 1983, the demon was still considered a big deal steel roller coaster, and it certainly intimidated the hell out of my 7 year old psyche. the loops, the black paint job, the tunnels, the music, the blood waterfall - it was all just so menacing and sinister. an early encounter with pure evil.

Based on the giant waterpark that comes included with the gate (and day to day operating costs of water rides/power consumption to boot), one or more of Yankee Clipper/Logger's Run/Roaring Rapids/Buccaneer Battle would be my guess. King Chaos would be my next guess.

Regarding Demon- I hope it has many years ahead of it yet. As a kid growing up in '90s Chicago, American Eagle and Demon were the two signature rides at Great America- and that was even with Batman The Ride, Iron Wolf, and Shockwave already in existence. As it stands, the first drop in the last row is only bested by Raging Bull's. Raging Bull is the tallest drop in the park; Demon's drop is 90 feet... Losing Demon would be very disappointing.

Sadly, I think it could be the Orbit, or Sky Trek Tower. Both rides are having problems. I wish I knew what happened to Orbit on closing night. I think East River Crawler could be another ride to go because of problems. I wouldn't have a fit if any of these rides went for something great, but Six Flags is so obsessed with Sky Screamers which to me are nothing that great, so than I rather those rides stay and get fixed.

Here is my take on what people have said and my thoughts:

In terms of the next RIDE to leave, it will likely be some sort of flat ride! Personally, I would like to see Condor go. I like King Chaos, but if SFA ends up expanding their Mardi Gras themed area, we may ship that to them too! They just refurbed East River Crawler so that is not going anywhere. They will fix the counter-rotating arm in the offseason as that broke after the refurb.

I think Demon will be the next COASTER to leave, BUT that won't be for several more years. Seeing as that we are getting Goliath, we are probably NOT getting and BIG coasters for a while now, so they will take down Demon when they are ready to put a new BIG coaster in. Demon's parts Are SLOWLY getting hard to find so it will come down eventually. The ride will be scrapped when it comes down, and yes, since that is an original ride, it will be quite the historic loss, but nothing can last forever. Whizzer is not going anywhere as its parts are still very easy to find, and it's still very popular. AE is not going anywhere for the shear reason that they can never build anything over there if they take it down!

I would love to see a NEW high thrill flat ride next year. We haven't seen that in a LONG time. The flumes are still popular..I think over time they will eventually get rid of one of them. i feel BB could go to. I think that park realizes that it was a bad investment! I expect Dark Knight to be rethemed and turned into a dark ride and somepoint too!

Only time will tell!

I agree that next on the wish list is a high thrill flat ride. Could be in RC's spot or take out an existing flat (not Giant Drop, KC, or Revolution).
At some point Demon will leave and another coaster, hopefully a launcher, will replace it.

May I ask.. Why can't they tear down the eagle and put a better dueling wooden coaster in its place or a better overall ride in general? I do love ae but I'm just curious

It's hard to find a better racing coaster than Eagle. Of course, I wouldn't entirely be against having two B&M hypers in one park à la CW or Carowinds, but even I laugh at my own idea.

Pertaining to the question at hand, Eagle has become such an icon surrounding Great America and people will always be attracted to it. It's a classic, it's insane, it's out-of-control, and it's fantastic. It's the third best out of four wood coasters that I've ridden, but it's still amazing. It'd be a shame if they took it out, but I wouldn't be too thrilled about an I-box treatment, either.
