Okay I know this is very far fetched but an offseason hater can dream. What if the park was semi-open year round. The winter season would be a lower price. Only Carousel Plaza and Orleans Place would be open. Sky-Trek Tower, Pictorium, TDK, Cyber Cafe, the shops, and the arcades are indoors. You could enclose Primo's and Rue Le Dodge. It's a small area to be walking outside. The crowds and ticket prices would be smaller but so would the staffing and costs. It would give us something to do year round. It would also give more opportunities for SFGAm employees to be able to work year-round.
Again I know this is really far fetched and would never actually work, but I just would really love to see an indoor year-round option.
I love the park, but Rue Le Dodge, The Dark Knight and SkyTrek Tower would not be enough to bring me down through the cold & snow to Gurnee from any distance.
Even if the park had all the flats open - Triple Play, East River Crawler, Orbit, Hometown Fun machine, etc; plus shows & the Dark Knight, people would be freezing on those rides. With that much open, I don't even think a lot of enthusiasts would make it out to the park, because it's only flats & ONE coaster. For a lot of people, it's just too cold to go on rides. I would still go, and freeze because I'm that way, due to the fact that the park would actually be open during the off-season, but I'm not everyone.
