It's funny how some of you think the wooden coaster will only fit in IW spot.. Like "Oh no you are not allowed to go behind wilderness theater, and along the picnic area of the park".... Uhm? Why not? Where does it say you can't?
Six Flags Ameirca as the number 1 park at SFI.... this is JOKE!

I'd say tearing out Wilderness Theater is a given at this point. I see the theater being bulldozed and a new Picnic Grove path going through that area right along Yankee Clipper's lift, connecting to the existing Picnic Grove by the restrooms. I'd also bet they remove Area 6, the two smallest picnic structures nearest the Iron Wolf area.

X Flight the only wing coaster in the chain, now a brand new from scratch RMC wooden coaster, that is very tall. Plus for the first time we will have 14 roller coasters in park's history- if I am not mistaking.

They're getting rid of ragin cagin (or was that just rumored?)

That may be a possibility...

That would work with all of that available space but sixflags only has one coaster cross the midways that being the demon so I don't think they'd cross over them twice

Also it's a wooden coaster so it would need tons of wood and supports throughout and six flags wouldn't want to block half of the midway with all of this wood

Everone is way over stating what it takes to hit mid 70mph. Really eagle on ancient technology hits 66mph with a 127' hill and 147'drop. Either a fast boost off the lift hill or a 90degree drop could hit 74 pretty easy with current tech. Other wise could this be some sort of assisted/boosted/launched ride??

I was wondering if there is enough time to get this up for the 2014 season but using Outlaw Run as a guide (latest wooden coaster) it does still seem possible.
They were clearing land on 3/19/2012
They put the final peice of track in place on 9/26/12 (per Silver Dollar web page) which is about 6 months. I know there is other work after, but initial structure was in place in 6 months.
If SFGAm want to have this opened by Memorial day weekend '14; they could still make it...though a bit tight.
Viper was already started in the summer prior and the Eagle was sooner than that.
X-Flight was right around the begining of FF if memory serves me correctly with land clearing and the removal of the antique cars.
They have about 9 months, but Illinois winters are unpredicatable. They could do like Full Throttle and open it in June '14 too I guess.

The zone put up a good pic highlighting areas around IW that could be used. It's on the site and on facebook.

We sort of have 4 rumors flying around about rides and a removal. It's probably going to be one of these roller coaster's if it gets one.

1. Bolliger and Mabillard/Premier Rides Launch Coaster (MOST LIKELY)

This seems like the most likely rumor. It seems possible that B and M might make a launch coaster and if they do, it's probably going to be good. I hope it's not like Full Throttle. Even though it has the record for the World's Tallest Loop, it's nothing special. It just goes launch, loop, turn, dive loop, backwards launch, forwards launch, hill, brakes. I would rather have some extra inversions and hills.

2. Rocky Mountain Construction on American Eagle's Blue Side

This rumor has not been stable. There were pictures on screamscape of a man from RMC pointing at the hill but it turned out it was fake. That sign that said the blue side of the American Eagle is mysterious because only a few people saw it. If they made the Blue Side a RMC coaster. I would like one of the air time hills to be a zero gravity loop. A corkscrew over the Red Side would be cool and another loop somewhere to give it a world record.
I feel that if they did that to the Blue Side, the Red Side would have no popularity because it's a regular wooden coaster and wouldn't compare to the Blue.

3. Intamin Zac Spin in Ragin Cajun's or Iron Wolf's spot.

This rumor is the most dreaded. The new coaster is supposed to be 165 feet tall and the tallest model of the Zac Spin is actual 164. 042 feet. These rides can only serve 800 riders per hour which isn't that impressive. The model on Intamin's site doesn't look that good because coming off the hill, it goes down a drop a third of the way down. The ride should be longer so it can serve more people. Ragin' Cajun's spot would not be the best spot because it takes up not that much room and the rest of the land would go to waste and Iron Wolf's spot is the same thing.

4. Gerstlauer Euro Fighter in Iron Wolf's Spot

This rumor is not probably going to happen but I like the idea. I love Euro Fighter's and think one would be a good addition to the park. I would want it to go in Southwest Territory by the entrance to Hurricane Harbor but it seems more likely in Iron Wolf's spot or in the place of the Southwest Amphitheater. The tallest Euro Fighter is 143 feet I think and they could make it taller. It could also hold the record of most loops possibly.

I wasn't going to post this photo because I knew it would cause a frenzy, but there were a bunch of carpenters over by Eagle today. They appeared to just be looking at something, as the ride was still operating.

They only stand around looking at the Eagle for kicks. lol

And yes, I do understand that the new wooden coaster will START in the Iron Wolf area. I'm only asking, but is that an orange mark on the ground on the right side by the weeds?

Don't foget they do planning and surveying about a 1.5 - 2 years out for sites they have plans on..... (X-Flight & New Coaster for Wolf's spot) So that work by Eagle and SWA could actually be prep work for the 2015 season.

The common theory is that it will go in Iron Wolf area, Wilderness Theater, and part of the picnic area. However, it says on signs in the park that they are going to still have Necropolis this year at the park. If on Sept 1st, they are starting construction, than why are they having Necropolis open in the picnic grove? The walkway is also by the Wilderness Theater. Shouldn't the demolition of that stuff be on the first day they can get it done - as soon as possible. Yes, people can go through the back way entrance of Necropolis, but for so many years, they have had only one way in, and one way out. Logger's Run also helps on the one side because they can make a long line in there.

And yes, maybe I am too much about Eagle blue going away, but last year all this stuff started happening - which is the "1 or 1.5 years of survey stuff for Eagle". People and I seen a ribbon underneath the blue side lifthill, and I've seen a ribbon on the bottom of the last helix of the blue side. They had a camera going over the Eagle which could just be commercial shooting, but it could also have been surveying the ride. Now, blue Eagle I think opens at 1 pm. It probably does for a few years now, but that's late. And now people are seeing all these markings on that side of the park - close by it. And for the Funnel Cake place, they opened up one this year by V2. So, it's not needed.

Usually, when you have a bunch of mechanics / carpenters / head up people just standing by a ride, there is something important going on with that ride. For Sky Trek Tower during last year, I saw "head ups people" by the ride, and I was afraid that they were going to get rid of it. They didn't get rid of it, but what they were really doing was changing the rule for the ride. Now, they must have 20 people in the cabin in order to start the Sky Trek Tower. Something important did happen though.

^ There's no reason they can't have Necropolis open and be working on the ride. They can work on demolition and ground prep but still have the path open, as they did when they were talking down IW. And then if it's using any of Picnic Grove just work on that once the park is closed.

Or they could have the entrance to Picnic Grove be both the entrance and exit of Necropolis, although that would suck in many ways.

As for the 1pm opening, it's not just for blue. They open one side at opening, and the other at 1pm, it can be either side. This year I've seen the red side get the late opening more than the blue.

I just looked at The Zones diagram and it is possible to have a coaster go into the maintenance area...maybe the hint in the second video was the maintenance area being removed.

So it might or could be the first launch wooden coaster with a 165ft lift hill worlds fastest in the world just like the Great Coaster International concept ride. They showed at the IAAPA except bigger were getting a GCI. It is pretty compact so it could easily fit anywher well have to wait and see. They got a video on you tube but dont know how to upload it. Also the mayor could've gotten a fake design so they can fool the public again :D . They got pictures and video click on facebook page http://www.greatcoasters.com
