Here's a post from earlier in the thread of how the zoning board characterized previous rides. V2, Deja Vu and Mr. Freeze only had one bit mentioned. Raging Bull had four.
Is it because these were all tower heights, not hills or loops or anything?

After some searching, I finally found the agenda from Chang's Zoning Meeting. Only the tallest point was listed at 150.17ft. There was no mention of the second 137ft portion.
Public Hearing: Variation at 542 N. Route 21 (Six Flags Great America Park), for Great America, LLC (Great America, LLC has submitted a variation petition to exceed the 125 foot height restriction to allow for the construction of a new roller coaster ride to a maximum height of 150.17 feet that will be located in the Space Port area. The subject property is the existing Six Flags Great America Park (located between Grand Ave and Washington St and Rte 21 and the I-94 Tollway) and is zoned C/S-1 Outdoor Recreational District.)
So there is still all kinds of potential here. What about a launched b&m or a launched floorless mega looper. With two, three, or more lim launches and boosts almost anything is possible. I could see a mega looper doing great in that spot. World record for number of inversions is an absolute possibility
All we know is that the ride will reach a max height 165 ft at least once. Neglecting friction and resistance and assuming the coaster is launched, the train must travel at least 70 MPH to complete the 165ft element (CoE!), which means it may actually travel faster than Bull at launch if you factor in all conditions and assume that you'll still have a decent amount of speed at the top. If it's a traditional lift, the top speed will be around 65-70. Of course, that's assuming a drop height of 165 ft.
OR if it's a ZacSpin- everything I said above is wrong.

As for why it's still there, that's because it hasn't been in the way of anything, yet. For other examples of delayed removals, see Space Shuttle America and Splashwater Falls pool and queue.
I doubt its a B&M I dont think sf will spend all that money for just one attraction not yet anyways. 165 ft could just be for one lifthill there could be more higher than that well have to wait and see. 310ft is the limit if its a record breaker maybe its a GIGA lol just dig more feet underground and call it a recordbreaker doubt it. Then again it could just be a giant flat ride dang SF just messing with us with all those clues at least we know its not a show.

They could always dig a few feet underground and call it a record. Depending on the type of coaster, of course.

Do people really think that the park is going to get another B&M so soon? The park just got one 2 years ago. If Eagle gets done next year, the park can't be buying a $15 - $20 million coaster right away. I'm thinking it would be on the cheaper side. Full Throttle was $6 million. Euro Fighters are cheap, and Zacspins are cheaper all things considering.
I did some digging around, and the 5 might mean that the coaster would be 5 acres which would mean Full Throttle. "five-acre section where guests will experience high-energy action" There was a camera of 72, and that might mean the speed of the launch. Now, Full Throttle is 70, but if it's a taller loop, you need more speed. "accelerate from zero to 70 miles-per-hour" Here's the 180 thing: "rapidly decelerating and taking the final 180-degree turn to the left, returning to the station where you can catch your breath."
24 has me stumped because a lot of press releases have Skyscreamers at 24 stories high, and that's supposedly what we are NOT getting. "Towering at 24 stories above the ground, SkyScreamer is next to the classic Big Wheel, offering an amazing view."
There is still a 45 & a 85 camera.

Going off what someone said about leveling the Wilderness theatre, if the park wanted to they could have a tunnel starting on the side of the road closest to Camp Cartoon, have it go under Camp Cartoon, do a few twists and turns (maybe inversions) and it can come back, do a helix or something, then pull back into the station. Just an idea!
Premier coasters are cheaper and they still draw in big crowds, especially with a size like 165 ft. Sure the capacity probably won't be super but if it's cheap and they can market it as a record breaker, they will be happy.

I see us possibly getting a ZacSpin in the future, maybe to replace Cajun, but I definately don't think one is coming this year. 165ft would make it quite large, as Green Lantern: First Flight is only 117 ft. It would also be a colossal waste of space to put one where Iron Wolf was.
I can see them getting a premier launch like s:uf at discovery kingdom if they don't put one in IW's spot. I also see a Zacspin. If they put a Zacspin in RCs spot, they should have it also named Ragin Cajun. I also see possibly a eurofighter in the SWAmp area eventually
Everyone is so obsessed with the Premier launched coaster idea. The numbers, to me, make it obvious that it's not going to be one. Why would Six Flags break their own record, one year later, with the exact same type of ride? Just doesn't seem to make sense at all. I could, however, see them break 2 of their own records 8 years later.

Are you talking something like El Toro - steepest drop being broken, and some other one? El Toro was in 2006, and it's 8 years later in 2014.

I don't think SF would want SFGAM to break the record one year later. I could however see them building a RMC woodie and breaking multiple wooden coaster records. The suspense is killing me, though!
The coaster will likely not break the loop/speed record, I can't see Six Flags breaking their own record one year after setting it at Magic Mountain, which is the chain's king in terms of treatment and coasters.
I think we may see B&M debut their own launching system, but an RMC woodie would be really stretching it. I don't see it happening at all, but would be ecstatic if it did happen.

I was thinking about that, and I may be way off, but it would seem to me that marketing something as a record-breaker would have the most effect immediately prior to and during the season that the ride opens. It just seems that people have a short attention span when it comes to these sorts of things. I've seen plenty of people who think that Top Thrill Dragster is still the tallest and fastest in the world, for example. It wouldn't even surprise me if a handful of guests at Cedar Point still think that Millennium Force is the tallest roller coaster in the world, even with Dragster right in front of them. On top of that, this record-breaker is still in the Six Flags chain. It wouldn't surprise me if we see a another similar record-breaker elsewhere in the chain for 2015.
