Way back in 2009/2010 we started seeing pink ribbons near Demon and Raceway. Pink ribbons are used for land surveys as a reference. That information is passed on to B&M, Intamin, etc so that they know what land space they have to work with and they will design a ride for that area and then present it to Six Flags for finalization. This is why X-Flight is designed the way it is, it needed to fit into a tiny area.
Demon had pink ribbons on it and it's still there; just because you see ribbons, doesn't mean the ride is leaving. I really think the pink ribbons near Angelo's are pure coincidence.

Very true all around. It might be nothing. Or it might be something, as it turned out to be with Demon & Raceway. Just ... interesting.
What flume is that? Are they on both of the flumes or just one? I think Yankee Clipper is having trouble this year ...as other rides are..., but I don't see the reason for both of them anymore because of the more recent addition of the waterpark. With Clipper gone, that would still mean 3 water rides in the regular park. You need 4 when you have no waterpark. If they could just do away with Yankee Clipper, I'm not against that.
Now SFGAm could have the only turning Skyscreamer. There is a version in which that type of ride turns around also, but it's not made by the Skyscreamer people, and that one is portable.

^Getting rid of only Clipper would be stupid because Clipper and Loggers Run share the area. Removing only clipper wouldn't free up a lot of space and the pool would have stay since Loggers uses that same pool.

^If they were to build a roller coaster, they don't need to take out both to do so. It just would have to be a custom built. They could have the coaster above the one flume they have left. Supports can go in pools / lakes. SFOG has Ninja in a lake. Whizzer is above water also. Though, all I'm thinking is bare minimum if this did happen. You take out the Yankee Clipper station, and you plop in a Sky Screamer.

That was the only support I saw anything on ... and, crazy as this may sound, unless my Google-fu is failing me, I believe that support is for Loggers' Run. Pardon my crude drawings, but here's what I have, with a circle for where the support is, along with dots indicating what I interpret to be the path of the ride from that spot and an 'X' for about where I took the snapshot.
What's over there? Well, Ragin' Cajun for one thing, but also some backstage areas and, notably, Roarin' Rapids.
What could go there? Well, a lot of possibilities. A SkyScreamer where Cajun is would not only make sense in the space but also would give the park a nicer balance of "tall rides" (SkyTrek near the entrance, Drop in Southwest, Dare Devil Dive at the back and the SkyScreamer in Madi Gras). Dreaming bigger, if you say goodbye to Roarin' Rapids, that's a mighty fine space for a coaster and it would be basically equipped for something that could rather fancifully involve water somehow.
All just pure speculation, though -- again, it might just be a pad over a rusted-out spot and they ran out of regular tape so they used pink ribbon, for all we know.
Hmm ... my bet? A massive expansion of the queue line for Jester's Wild Ride. It's so wild!

That would require major modifications to the pool unless they just decide to leave the trough there. Imagine the empty SWF pool with a coaster flying over it.....That's what this "coaster" would look like during Fright Fest. You know what, you're right, that's really appealing. You need to realize that entire water filled area is a man made pool.....Go into Google Maps and you can see what's drained. The only natural water in that area is between BTR/Dipper/V2.
Also, look at loggers and Clipper and notice how the drops intersect. Getting rid of only clipper opens up almost no space.
As for the Sky Screamer idea spot....Better idea than the coaster, but still a little unpractical cost-wise.

Sporlo wrote:To this day, I have yet to ride a traditional sit-down decent-sized looper. Basically a Shockwave type coaster (but with better design). SFGAm had Iron Wolf, but it was stand up. We have Batman, but it's inverted. We have Bull, but it doesn't do inversions. We have Superman, but it flies and doesn't exactly follow the format of a traditional looper. We have Demon, but it's a lot smaller and it's an old Arrow with less-than-ideal train design. We have X-Flight, but it's a wing rider.
So, to be honest, I would rate any B&M floorless pretty highly. Basically, given a regular sit-down and a floorless, they're identical except for the floor, so the floorless part isn't so much of a gimmick as a small upgrade.
Something quick, but not out of control, something comfortable, but not too cozy. Perhaps take Batman and Bull, and combine them. Bull's swiftness and easy-going feel, with Batman's quality inversions and smaller body, just what I'm looking for. Maybe 3-4 inversions. 2 traditional loops with 1 or 2 other unique inversions.
Neither Cedar Point nor Six Flags St. Louis has one of these. St. Louis has Ninja, which is a great layout, but once again, Arrow (Vekoma) and old like Demon. Cedar Point has Mantis, but stand-up, and Raptor, but inverted.
Ever heard of Maverick? It's the best traditional sit down looper I've been on. Why would Cedar Point need a B&M floorless, when they have this and Corkscrew? Six Flags St. Louis also has Mr. Freeze for a sit down looper. Bizzaro at Great Adventure and Scream at Magic Mountain are B&M floorlesses and are not that popular at all at these parks.

These aren't pink ribbons. They're orange straps. As for needing to remove both flumes to use the space, well, someone should probably tell that to California's Great America

So what are you saying? That you don't think the flumes have much longer?

Maverick and Mr. Freeze are not sit down loopers. Maverick is a blitz and Freeze is a LIM Shuttle. Traditional sit down coasters are rides like Kumba and Dragon Khan.

Yep, just watched those two and that's basically what I was referring to. Or even something a tad smaller like the new Nitro at Adlabs Imagica.

You are worried about 12 days of the year during Fright Fest of how it would look. What does that matter? If they cared so much about the look, leave the water in. They used to run Roaring Rapids during Fright Fest, and they leave the water in, in front of the Columbia Carousel. What's the big deal? Go to a park like Indiana Beach, or Hersheypark, and you will see how coasters are interwoven into other rides.
As for the orange straps, maybe their is wiring in that pole, and they needed to fix the wiring, so they opened a piece of it up, and than just got some random metal piece, and covered it up. Big deal. This is a dead rumor.

It's not only Fright Fest, it just would look worse during that time. This is taking the parking lot coaster concept to a whole new level. A Coaster in a parking lot is unappealing, a coaster over an abondoned pool with a empty trough in it is even worse. Like I said, the pool would need major modifications to have a coaster built over it and you can't simply just remove clipper and use that space for a new coaster. Removing Clipper doesn't free up a lot of space, even though California's Great America did that, they also didn't put a coaster there.

Stealth when it was at PGA was pretty cool covering just the area Yankee Clipper took up. I don't think the park, or any park for that matter is all that concerned with aesthetics as long as the new ride is marketable. We all may care, but they really don't care, not one tiny bit It's all about money, which when it comes to business, it should be.

When CGRAm removed Yankee Clipper, they also changed the layout of their Loggers Run to fit Stealth. Should our park want to put a coaster in the flume area they could do the same thing.

Dag nab it, they shouldn't be allowed to use orange ratchet straps to repair things! They look like pink ribbons from a distance and goodness knows us theme park geeks are always looking for pink ribbons!
