Today was Coaster Enthusiast Day at SFGAm. The event had about 60 people. After only 10 minutes, 35 people were already too dizzy to ride namtaB anymore and were just waiting around for the ERT to move to repiV at 9:30
So yeah, Saturday of 4th of July Weekend, it was busy
For some reason, SFGAm didn't think this line required a 3rd train at Demon, even though the 3rd train is ready and had riders earlier in the week.
I hadn't noticed it, but Carousel's turntable was painted in the spring. The main building will be painted in the fall because they ran out of time. American Eagle will be the next coaster to be painted, but they haven't finalized when that will happen.
East River Crawler is open.
Whizzer's 3rd train is at the ride. It has not had any testing yet, and maintenance was working on it later in the day.
Viper's cars have had extra padding added
Looks like Superman will be getting some fancy new storage track doors. The hinges will be at the bottom, basically like X Flight's door turned upside down. A little unusual, but that's really the only way they can add doors and not interfere with the operation of the transfer track.
Sunday July 7th is the last day for namtaB. During Q&A, Hank Salemi said that Batman will most likely be closed Monday and Tuesday, possibly Wednesday. It wouldn't surprise me if that is just to get it open with 1 train though.
Today's event also included an extensive backstage tour which included the Ride Mechanics shop. You can check that out here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=14395
Went to the park for a few hours today for Viper and Crawler, here's a small update:
- Demon seemed to only be running two trains. I didn't ride it so I'm not 100% sure, but I never saw the yellow train run. - Vipers crew was not great today, which was weird since on my last few visits they were hauling butt. Not sure if it was the heat or the backwards trains, but nearly every train stacked, some for a few minutes. - Vipers flash pass worker was doing great though. The station always had every row full, but only for two or three trains, which was really nice with the heat. - Orbit is still down. - ERC seemed to be running a really short program. It did break down after my ride which I'm hoping is what cut off my ride somehow, because it seriously took four minutes to load us for a 45 second ride. It also showed how badly the park needs more staffing, especially on flat rides. The one worker was moving fast, but with so many cars it still takes a long time. - Whizzer was running two trains. It's third train looked very nearly done. The front row of it was roped off with a next seat please sign though. Also I'm not sure if this is normal for two train ops but they wouldn't send a train until the one before it hit the brake run.

Batman was down while they are turning the cars around. Yankee Clipper had a sign that it would open at 1. Close to 1 they were cycling empty boats then at 1 they changed the sign to closed today. Orbit was down. Dark Knight had down time. At 1 point all the coasters had down time for about 15-20 minutes. There was no rain or intense wind at the time so there was probably lightning nearby.
I got the Six Flags newsletter, and one of the big things is: "Flash your Season Pass to enjoy exclusive ride time on Raging Bull from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on July 17" I don't get this promotion at all. Rides are usually emptier in the morning anyway, and they aren't giving season pass holders any extra time to go on it - It's during normal operating hours. What is the point of this perk? Who usually gets to the park earlier in the morning? Season pass holders. If the statistics are right, 4 out of 10 people are season pass holders, so there will be a longer line with these people going on Raging Bull because they think they are getting something special when the line might be longer for that ride at that time than it usually is.

"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
^ What? If 4 out of 10 people are pass holders, that means only 4 out of 10 people in the park will be able to ride Bull for that first half hour, but you somehow translated that into the line being longer? It's not some big event that every pass holder is going to rush out for, it's just a half hour of ERT.
^It's Raging Bull. It's a lot of people's favorite ride at the park. A bunch of people will come just because of the perk just like people go to Coasters After Dark. They are going to THINK that it's going to be a walk-on, and ride it as many times as possible because they have a season pass, when I'm saying that so many people have a season pass.

Any passholder ERT has always been swamped enough to the point that I don't even attend them anymore as it's not worth my time. But why wouldn't you buy a season pass when it's such a bargain to obtain one!?!
Condor is still broke - all day. Orbit is still broke - all day. East River Crawler is not the same as it was before. It's like the ride is in slow motion. Batman the Ride still not open. Thursday. A bunch of waterfalls for the Lazy River weren't on. The Dark Knight line only had 2 tvs in line on out of 6. Whizzer had both tvs on, but no sound. Stuff like that has to be about cost cutting - waterfalls & tvs. Whizzer had all 3 trains operating.
I haven't seen Screams and Dreams since week 1, but now they have a trailer preview in which they have the Ignight commercial. They also have commercials before the Screams and Dreams movie (such as a regular movie theater does). I only seen one because I got there late, but it was that Gumball thing on Cartoon Network.

PR was filming on repiV in the morning. Let me just say this. For the love of God, please don't let this be "repiV: Goat Edition". Yeah, in case you missed it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5sUTEyDwiw
River Rocker is closed
They had it chained up about 45 degrees
Condor has been closed since Tuesday
Whizzer was running all 3 trains today. Train 5 got all new paint this year, which means Whizzer now only has 1 train that hasn't been painted.
Batman is still closed
Later in the day, the first train was in the station, but it never tested.
So, if things stay the same for another couple days at least at 7pm, Triple Play, Sky Trek Tower, River Rocker, Orbit, Condor, Batman the Ride, and Scenic Railway will not be open plus you have the waterpark people coming out of the waterpark at 6pm. So, the park feels so much more packed because of all this downtime. All those rides are at least -5000 people capacity per hour. Plus, at 7 / 8pm, who is really going on Roaring Rapids, Yankee Clipper, Buccaneer Battle, and Logger's Run?
DeathbyDinn wrote:^ How would turning off a tv be cost cutting?
I'm glad you get free electricity wherever you live. 4 tvs off plus no sound - in which a bunch of tvs have big speakers attached to them means more electricity. You run 4 tvs with big speakers for 12 hours a day, and tell me how much it costs? The Dark Knight didn't even have air conditioning ON in the building. I think cost cutting has a lot to do with them going overboard with advertisements this year compared to other years. They are on tv a lot, I seen commercials on Hulu, heard a bunch of commercials on the radio, and there are a bunch of billboards all over the place.
On the other side of the coin, I think that too much "CHANCE" of rain on a bunch of days has hurt the park, and also the colder weather. I can't say whether or not people like Ignight because I haven't physically stood there yet to watch it. Though from watching it on the computer, it doesn't look that impressive. It's a background on a stage, and them singing typical Grand Music Hall songs. Nothing wrong with that, but if it was Justice League stunt show, I would be there in a heartbeat compared to random snippets of songs.
A show that had great background projections to me was actually at Brookfield Zoo last year for Halloween. There was no one live at all, but it was simple Halloween music, and they had the projections on a white building which was called The Swamp. I really enjoyed it. These projections from me seeing it on video are whoopee do projections. This is a link for the show. I think they had 3 different shows. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmjxcsHkG9k

Kind of sounds like the park is in an unfortunate situation with rides being mechanically inept at the moment...which I'm sure there's priority yet again as they try to get Batman back up and running (although I'm not sure what zones are affected).
Just to mention Batman the Ride must be OPEN again because of what the person said in the Theming thread.

I know I said it in the power outage thread, but I might as well say it again. Condor is open again!
