The way the metal detectors are is a travesty. Today, people were standing in line for them on the roadway because the line was so backed up. On top of that, you have that flowerbed that is near them that doesn't help at all. The way they had it before made a whole lot more sense than this idea. It makes more sense at a park like Magic Mountain because they have a lot more room from the metal detectors to the roadway to have people stand their and wait.
I think the whole reason why they don't let people in the park before the time is because of staffing. Don't let people in earlier, and thus pay some people either a hour or 1/2 hour less money. To me, the thing that Great America doesn't take into consideration is that if people come in early to the park, make sure all those stores are open towards the front of the park. They really should add a coffee place inside the park towards the front entrance that they could open up earlier. ___________ Can someone tell me why on rides this year they ask you how many people are for a particular row?

I dont think the park has Batman's second chassis yet. It will be running backwards until at least early-Mid July. I think X flight has issues besides just not being ready.
Favorite Wood Coasters: The Voyage, Ravine Flyer II, Thunderhead, Balder Favorite Steel: Voltron Nevera, Steel Vengeance, Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping Parks visited: 232, Coasters Ridden: Steel: 894, Wood: 179, Total: 1073
This is just my guess but I wouldn't be surprised if X-flights second train has some major mehanical issue that was found during the off season or testing and maybe they had to order new parts from B&M? Again, just a hypothetical guess.
From an employee(you never can believe them but you never no) said xflights train just wasnt ready and couldnt get the go ahead to test! Again I dont know if this is true. Also I doubt it was an issue with needing something its a brand new coaster and I cant see that being the issue! I think though by end of this week(Friday) they may have that train up and running but most likely be Wednesday of next week!

I'm not quite sure why you are figuring this from the picture. Are you referring to the sign with the forward and backward switch? If so, to me it just seems like a little prop that can easily be taken out.

Yes I was but why would they just buy that? I mean to have it and switch it to forward after mid July? Thats pretty stupid and wasteful if you ask me I just see them doing it yearly because just to buy that for one year is silly:p just a guess probably not right but you never know?
Those backwards chassis will be visiting all the B:TR clones in the chain. It will be quite some time before GAm would see them again after this season....and that's assuming they'll store them here.

It's a marketing thing. They are trying to fill in the park when attendance is slower, so they have this gimmick of having a ride go backwards. Than, towards the end of the season they might have American Eagle backwards. The way I see it is that Batman already is one of the the most intense coasters (In my opinion, the other one is Ragin Cajun because of a lot of spinning) in SFGAm already, and than now they put it backwards. I get it, that everyone wants to try it, but for that coaster to go backwards, it doesn't really make sense. I just think there are going to be a lot of pukings this summer for Batman. Ride goes down a bunch of time for pukings forwards, and this is backwards which has to be much worse.
A ride like Whizzer would be better backwards because it's not that intense to begin with. Raging Bull in my opinion would be another one that isn't that intense. I get why they are doing this though. It's because they have so many Batman coasters across the chain, but to have one of the most intense coasters in SFGAm go backwards just doesn't make sense.

^ Don't you dare ever suggest them messing with Whizzer ever again. Blasphemy!!!!
Back to the Batman discussion, there are currently 7 Batman clones operating in the SF chain, if every Batclone gets a turn, it will take about 3 seasons to complete the cycle, remembering that SFMM, SFOT, and SFFT can get their turns in the offseason.
I could see Six Flags St. Louis being the next in line to get namtaB. The park is only in short hours distance and they could easily market it for the second half of the summer season. Then once St. Louis is done with thier 2013 season, bring namtaB to Texas for the off season to draw in more attendence.

I'm guessing it has something to do with increasing capacity. Someone posted a video of Sky Trek Tower from opening day and the spiel said something about "Easy as 1, 2, 3" and part of the said something to the effect of letting the attendant know how many riders are in your group.
However, it didn't seem like they were really making an attempt on every ride. They were asking on Demon and there were plenty of groups of 3...and still have empty seats.
^You're exactly right. Guests... especially GP'ers don't like seeing excessive amounts of empty seats so they try to fill them. Listening to Bull's operator constantly say it is a bit annoying since people can't understand "LEFT SIDE OF THE YELLOW LINE IS FRONT ROW ONLY!"
"I've been told that some part of every wish will be heard but lately I lost sight of the truth in those words."
Entrance procedure updates: Parking lot gates opened at 9:20, there weren't that many cars. The open toll booths already had the green lights on. Toll booths opened at 9:30. Metal detectors still opened at 10:20. It would still be nice to get in to the front of the park 30 minutes early, but this is a step in the right direction.
They've added lattice walls in all of the large spaces between detectors. A good thing, because last weekend, people were sneaking through here.
namtaB 2nd train. The chassis are on the storage track if you look really closely. There are no wheel assemblies on them yet.
It doesn't look like they actually got new chassis. It looks like that steel plate between the seat post and the chassis is an adapter looking at where the bolts are.
East River Crawler has had one arm placed
V2's lockers have been completely removed now
Every once in a while, Six Flags actually gets ads that make sense
Orbit is completely reassembled except for the circle with the Great America logo on it. It also tested at least once today
Yankee Funnel Cake is getting a new roof
Pictorium paint and roof progress
Iron Wolf and V2 locker canopy frames are now being used in Hurricane Harbor
Yankee Clipper was running water and had boats in the station
Hometown Fun Machine now has retractable seat belts. This may seem like a minor change, but the ride operators will love not having to buckle all the empty seat belts on slow days.

Woah, woah, woah, woah, woah. Wait just one cotton-pickin' minute ...
... you're telling me they're PAINTING THE PICTORIUM? The building that's needed it so badly for, say, 20 years or so?!? The building that had been in such bad-looking shape on the outside that I continually thought they were just slowly waiting to put it out of its misery? They're actually doing it?!?
Holy crap. I must be hallucinating. No, it's impossible. I don't think I'll know what the Pictorium looks like without paint falling off of it everywhere.
It's as if they've actually been reading my comments on the surveys I send in. It's as if someone actually, you know, cares about aesthetics. Oh my God. What happened to the cheap, deferred maintenance Six Flags I've grown to know? My God, this is almost frightening. I don't ... I mean ... I don't even ... I ... [lost carrier]
