Hmmmm....so many choices...I'd enjoy being a ride op for.......Whizzer. Such a classic. I'd wouldnt mind being around it all day. Last thing I would want to do is ERC or Fiddlers Fling, you gotta check everyones lapbars then help the ones who cant get out.
You also have that problem at Eagle with the people that can't figure out to push down then pull up at the sound of the buzzer, gets frustrating even though you have the esiest interval,

Yeah, but what if it's raining. The station is completely uncovered except for the op's booth, so you have to wear one of those rain ponchos. Same with the Demon. Batman would be good if it was cold outside.
Well, since you can't pick which ride you want to operate, I can still dream about it.
I'd say:
Roller Coaster would have to be S:UF or Whizzer
Flat Ride would most likely be Orbit or Triple Play
I can't see myself doing any kiddie rides or some un-popular flat ride (SSA, STT, TB) Usually when I go to the park and ride them, there not all that "attracting" as one might say...
I worked at SFWoA... totally not worth it. It was casual labor and I was treated terribly. I don't think I would want to work at SFWoA, but you never know how different SFGAm could be. In '05 I'm gonna work at Cedar Point with Coastercorey.
I was just talking to my friends sister about working at Six Flags. I told her I was thinking about being a ride op for 2005, and she said don't do it. Sure, it's fun the first week, but after that it's boring (she worked Whizzer and Orbit). She hated having to yell at the guests and they'd often come up to her and be like "So, is that a lot of fun? Do you want to give me another thumbs up?" in a very sarcastic way. And then whenever the ride would close and they'd put the sign out (which happened to Whizzer a lot whenever it would rain), people would come up to her and say, "So, is this ride really closed?"
"YES IT IS!!! CAN'T YOU READ???"
Well, I guess it just goes to show that some people really are morons.
Actually my reason is because I have a major at Purdue in Engineering and I'm not going to work there just to work there, I would work there for a job experience and I did get offered an internship. Not to sell pop or stuff like that but actually first hand get to work the coasters. I don't know if I can take it yet because my aunt lives abuot a half hour from Gurnee and it depends on whether or not I can stay with her for about 3 mos. But that's my reason. And either way, I think it would be a lot of fun.

ANY job that interacts with people is like that, I know from experience and it's not at SFGAm.

Yes, hopefully. I don't know though. It really just depends. Ride ops I think get housing provided. Or so I heard. Or a deal or something. But not with an internship. Which doesn't make sense. Plus, I want to attend Purdue next year and I need to make money so I hope I can. My parents are paying for me now but I want to help if I can. So yes, I guess you could say mechanics. I'm in structural engineering. I applied for a trip to go and watch a coaster being built through a program here. I don't know if I'll get it or not but that would be awesome.

Sounds fun. So you work with CAD and all that good stuff? Sounds to me like an internship with a coaster manufacturing company would be a bit more appropriate, but I don't think too many have offices around here. Mechanics at GAm would probably be the best for a coaster enthusiast because you get to really find out how everything works and tinker with things.

I know, but B&M are swiss, that's not happening haha. Unless I do the whole study abroad thing. Six Flags was the closest to home and I have a friend here who did it. Oh and Purdue doesn't suck! Who's a big 10 school?
Oh not Oklahoma **cough** PURDUE. haha j/k I don't have anything against other schools. Purdue is awesome though.

Have you ever worked RETAIL?
I know its this way with just about any job that interacts with people.
I work retail, and yes its the same retarded questions, But at least theres a roof over my head Granted i love the Weather especially Tornadoes but still, i hate wearing rain soaked clothes and having the wind blow a rain parka all over the place.
Working at Six Flags to me would be the equivilent of Working at McDonalds, thanks but no thanks
I did work a summer outside at an amusement center. No sitting and no real shade. It was Hell on earth. Outside work is okay once in a while, but every day it sucks!
