Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

This is actually an irrefutable truth.

On a serious note, I will be at SFGAm June 19-20 and I cannot wait to ride X-Flight. Grinning just thinking about it.

^ It helps when building rides that Cedar Point does not have neighbors and stringent zoning regulations to deal with. Big difference between GAm and CP.

It also helps that Cedar Point is the only component of the economy of Sandusky. Is the town really going to tell it's largest tax payer no?

But doesn't it happen around SF Great America all the time? I don't know the drama history, and I'm not much on politics, but haven't locals tried to dictate what goes on at Great America - including operating hours, etc.?

*Sighs... remember the time, circa 1982, when Marriott's Great America decided to stay open an *hour later* on a 4th of July. It was overcast, so they cancelled the fireworks. In lieu of that, the park gave us an extra hour. Ahhh... riding Whizzer with headlights and tail lights burnt out here and there. Good times!

(Fast forward to a June day in 2009... *Gay Day* as I recall; the storm came and the park decided to close at like 4pm. Even though the storm passed in a hour. What's up with that? Not nice.)

A little late to the party...but yesterday I decided to head to the park after work to give x flight a go and I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. Only complaints I had was the "lagging" feeling of the second zero g from the front rows and the relatively low speed on the barrel roll. I suppose thats part of the gimmick, but the whole knocking around feeling I feel will get old and hurt the ride in the long run.
As for the restraints, I saw no issues and if anything found them quite comfortable. I got a good chuckle out of a really big girl that waited for row 1 and was forced to switch out with the people in row 4. When the crew told her why, she came off offended like she didn't know she was big.
The crew is doing a pretty good job already, and if anything will get even better with time. The GP will eat this ride up for years to come.

was there wed to get a glimpse at x-flight. It opened late which kind of sucked but it is what it is. I rode back left outside. Love the force on the ride from there. I did not get a ride up front as i went on to other things in the park as well. Overall i was really impressed with it. Not over the top kick your ass kind of ride... but i enjoyed it very much. Its really a good piece of eye candy for the park as the area they put it in has really had some thought and time put into it. Last ride i rode back right outside. Almost as good as back left except the part where i got shot in the face by a jet of water. To be honest it kind of hurt lol.

Overall good addition to the park. RB is still my number 1 there though.

On a side note... Eagle Blue (once it got fixed) was running insanely fast. Ive never had such a good ride on blue side as i did yesterday.

I have another review about X-Flight. About the harnesses, they hurt me the closer you are to the front of the train. So, if you are riding in the back, it's not bad at all, but more towards the front, it really got my collar bone. They remind me of King Chaos harnesses which are painful to me also. I ride Superman all the time, and they don't hurt at all no matter where I sit. The only thing with Superman is the blood rushing to the head, but that's something entirely different. Why does it hurt in the front more in my opinion? It's because for something like the beginning of the ride, you are hanging over into the harnesses whereas in the back of the train, not as much. There are other elements which you are also sort of hanging a little bit.

To further explain my opinion of the ride is okay, the reason I say that is because the ride is kind of slow. The train is chunky, and it makes the ride feel slower than something like Batman. That's why the middle of the ride feels blah to me. The part through the tower has the feeling of slow upside down because the ride is going slower to begin with. This is weird that the ride feels slower than both Batman and Superman, but yet those rides are supposedly slower than this - only by 4 miles, but still. If you go on the In Line Twist on Superman, you don't get that feeling of slow upside down because I think the train is going faster during that point. Some seats of this ride are jerky while others aren't as much. I think the ends are worse than the middle ones.

For someone that hasn't been on this ride yet, another ride that is sort of like the feeling of stuck upside down for a bit (but still moving) is the carnival ride called the Spin Out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAMJMRBSyLc

^ I think that is the whole point of the ride. You get great hang time in the middle cars while in the front and back you get more Gs. The restraints really doesn't bother me a lot. You just can't take a deep breath and you don't spend a lot of time in it if the ride crew is fast and they where hauling today. They also stopped playing the soundtrack they had for pass holder preview day and went back to crappy Six Flags music.

^Yes, the crew was fast. The thing I wasn't anticipating is that they don't WAIT to open up the gates for everyone to get completely off. They do it right away, and you sometimes dodge other people getting into your seat, but it works fine that way. Superman crew was very fast today too. Batman the Ride was bad because they wouldn't let you reride even if their was no one in your row. This is the crew more towards the end. X-Flight, they let you reride if no one in your row, but not the 20 year old ride that sent out about 2 people per one train because they said to everyone that wanted to reride, get off.

I really didn't notice anything about the restraints other than them holding you in so much that there's no airtime. They have such a large surface area that the pressure they generate on your body is very small compared to the OTSRs used on like Batman or Vertical Velocity. Also, the outer seats on this will feel more lateral forces compared to the inside since they are further away from the center of rotation.

Or Iron Wolf, if you put your head forward after that corkscrew, you didn't feel like a punching bag. It's still a flaw of the ride, but it's sort of like your getting your head banged statements above.

This is troof. Sometimes, I'm convinced that people completely relax their neck muscles and allow the forces to toss their head around. It gets the same results that a corpse would if someone loaded it onto the ride.

Rag dolls. This is why some people die in car accidents while others don't. You know you're on a thrill ride, right? Brace yourself!

I had a friend that never was on roller coasters and I took him on the small ones Whizzer, TDK, Viper, he was scared of biggest ones but was interested in Batman:TR because it was a invert I told him to crimp his shoulders up to help support the neck but he still was complaining that he got whiplash from that ride. I asked him where that happened and i think it was in the second cork screw it's hard to understand his description because he said that was in middle somewhere.

I can understand this in the beginning of the season I find myself tightening my stomach muscle on eagle for the first few rides on the drop, for some reason I don't do this on Bull.

The vest is a rubber compound with steel strips inside it for strength, but you never feel em.

On the top of each vest there are straps that go into the back of the seat with an automatic tensioner, they pull back pretty lightly but once the vest goes back it locks in the new tighter position which is why by the end of the ride sometimes the vest ends up uncomfortably tight. If they locked in place when the train leaves the station, it'd be much more comfortable, but as it is now, it's not terrible or bad even, just a little uncomfortable if it does happen to ratchet back.

I have a few questions about X-Flight. First off, did it feel fast on the ride? How fast would you say the inline twist is at the end? Also, are single riders being paired up? I might go with a group of three people this weekend and would like to know. Lastly, how do you guys think that the lines and crowds will be like for tomorrow versus Sunday? I would really like to hit all coasters except Superman, as well as get on Revolution and other popular flats.

Anyways, it seems like everyone has a different view about the harnesses. I haven't ridden it yet, but for me I hope that they are not too tight like some people think. I'm young and slim though, so maybe this will make the rubber more comfortable?

Well, I am in my 30's and a heavier person, though only have a gut. I found the harnesses to be a bit tight, and have had some collar bone/ upper rib pain. I did not use the row 4 big boy seats, and was able to get the belts to buckle without an issue. I rode several times and it seemed like, I was not fully bottomed out in the seat. I think I will try the big boy seats next time I go. I hope it is not busy Sunday.

The audio is off in a few parts but right when were turning into the holding brakes before the station, you can hear me say: "These get tight man". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MlXkF85e7A Ive been on it 24x & yeah, it hurt my collar bones but nothin to where Im gonna complain about it cause I only feel it when it hits the brakes. I just figure its the force of that, idk.

As for my review of the coaster overall: Its a great addition to our park, perfect for us! I have gained two new B&Ms in my top ten this past weekend, XF obv bein one of them. The first drop, esp on back left, is one of my favorites anywhere. The inversion are all fun, regardless of the "slow" 4th one(it changes the pacing which is good in my opinion) & the themeing is wonderful. We know were not at Disney, Busch, or some crazy Asian park so the themeing is nicely done here. To me its the best lookin coaster we have in the park. I absolutely love it & am terribly sad Im moving away Monday! I think B&M is really starting to get wonderful again like they were in the 90s, theyre back to bein ballsy. I say BRING IT!!

Canada's wonderland should get a B&M wing coaster & SFGAm should get a B&M giga. Totally. ;) haha ...yeah im not kidding(use that 330ft ceiling we got) ugh I wish

Well I'm off to Six Flags at 8:30! I'll make a trip report tomorrow, as well as give my opinions on X-Flight. (Given that the lines aren't horrendous!) :(

We're going today as well... ERT tonight for Raging Bull as well.

I'm gonna guess the lines for X Flight will be huge. We may only use the exit pass on it and that's it if the wait is really long.

Should still be smaller then say June or July Saturdays. Sounds like it gets the busiest at the beginning of the day?

How about during the week? I'm going to go Monday or Tuesday with some friends, anyone know how the park is like when it first opens up during the week?

I was there this Thursday and X Flight only had a 30-40 minute wait. B:TR and Viper where 10 minutes and Bull was an hour because its still only running 2 trains.

I was there yesterday and heard it would be around 2 more weeks for the 3rd train. If that is accurate, that would push it into early June, and be the latest I can remember Bull ever getting the 3rd train.
