Did any one else feel like that X Flight was one of the few rides that was ready to run this Saturday ? I mean 2 trains on Raging Bull w/ a slow ride crew, 1 train on Viper, BTR breaking down a few times, Eagle looked like only 1 side was running, and 2 cars on giant drop not working. I mean I would expect things to be better.

To be fair it is only the second operating weekend.
There was some slow down yesterday, but nothing massive.

Not as much staff in May as in the summer. It was dead today overall.
Does anyone know if they are still doing that whole dumb, first 500 people thing on wednesday for X-flight? Still debating weather it's worth the trip on wednesday to go and ride.
Ride felt more comfortable to me than it did on media day. Harnesses weren't nearly as bad on my collarbone and the front was less bumpy. Honestly I was so impressed with the crew today. Three switchbacks in the queue waiting for the front row was a little under an hour wait.
Heard a lot of positive and a few mixed reviews of the ride once we got off. The first drop gets talked about more than the fly-through's from what I heard throughout the park all day.
question regarding the bigger belts in row 4. . i have a friend who is about 6ft, 290lbs.. will she be able to ride it? we went 2 years ago and she was able to ride Superman, raging bull, batman(was very tight), dark knight and iron wolf. . so just want to see if she will be able to ride it when we come? Thanks!

I'm approximately the same size, and have no problems in the normal seats. Your friend should be fine.
ok thanks.. it took the employee really pushing the harness down to get the belt to lock but she did make it on.. was hard for her to breath some but she was able to ride. the only ride she couldn't go on that we tried was V2. . the belt wouldn't hook so that was the only ride she had trouble with.

I was on the right side in the back, and I also was in the middle right side row. For the middle, I did feel the hangtime on the Dive Loop, but the going slow upside down, I didn't feel it as much as in the back of the train. It would be nice if I could have both of those on one seat, but besides those parts, for instance the Zero-G rolls don't feel very intense at all compared to Batman. The Immelman I didn't get airtime on that either in the back or middle compared to Sheikra which I got good airtime. I guess I don't even like Immelmans unless they give airtime. For Montu, that one doesn't give airtime. Back to the Dive Loop, I think it's just too slow going off the lift hill compared to something like Riddler's Revenge or Mantis. Quite honestly, I would take Iron Wolf over this ride because Iron Wolf had airtime in the loop, the helix was very intense at the end, and the corkscrew wasn't bad once you knew the secret. And yes, I know that people shouldn't have to know how to ride something, and the ride deserved to be taken down and scrapped because if they didn't move your head after the corkscrew, you would feel like a punching bag, and that's why it's gone. However, they just moved it to a worse park instead. I also think Superman has better harnesses.
2 positives since I said stuff I don't like. Those uniforms are awesome the workers have on, and the music is outstanding for a Six Flags ride. It's not just one song. It's an entire soundtrack. I wouldn't mind maybe buying it if they sold it in the stores.
There aren't many B&Ms that I have ridden in which I just say that was okay, not great. It's usually I completely like it (Goliath at SFOG or Hydra at Dorney Park), or I just don't like it (Fire Dragon at Universal or Raging Bull). This is one of the it's okay category to me, and Talon is another one.
Unfortunatly, I was not able to make it out to the park this weekend to ride X-flight but plan on heading to the park Friday to go and ride . For those who where at the park this weekend, was there a grouper at the line split assigning people which side of the train to go on before heading up toward the station?
I was there yesterday, and although there was an employee at the split, we were able to choose which side to go on. They were just limiting the number of people allowed up at a time to keep the station from backing up. The line moved pretty well. I was pretty impressed with how quickly they were dispatching trains. Between media day and this weekend, I think they are pretty well prepared for the general public.
When I rode today around noon, from the time I entered the line till the time I got off it was about 45 min, and at that time there was someone directing which side to go on. Later the wait was a bit longer, lucky I had met another coaster enthusiast, so the time seemed to fly by. This time the attendant gave us a choice of where to ride. I did basically the mirror image of my first ride, very different experiences, though, only a few feet apart. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed X-Flight, this one is definitely not a coaster for the record books, but quite a good addition to our coaster lineup. I enjoyed it, and it deserves a re-ride...soon.
^ Glad to here that you get the choice of which side of the train to ride. Hopefully the wait time will be the same for next weekend but I have my doubts. I am very suprised to hear that the maximum wait for the ride was only an hour this past weekend. Seems a little strange. I was expecting at least a two hour wait especially since season pass sales are at an all time high latley.
Used my extreme pass at 9 on Saturday and rode it non stop for that hour. Must have got close to 20 rides. Well worth the money and used my exit pass later that day. It was a little on the cold side to get whipped in the face with water. Was weird how it raced in to the loops then kinda felt like it would stall waiting for rest of the train to come through. On the front car. I'm not going to complain I still think the ride is very cool.
My personal favorite part of the coaster was the dive loop. I really liked it on the left, when the coaster first starts its twist. It was a bit intimidating at first, but I got over it very quickly. I also enjoyed the near miss elements. Kudos to the X-Flight crew, for a job well done.

I know your comment is short, but I agree with you. I felt first off that the ride was very jerky. This ride just feels like the unsmoothest B&M I've been on. Wow! Where do I start? 1. You sound like a Dollywood fanboy. 2. You're comparing WING RIDERS to almost every other type of B&M coaster. Of course it's not going to feel like an inverted, dive, floorless or stand-up coaster etc. It's a totally different kind of ride! It's not going to feel the same....
^I have never been to Dollywood, and I don't really care to go there. I don't see nothing that is special for me to go there. The only thing that is there that would be something maybe is that EuroFighter (Mystery Mine), but others have said it's rough.
The only way to compare those inversions is based on other coasters I've been on because I haven't been on Swarm or Wild Eagle.

Any enthusiast (hell, even most of the GP) knows that the back of a coaster is going to get pulled through the course harder and faster than the rest of the train. Do you ride Raging Bull in the back row and expect to get the same experience you do in the middle of the train? Expecting B&M to alter physics is asking a little much.
Ilovethevu wrote:but besides those parts, for instance the Zero-G rolls don't feel very intense at all compared to Batman.
The Zero-G on Batman is completely different from the Zero-G on X-Flight. Batman's Zero-G is not a parabola-like figure. The entrance to the inversion is on the first uphill and then the majority of the inversion is "flat" before the exit. 1/4 of the inversion is uphill, 1/2 of the inversion is flat, and the last 1/4 is downhill. X-Flight's Zero-G is more of a parabola. There is no "entrance" and then a "flat" spot for the inversion. It's very very gradual. Had it been built like Batman's, you would be hauling through it and rotating a lot faster.

You're comparing the airtime of a coaster that has three rows seated eight across to a coaster with eight rows seated two across on both sides of the track and then comparing both to a coaster that has eight rows seated four across. No wonder you're getting different experiences.

What are you even comparing here? Riddler's and Mantis don't have Dive Loops coming off of their lift hills. You are not only comparing two completely different types of coasters (again) but you are comparing coasters that don't have anything close to the same element off of the lift hill. Do you want a 30ft pre-drop so you can haul through the half twist off of the lift? I do not understand.

Got it. Let's bulk up the restraints some more and completely eliminate the entire experience the coaster is supposed to provide.

I'm sorry, but some of this is ridiculous.
Not so fast. I think Ilovethevu is right. Superman's metal restraints are enormous, but Superman's flexible vest allows you to have lots of wiggle room which adds to the experience of air time. X-Flights metal restrains are fine. But X-Flight's flexible vest gets a lot tighter than Superman's and takes away all possibility that you might be able to move in your seat. Sitting glued into your seat makes for a really boring ride. I've never felt so unable to move on a ride as I did on X-Flight, and it was not a fun feeling.
Back to X-Flight I was very impressed with the crew. They kept the trains moving and only stopped if there was someone who didn't fit really. I thought the lined didn't seem long at all and I guess it helps to be surrounded by the coaster to watch it. I was expecting it to be terrible like Superman usually is but alas it wasn't. A nice surprise. Now let's see what happens when the line is out into the midway this weekend. Temps are supposed to be in the mid to upper 80's with total sunshine so I'm sure everyone will flock to the park to experience the ride!!
I guess this is a board in which you can't have any opinions. If I said the ride stunk, I would get hollered at, but yet I explain why I didn't think the ride is the greatest ride, and I still get hollered at. I think it's a good ride, but it's not great to me.
As for Dollywood, well the Tennessee Tornado I figure I have Demon and sometimes I visit Kings Island with Vortex. Cedar Point has Corkscrew which is a smaller ride than those, but it's okay. For Wild Eagle, reports don't sound like that it's intense of a ride. For Mystery Mine, this is what I thought would be the stand out ride, but people say it's rough. For Blazing Fury, sure it might have potential but I'm half into dark rides. I wouldn't travel that far for a dark ride. For Thunderhawk, I bet you the ride is probably good, but I'll stick with my PTCs which I really like. I like Out and Backs the best though. They took out the Topple Tower which I thought was an interesting ride WHICH is NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN. I don't care to ride River Battle. The Disko; there is one at Kings Island even though it's a different sytle - the Disko Coaster. That Disko coaster, I'm not that impressed with. It's okay I guess. For a ride like Barnstormer, I have been on Skyhawk, and I like the KMG Afterburner at carnivals better - more intense.

I think we all need to remember it's her opinion. I love the ride, but then again, I also try to remember that I am a fan of roller coasters and not trying to be a critic.
And hey, if that is YOUR thing, awesome. I love that we are all allowed to dissect a ride, or just have fun, and enjoy it.
I love roller coasters because it's one of the only things that takes me back to riding Shockwave that first time, or hell, experiencing anything that first time. You are excited, a little nervous not knowing what to expect, and exhilarated.
Hell, who am I kidding, riding almost any ride does that to me (except the nervous part)
