X-Flight new for 2012

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

The 4D's aren't rough. I had heard about them "shaking" before I rode one but I'd describe it as more of a "bounce". However, just like with a B&M Flyer, the only time you feel strong G's on a 4D is when you're in the position of lying on your back. I think it has as much to do with stress on the rider's body in the restraints as it does stress on the vehicle itself.
Record is 1994. 57 visits. I'm still bruised.

Looks like the solution to the comfort issues Arrow and Intamin ran into is to simply design any forces out of the layout. Really unfortunate to hear. Knowing this, I'm slightly more interested (than I was) in how Dollywood's design rides, seeing as it is the one most unlike the other three.

Let me guess. You read these reviews from the tools over at Theme Park Review? I don't think anyone here thought X-Flight was going to be a high forceful experience. The lift and drop of Wild Eagle is exactly like X=Raptors. Also , Wild Eagle has the layout of alot of other Beemers. At least Swarm and X-Flight have an inversion on the first drop.

Actually, some of the reviews I've read at TPR of Swarm were overall good. The force issue always comes up, and people said it's not an incredible ride, but they said it was very rerideable in the various seats and fun. I have not seen anyone call it flat out "lame."

Yeah, I'm very encouraged by the high ratings for rerideability. It was already obvious just from seeing how far apart the wings are, but it's good to hear it confirmed.

Are they behind schedule? Anyways, shouldn't they be testing the ride in about 3 weeks? The park opens in 49 days.

Check out this Swarm video, the water jets are already dying. Pretty wimpy for only days of operation. I can only imagine how long it'll be before they just forget about them altogether and never turn them on.

As far as I know the ones on Manta and Raptor are still working fine, so perhaps there's a specific reason they chose to not have them shot very high?

Landscaping is I think the only major thing left including of course the final finishing touches with electricity, station and so on. Plenty of time.

Before landscaping, the control tower and the hangar both need to be constructed. They have a lot to do yet.

If you haven't seen Wild Eagle testing too, it looks slow. I have a feeling every wing rider (that isn't Intamin) will be really slow through the elements.

Webcam has been adjusted to focus on the station which is now nearly (if not) entirely framed. It looks significantly different than the station shown in the rendering.

Also, in the lower left, you can see they've started to frame the roof over the storage tracks. It appears that roof will slope down toward the Raceway Garage.

The station looks much bigger with that frame on it. The track is completely finished now right or do they still have one more piece?

Track is complete, I saw it while the camera was moving, but couldn't grab an image quick enough.

The webcam has been moved and a lot of progress on the station has been made.

Wow that brake run looks high. Looks like they will have to reroute the train.

If it's high, then wouldn't the train have MORE room to pass under?
I think someone said at No Coaster Con that the train WOULD pass under X-Flight twice (no rerouting).

I'm also really hoping that final helix gives you a good punch. The helices on Raging Bull are some of the best parts of the ride.

Raging Bull's brake run is much higher then that. And yes that helix looks very promising to me.

It's way over the height of the van. The transfer track/storage area looks like it's in the way of where the train used to run. Might have to put a jog or 2 in.

Keep in mind...I'm sure technology has changed pretty massively since 1999...even 2003 with S:UF. I'm sure they know what they're doing!

**Edit**
Besides...isn't the train running under the brake run? or somewhere in the neighborhood?

How many tests does a new coaster have to go through before everything is finalized? Also, after each offseason, how many of tests have to be done on the other rides in the park?
