Where in Mardi Gras will Ragin' Cajun Go?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby DejaVu28140 on January 25th, 2004, 3:09 pm
I was looking at the 2003 park map, and I was looking towards Roaring Rapids in Orleans Place(the new Mardi Gras area) and I noticed that there was hardly any room for a new coaster in that section. To me it looks like it could only fit like two of the four new flat rides going there. Can anyone tell me where they are going to place Ragin' Cajun? Thanks-Brian

The only place I think it could fit is in the middle of that big pond in the roaring rapinds queue because there is absolutily no other room. I think I heard it was going where the virtual reality thing i, which would require re-routing of the midway, and the roaring rapids line.

That or theyre stupid and theyre getting ridd of that cool wooden bridge into picnic grove. They dont use it, but they should because that and the rapinds waterfall make the area look like a pirate cove a little bit.

Weren't they going to expand that area? I think if they some how do that and redo the midway, there would be room.

Yes, don't forget, they said they were tearing out most of that area, so I'm sure that they will have room. It does, after all, have a very small footprint.

Well, you can start calling them stupid because that is where the coaster will be going. The suspension bridge from what I am told is already gone.

Aww, I loved that bridge. Looked so rickety and unstable. I think something like that would look great in Yukon/Yankee Harbor.

Da Rcman2001, that is PGA not SFGA. Our bridge is next to Roaring Rapids and the entrance to the picnic area. A big hint is the mountains in the background. Maybe you were just using a picture of PGA to show the bridge. But i believe out Yankee Harbor never exactly looked like theirs.

Im seeing in signatures: "RIP The Bridge?" WTF?
It's a little bridge that people rarely used....get over it. :)

EDIT: Nevermind just saw SFGAmViper's post I see why you are doing this now. But please no topics about "Petitions to get the bridge back" or "The bridge will be rebuilt." Thank you very much :)

And your point is bmrider? They were IDENTICAL parks except for 3 rides. And that IS where our bridge is, by the way. Its looking across the harbor from v2s area toward necropolis (where the bridge is).

They were not identical parks. Yes, they still had the same section of the parks. But the theming of the sections werent the same. Our bridge is closer to Yankee Clipper than their bridge. The only thing dividing Yankee and the brige is the walk way to the Picnic area.

Have you guys even been to both? they are so alike. Even the landscaping in some untouched areas. The buildings in both yukon and yankee are the same, and they were identical except for a car ride, a kiddie coaster, and the sky trek tower. I was in line 4 loggers run at pga and the river (stream) underneath is exactly identical.

To slowly ease the pain of the now demolished bridge, I was looking around for a prospective layout for Ragin Cajin. I am guessing that we are getting the Spinning Coaster Model and not the Compact Spinning coaster model. Here is a link with a page to that layout.

http://www.reverchon.com/an/spinningcphotos.htm

Has there been any paper or website that has an official picture of the layout? I am highly doubtful of it being an original.

Also is there any idea of what the colors are going to be? I bet that the new yellow on Batman is going to be there somewhere.
you can't believe it - you didn't mean it
but they saw you do it and they know your name

I can see that fitting where Powerdive and the Edge was. Any hard evidence of them saying it was going over where the "bridge" was? To me that would seem to crowded over there.
Waiting to fill this space with something stupid to say!

I actually heard it was going where VR party was, whatever, same area. Since the coaster is going in the new Mardi Gras section I'm guessing its colors are going to be Green, Purple, and Gold/yellow.

From what I have been told Ragin Cajun will go approximately to the right of Roaring Rapids Enterance. Is this the bridge that is being spoken of in that area?

Also other ride locations will be (will also post this in the approiate thread)

King Chaos (All new Style Floorless Huss Top Spin) will go where Power Dive was.

Big Easy Balloons (Zamperla Baloon Race) will go where Cajun Cliffhanger used to be located, though will take up slightly more room, not sure if it will be pushed back futher towards Batman or expanded out onto the midway.

Revolution (standard Park model Huss frisbee relocated from SFGAdv) is already sitting (still in pieces) where Ameri-Go-Round used to sit.

(dont ask, I probably wont tell) :)

And the location for Jesters Wild Ride (Zamperla Rockin Tug, Not Disk'O) is undetermined at this time, however it is a portable ride and can really be stuck where ever theres room.

Also Reverchon Spinning Mice also only come in portable models, and ours will likely sit on a flat concrete slab, unless Zamperla makes major changes which I'm pretty sure they are not authorized to do.
