footers? WHERE!?

Considering how fast Wild Eagle's construction is going, I think once X-Flight goes vertical it will be quick. I don't expect the fly through objects and other scenery to be up until next year.

That looks a bit small for a support footer, it could be for something else like a sign or something....

That was my photo, and that was for a light post that was previously in the area.

But i remember under the pic you said "footers are here" or something along those lines. But if you consider those against the size of say IW they don't look like footers. Then again six flags probably want to waste money on extra cement.

Went last night again, and they really cleaned up alot since last weekend. The skee ball game, the whole Great America Raceway queue house were completely demolished. The old karaoke stage was gated off, but it was still standing for now. It looks like it will be gone soon. So much for the GAR queue being used for X.

Here is a picture from today (10/22/11)
Most everything (except the Idle stage is gone. That stage has very little left, so by next week that should be gone too.
Notice the tree and lightpost from the midway (far right in pic) and how much the construction zone has moved out so far into the midway.

Today there was a lot of gravel hills and machines in the area. Not much action all day though. I dont know if anyone else saw this but at night the had lights on the sight that looked like an X. IDK how they did it but it was sweet.

Wow, they're basically removing everything along the midway there. It's really gonna be a tight squeeze.

Skeeball is still standing. The County Fair stage is in the process of being removed.

My bad on the skee ball. I walked by the area quickly. I thought the whole side was cleared and empty from old smoking section.

This video of raptor pretty much shows a lot of everything ours will do because it has the same exact signatures with some slight differences

How much will the building of the ride be affected if we have another winter like last year? They are saying it will be worst this year

As long as the concrete footers are in before winter, they'll be fine. Vertical Construction doesn't take as long as everyone thinks....But winds tend to slow things down.

I believe the concrete footers can only settle properly above certain temperatures. They are saying we are in for a bad winter. I don't know if they will get the station or other buildings/props up until next year but probably just the track for this year.

Ours is quite a bit different than Raptor but more like The Swarm. We have different inversions and drop but everything else will be similar.

Concrete cures exothermically, plus most of the footer is below the frost line where it's always roughly in the 40's. They can place footers in any weather/temp as long as they cover them.

The hardest part is always jack hammering though the top 2 feet or so of frozen mud/dirt to dig the hole.

I know concrete can solidify under cold temperatures, but it sometimes can have a hard time settling properly. I have seen it crack on its own many times when forming in extreme temperatures but probably nothing we will see for a while regarding temperature so I'm sure they will be fine.
