X-Flight new for 2012

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

While "boring videos" may deter some people from the park, I don't think it has a huge impact (if any) to make a rule about it. I think it's more about rider safety and legal issues.

Ummm, really?

I'm with train here. I've watched a couple of the videos, and sure, they give you an idea.

I ride these rides for the experience and the fun of doing it with my son.

I dunno. To me these rides are all about experiences, how you feel, what it does to you, the nervousness, then excitement.

All crap Youtube doesn't capture. That's just me though... :D

Agreed.

Actually, every time I see a video, I want to ride it MORE, even if it’s a bad ride. Videos just make you want to EXPERIENCE the ride. You can watch the world’s tallest drop on video a million times and be amazed by it, but until you’re ON it, you never get FULL excitement.

Well unless it's a really painful coaster than riding the ride is always better then watching a video of it

Great report! Where any of the machines running when you took the pictures? It seems they get a lot done during the week but i wonder if they run them during operating hours.

http://www.youtube.com/user/sixflagsgre ... end=8&ob=5 That's the park's official youtube, featuring POV videos of their rides...I don't think that people knowing what the rides are like from youtube is really a concern.

Goku1910 wrote:People might not like what they see on youtube, thus ruining the chances of them visiting.

See above comment...

Goku1910 wrote:Great America really tries to prevent riders (outside of TPR and Coaster-NET) from recording, but as you know, it still gets through.

Nobody but the park's marketing department is allowed to film on their rides, despite what certain people may say.

I have never noticed the leg guards on Raptor at Gardaland until right now....Thats gonna suck for the inside seats, its a metal bar that looks uncomfortable if hit with your leg. Anyone know what this is like if youve been there??

Why exactly is the brace there and not on the other inside seats?

Another Facebook post worth mentioning:

Memorial Day Weekend: https://www.facebook.com/SFGreatAmerica ... 0530306356

They were very careful not to mention the park opening day but we can come to the assumption it is before X-Flight's opening day.

They announced that a while back saying their target is before Memorial Day weekend. I certainly hope its opening is in May even if it's not opening day. I know B&M's don't normally have any trouble delays but the park better have everything ready to go sooner than later!

I didn't see any announcement on facebook or press release. And it wasn't posted here. So tell me, where is this announcement? Give me a link to an Official Six Flags news source and I'll believe you.

Here is where I saw it. It's one of the photos on X-Flight construction album. I wasn't trying to discredit or be rude to you in any way it's just I thought I remembered seeing it somewhere. :) For some reason I thought it was back in September they posted that but I was wrong so it wasn't that long ago.

I see the brace on other rows too. not just the front easily can identify in row 4 train's right side there is a leg brace. I honestly dont understand why they have this on a coaster where they want to have nothing around you. I don't see anything protecting you on a floorless coaster why should they have leg protection on this ride?

Actually I can't take credit for finding that. Someone on another board brought it up.

As for the leg brace on the other seats, I only see it in the front. The other cars just have a brace that is against the side of your leg but nothing covering the front of your leg.

Yeah the braces on the other cars don't wrap around the front of your leg.
And the wing rider setup is a bit different from the floorless. On a floorless you have nothing to hit your swinging leg on laterally, whereas on the wing rider, you've got the car itself to hit. The braces barely seem useful at all, but it IS a different situation.
I'm guessing they just don't want to retrofit anything to the cars after some idiot intentionally tries to get their leg caught between the track and car.

Honestly with us seeing track, supports, and footers already, im guessing that X-Flight will be up by Memorial Day only if they have problems with anything. They seem to be moving fast with getting the site cleared.
