Yes I said that. Bing's pro: the actual image was taken at an appropriate angle from the ground, which is similar to the angle that you're looking at the X-Flight image. Bing's con: you're restricted to a certain compass rotation.
Earth's pro: you can select the appropriate ground angle AND compass rotation. Earth's con: the imagery is all straight down, so you STILL can't line it up accurately because the X-Flight image is at a different ground angle than Earth.
Are you guys really complaining that you can't line up the map perfectly for the 3d picture to fit right? Sheesh, I thought he did a pretty good job giving us a good idea on how X-Flight will fit in there.

I'm not complaining. I'm just assuring people that trying harder isn't going to make it better because of the above reasons. We all know exactly what it's going to look like and where, but I'm just saying you can't do it graphically with certainty.
On Saturday I asked a worker over by the food court what he thought was going to happen to the building that was used for servicing the cars on Great American Raceway and he said nothing. He told me that there are plans to demolish the building later this week. I know that we can't really trust what workers say and I don't know if I really believe the guy but I thought I would just share what was said to me.
Doesn't sound like he said nothing! I doubt he knows though. Probably the only ones who do know for sure are those working on the project and the big wigs.

If the raceway garage is still there now, it's not going anywhere. Why would they remove buildings near the midway before the one in the dead center of the construction area? That makes no sense.

The Raceway garage not only housed the "garage" for fixing cars, but on the other side of the building it also contained the computer system and electronic components of Splashwater Falls. Perhaps they plan on reusing that building for X-Flights computer equipment, and electrical transformers.
With the non-removal of the raceway gas tank, and the fact that there are still raceway cars around the park, I suspect that Raceway may be "dead" currently, but I wonder about it's future as being re-done yet again. It was once a figure 8 three lane track and reconfigured for splash water falls as a two track oval, perhaps its being re-configured again this time to go around x-flight. I could easily see it being reconfigured this time as a one track course, oval.
I don't see a need for two-tracks, my time operating the ride resulted in only 1 weekend that both tracks were used in one season.
I really hope we start seeing a pattern here with the X-Flight pieces coming in. If we get a couple new pieces of track or supports a week ill be happy with that. It seems like that may be what we are looking at. And someone tell SFGAm to put the construction cam up already!!!

^hey thanks for welcoming me to the forums...NOT...'cause nobody did. but it's okay. but yea i think that it would be really cool if they reconfigured the raceway. I would be sad to see it go completely considering that it used to be one of those rides that my parents would take me on as a little kid. Also that would allow for some amazing pictures of what will surely be an amazing ride.
^^ Obviously. But technically, any illegal photos should not be posted on this site:

I really hate it when someone drops their camera on the antique cars and it beams some poor sap in the head.

I think the other reason Six Flags doesn't allow cameras besides possible injury is because they know it will mostly end up on youtube, people won't visit the park if they know what the rides are like already. People might not like what they see on youtube, thus ruining the chances of them visiting. Great America really tries to prevent riders (outside of TPR and Coaster-NET) from recording, but as you know, it still gets through.

Well if they watched whizzer and thought: "eh, looks boring." It would have an influence on their thought of value. Thankfully, most parents these days don't even know what youtube is.
