Wild Mouse may equal the demise of Whizzer?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby EVOed8 on January 24th, 2004, 2:49 am
Anyone think about this? In 2000, supposidly Whizzer wasn't removed because it was the only "Family" coaster left in the park. Maybe with the addition of the mouse, the park will push the fact that it is a family coaster in order to remove Whizzer unnoticed. I love Whizzer and would hate to see it go, but this pay be a potential SFGAm plan. Thoughts?

Yeah, because it's not like whizzers minimum height is a whole foot less than this new ones.

I do not think they will remove Whizzer any time soon. It's popularity will not die down that fast and they know it. They will probably wait a few years

That would be a ridiculous move if you ask me. I can't see them tearing down Whizzer any time soon... Families will still enjoy that ride for years.

Come on guys, the park isn't just for us enthusiasts, it's for families too.

Yeah, its a family ride, but from what I hear, it's a maintnence nightmere.

Rides don't last forever, and I believe its only a matter of time before that ride becomes too expensive to run. But, for now, I think it will be staying for a while.

I think the only reason they're adding Ragin Cajun is because of the popularity of the Whizzer at the end of the 2002 season, when they were going to tear it down.

Why would they do that? Where they are going to be putting RC is going to be no where by the Whizzer.

No! It doesn't He added a family coaster to increase family attendance. And it would be a stupid move to take down whizzer within the next couple of years. This new guy wants Whizzer to stay. And it would be a very stupid move to take it down.

Besides, without paving over the Whizzer lagoon, theres not much you could fit there... not enough room for much of a coaster (heck, the only reason Whizzer fits is the corkscrew lift), and if they do pave it over, the park will lose so much more ambience.

Also it would be stupid to take it down because we would be without a step up coaster. Whizzer is 36" w/adult and the spinning mice rides i've been on are 48"
Waiting to fill this space with something stupid to say!

The only thing that would bring Whizzer down are it's high maintenence costs (and SFGAm does a great job keeping it open). I do not expect Whizzer to close anytime soon.

I didnt know that whizzer had corkscrews, there is plenty of room there and they can build footers in water so why would they pave it?

Its usually referred to as a spiral lift.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

You all know Superman: Ultimate Flight's layout fits perfectly where Whizzer stands, right? That's a pretty large ride to fit this "landlocked" area of park. Besides, look around Whizzer, and behind it. There's lots of room for expansion if this ride was removed. (Don't take this the wrong way, I love Whizzer and want it to stay.)

Well unlike a lot of you I HATE the Whizzer. Last time I rode it I got smacked in the face at least ten times by the trees, its just not worth the money it takes to keep it open.

But anyway I think it's gonna stay because of the fans, oh well, I tried

If the Whizzer doesn't stay, it must mean that SFGAm is moving towards a park that will go downhill and become high thrill coasters only, and I don't want that. I thought that's what was happening when they first added DejaVu and V2.

Theme parks need variety...that's what keeps attendance up. I don't think that by keeping the Whizzer up, people aren't going to come to the park anymore.

Oh please. You expect people to believe that line of bull?
I am 6ft 3 in. tall and I have never even come close to smacking a tree with my face.

Even on the helix, I have to stretch to touch a branch.

Give a realistic reason why you don't like the Whizzer.

The only thing they have in common is there both family coasters. They give 2 totally different rides. I don't see how they would be able to remove by saying they have another family coaster. ;)
Eh, what's up?
