If that letter is really from the president, I wouldn't even believe it because they make claims to be the best waterpark in the nation, and they claim to be the cleanest park in the world. So, can I really trust the park about such things? Not really. Anyway though, on the flipside if you are the park president, and people ask you is Iron Wolf is going to leave the park, what are you going to say? Six Flags doesn't want the public to know that Iron Wolf is about to leave because they want it gone. They don't want complaints about oh you are taking it down, so they try to keep it secret. If he says that Iron Wolf will be around for awhile, you could interpret that as much as you can the best waterpark in the nation. What's awhile? 1 month, 2 months. 2 1/2 months?
"As an avid supporter of keeping Great America's classic rides at Great America, I can assure you that Iron Wolf will thrill guests for many years to come" And also with this snipet from the letter, you can also interpret it as we love keep our classic rides like Triple Play, Demon, Batman the Ride, Whizzer, and Iron Wolf isn't a classis, thus Iron Wolf will thrill guests AT ANOTHER PARK for years to come. So, is the guy really lying? Not really.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
Iron Wolf was B&M's first ride so there is a little historical value in it. Otherwise, I really couldn't care less if Wolf leaves. It is my favorite standup, but that's like comparing favorite STD's. Out with the old in with the new.
tribar wrote:First of all SF told everyone that GASM would not be leaving the park. There was also a similiar thing with a date that happaned with Chang. IW is not a classic and if the park cared about classics then we would have Great America Raceway. Finally Hank said last year that we would NOT get a water attraction for 2011
1. SFGADv NEVER said Gasm wouldn't be leaving. They said the RUMORED DATE OF IT CLOSING was wrong.
2. Although unlikely, Great America Raceway might not be completely done, I haven't seen them do any work to remove track, or the station, queue and whatnot, so maybe they have some cool revamp plans for it. If it does go..who'll notice? I never saw a line for it, even on Saturdays with everything else having two hour lines.
3. I was at TPR day, and to clarify, Hank said we wouldn't get another attraction in the ride park, as he felt four, (five if you count the jets in Kidzopolis) was enough. He didn't say we wouldn't see something new in HH.
About the letter he sent. While it is open in interperation, he says he's an avid supporter of keeping classic rides at Great America, and only Great America, not just within the Six Flags chain.
Now, I'm not trying to say that IW is for sure safe, as I do relize that if a coaster were to go soon, its one of the more likely canidates. I've just seen that on multiple sites, people are taking this rumor and running with it and assumin IW is leaving for sure. I'm just trying to present some reasons on why it might stay, even if just for a few years.
If this does leave, they better put up something good in it's place. Not necessarily a coaster, but a good flat would work too. I just hope it doesn't sit unoccupied for a few seasons like the SWF area has.
I honestly would miss Iron Wolf alot. It can be really great if you know how to ride. Most people dont even give the ride a chance because of its reputation. I love seeing it tower over the Yukon/County Fair area. I will probably riding Iron Wolf atleast 20-30 times before September 5th. And if they have a send-off party like they did with GASM, I will definatley try to be invited.

If there is a method of riding required in order to enjoy it, that's proof it needs to go.
^ I wouldnt say that for sure, a lot depends of the persons height. To get the smoothest ride possible, I adjust how I sit/ride on Demon, V2, Batman, and Viper and I don't want to see any of those leave anytime soon.
Who ever is a fan of Iron Wolf, I was at the park the other day and they are selling blue prints of Iron Wolf in Carousel Gifts just like they did with American Eagle. Just thought it was worth mentioning.

How do you adjust how you sit? Plant your behind and go!
I would love if Iron Wolf is removed, but a lot of things can happen in the next few months. I thought Great America would get Chang last year but they didn't. I feel like this forum is looking pretty stupid right now with everyone changing the avatar pictures to Iron Wolf, what if it doesn't get removed

I don't remember when the TPR day was last year, but weren't we still on the roster for Chang at that point? That may have influenced that answer as well. They probably spent roughly the same amount building the waterpark expansion as they would for moving Chang here, so they really didn't hafta budge the budget too much. But that's neither here nor there. The fact that in the 4 times I've been to the park this year, there has been no line each and every time. You gotta think that the cost of operation is far more than what the Wolf is bringing into the park. By saying that I mean, if you were to require each person entering the park to answer what ride they NEED to ride today...you probably wouldn't get much. Well, with the bandwagon growing with the whole wolf-pocalypse...who knows?

Oh man. Remember at FF 2006(?) we met up at the park later at night and you were raving about Iron Wolf because they set up the fog machines around it? It was a damn good ride that year.
It's the unpopular opinion around here, but I love everything about that ride. Where it is in the park, the layout, the yellow lights in the station at night, the obnoxiously loud drive tires on the way back in. Sure, it may not be the smoothest ride in the park, but I enjoy it quite a bit.
I do love Iron Wolf. No matter how many times others say that it is rough, which it is, there is a classic feel about it that keeps me addicted and riding it over and over again!
At the same time, however, the public has been waiting forever for a new roller coaster and if Iron Wolf must be sacrificed, then we must deal with the loss.
Last Visit, American Eagle BACKWARDS 5 times in a row right before the park closed. I cannot WAIT to go back for Fright Fest!

Good times. Iron Wolf in the front row at night > Any other standup I've been on. Not afraid to say that. Darting in and out of the trees, quick turns, and making sure to keep your head as far to the right as possible after the corkscrew. It's a fun ride.
And Cole, you know that was directed at all the IW haters as a joke, not just you individually

Yeah Imagine all the sad faces and people after dejavu left. If IW truly does leave then that means a better coaster is on its way.
