People are confusing everything here.

First only the back haft of Orleans Place is being re-themed to Mardi Gras (After the Train overpass) The first part will still remain Orleans Place.

Construction has already begun. They tore down everything except for the restaurant.

Wild Mouse Coaster will be were the Virtual Reality Place use to be. (Which is right next to the Roaring Rapids Entrance.)

That’s not all there doing. They are painting the Demon and Batman.

Adding 6 new shows. The One in the Theater Royal will be the Las Vegas Style Magic Show with Bugs Bunny and his Friends. The Southwest Ampatheather will have the same show as last year with some new stuff in it. There will be a show every hour by the Columbia Carousel featuring Bugs Bunny. The other shows they did not tell us about.

And that’s not all, they are also will be bring the characters back into the Park. You will see them more often then every before.

All in All they are making SFGAM a Family Park like it used to be.

Oh, I was under the impression that all of Orleans Place was getting redone. I didn't hear anywhere that it was only after the train.

First of all, they are ripping out evrything around orleans gazebo (back half) except orleans grill and "a feww game stalls". Probibly the ones on the oposite end of the midway. The other flats are probibl either goin here the kajun cliffhanger, powerdive, and the ther games were.

Also, whats a seaside natical theme? The name makes it sound dumb enough. Stick to the good old new england stuff six flags.

Also I knew it was only the one half because theres no cranes visible and they said "2 acre lot south of the orleans place area of the park." There you go.

But did they come right out and say they are still keeping some of orleans or are you just infering as to what was said? It seems kind of stupid to keep some of Orleans Place and Mardi Gras right next to each other.

They kept the good orleans place, and took out the area near the rapids, and renovated it.

With the addition of the new section, I hope they will start the trolleys again. They can make them look similar to the trolleys on jesters wild ride.

I wish they would be like disney and release artist renderings.=, because that would help a lot.

They could never run the trolley. On some (most) days, the midway is so packed with people that there's no way they'd be able to pull it off. It'd probably be quite a safety issue, people could run out in front of it, there would maybe be people in the way and they'd have to stop the trolley. I can't see it ever happening.

da rcman where did you read this stuff? Are you just assuming it or something? According to the Press Release they make it sound like the whole Orleans Place is getting rethemed...which would make more sense then rethemeing half a area.

In essence they are not re-theming the south section of Orleans place they are just making it a sub-theme of the overall Orleans Place theme. Much like Camp Cartoon Network and Looney Tunes National Park are sub-themes of Yukon. To me it makes perfect sence. In an area of the park that has been in desparate need of an overhaul, this is refreshing.

I really like what they are doing, bringing back the good ole family days and combining them with the new cutting edge coaster days - can't complain with that :). All of Orleans will be called Mardi Gras but only south of the tracks will be completely renovated.

The one in the harold said that they are renovating a 2 ACRE area SOUTHEAST of orleans place. All will be destroyed but a few games, new orleans grill, and the rapids.

I also know about some stuff because the next day in the harold they had ANOTHER article with more info. And I think they are keeping orleans place orleans place, only changing the name of the south end.

Ok as stated at NCC the 2 acre area south of the train tracks will be the area that is gutted out and rebuilt. And all of orleans will be rethemed to Mardi Gras.

According to that second article you mentioned, it states "The park unveiled its $6 million Mardi Gras-themed renovation of the Orleans section of the park." Now why dont you come to the conclusion that all of orleans place will be rethemed to Mardi Gras.

A more detailed article is now available from the News Sun.

The spinning mouse coaster will have a minimum height requirement of 42".
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

BMRider is wrong Tim Black, Susie Story or any of the PR people never said the Orleans place would become Mardi Gras. They said the South Section of Orleans place would be Mardi Gras. They never said anything about Re-naming the 1st part of Orleans Place. All the 4 rides will be place in the new area. If you think you cannot fit 4 rides in that section you are wrong. Think about it. It can all fit with lots of room left for games ect. Also, there was a photo in Saturdays Daily Herald that showed the de-construction. Although I have not seen the photo my self, I know people who have and they said everything is gone. The only thing standing is Orleans Grill and the Rapids Ride.

The press release is the thing that talks about changing it into Mardi Gras.

As quoted here:
SFGAm Press Release wrote:Plans to update, expand and renew the existing Orleans Place section of the park will convert the area into a non-stop Mardi Gras party. The newly themed Mardi Gras section will host four of the park's five new rides, including Six Flags Great America's 13th coaster, Ragin' Cajun, live entertainment and themed restaurants.

The photo was aiming at new orleans grill, and had stacks of walls piled up on the ground to the side. It looked like the pavement was messed u too.

Also, some other proof that orleans place isnt going anywhere is that they said everything would be scrapped but the rapids, a few games, and a resteraunt. Well, next year a magic shos goin in the theatre next to suf, and suf aint goin anywhere, or any onther rides in the section.

You people need to read stuff carefully.
