Why? They aren't that old. They just look bad because people abuse the hell out of them.

I'm guessing, or at least hoping he meant the new style restraint as seen on Maverick, Kingda Ka, etc, which I'm not sure would be possible. If not, I haven't ridden V2 in a few years now, but I never noticed the restraints looking especially bad. If anything SFGAm would just send the existing OTSR's, along with the seat inserts for that matter, to Tyaut or Ralph Alberts for a new coat of Ride Hyde. I kinda remember the seat inserts looking a little shabby even a few years back when they were on the old train.

So we don't know if it will be running in 33 days? When do they put the train on and start testing?

If you want to see it run, go by the park 4/9-4/10 and 4/16-4/17.

You'll get your answer then.

I didn't mean brand new restrants like the ones seen on Kingda Ka. Even though they are not that old they look horrible. Some of them even have duck tape on them! To me that just looks bad. I apologize, I should have been more specific in saying that there are really only a few of them that need replacing not every single one.

The V2 restrains were looking really bad in May of last year. I can only imagine what the other 5 months of the year did to them.

Restraints can easily be replaced the ride does not even need to close, it's a matter of SFGAm allocating the money to buy new restraints. SF Corporate only allocates a certain amount of fixer-upper budget for projects and the park gets to decide what to do with it, after doing the projects they do on a yearly basis (rehab 2 Eagle trains and a Demon train, refurbish a bathroom, replace roofs on various buildings, etc) they probably didn't have any left to buy new restraints for V2.

A lot of parks don't replace restraints that look bad....it's just if they can function safely. Six Flags only closes cars with severe cosmetic damage. (Big chunks missing)

At least Bull got new restraints....It needed them the most. Cosmetic damage in most cars.

^ I was very disappointed with the new lapbars on Bull's red train last season. They were still an improvement since the old ones all had chunks missing, but by the end of the season, the lapbars on red train had white spots all over on the underside and around the grab bars.

Of course they still look like garbage, but they're functional, and that's what Six Flags wants. The restraints on most rides look like crap when it comes to terms of color.

I've always found it strange some coasters at SFGAm do not have covered storage tracks, you'd think they would want to keep the trains, especially Whizzer's, from getting pounded by the elements during the season. CP just dumps their trains on wood palattes and leaves them outside during the offseason and the seats on Dragster/MF look like total crap.

Bulls storage tracks are covered with a shed at least, the tarps (as with Whizzer) are used mainly on cold days to warm up the trains in the morning to prevent the ride from valleying.

^^ Bull never even had its tarp up during Fright Fest last season. I would like to know why the restraints on red train are turning white. The old ones, no matter how worn they were, it was still some shade of red.

Who knows, maybe they were rushed through the painting process?

I was on a Cedar Point tour back in Dec, the trains that are sitting in the parking lot uncovered are awaiting refurb/maintenance. After that's done, they are shrink wrapped or stored indoors according to the park.

I am definitely hoping that Raging Bull looks new. I mean the restraints on Bulls blue train has chunks missing, it almost looked like people were seriously hungry and just took a chomp out of the lap restraint. People need to take better care of our park. They complain and ask wheres our new coaster, maybe if you people took better care of the park and acted like civilized sapiens the park would probably have more money to spend on coasters and not on maintaining the park and your prayers/answers maybe would of been already answered.

I don't think people are necessarily the reason restraints are in such bad shape. It's normal wear and tear, Sunlight (UV Rays), Ozone and Moisture, especially acidic sweat and vomit along with cleaners/disinfectants is what breaks down the foam of the various restraints. Riders are the last link in the chain of physically tearing apart the weakened foam. Restraints can be sent out to various companies to be refinished with new polyurethane foam and colored coating for a very reasonable cost.

Here are the 3 major companies that specialize in the refinishing of Amusement ride padding..

http://www.tyautdesigns.com/Flexible%20Foam.htm (larson, ARM, Chance, KMG, Vekoma)

http://www.rsalberts.com/urethane-foam.php (PTC, Arrow, Sally, some Vekoma)

http://www.hubner-germany.com/en/sports ... ducts.html (they do some stuff for Vekoma along with most stuff for B&M and Intamin amongst other things)

All 3 companies can re do the foam and exterior coatings for just about any seat/harness from any ride, regardless of manufacturer. Most US parks use Tyaut and Ralph Alberts Ride Hyde X3.
