Do you think American Eagle should considered be two coaster or one.

All racing coasters are all listed as one rollercoasters when indeed there two seperate ones, I believe that they are two seperate coasters, but since the coaster only has one name and is not two seperate coasters, they list it as one, to not cause confusion to guest and whatnot.

But I personally consider American Eagle as 2 coasters. :D

American Eagle is two coasters in my book. The layouts are a bit different after the helix, and now one train goes backwards while the other one goes forward, so that makes them more different. I conisder every racing coaster as two coasters.

I consider AE as one coaster; same name, same height, same station, it's advertised as one coaster, I'd say it's one.

I have always said that Eagle was two coasters just because of the difference in layouts on each side..there is an extra hill on the red sides return and the blue sides helix is a lot tighter than red. The backwards forwards thing doesnt affect it in my opinion. For comparison, I do not count the Racer at PKI or Rebel Yell at PKD as two coasters. I do count Gwazi and Lightning Racer as two. Guess it depends where you draw the line.

I consider them 2 too. Especialy since they both give very different rides. (forwards, backwards)

Why does everyone think that forewards or backwards has anything to do with it being two different coasters?! Find yourself some different logic. In the 2001 season, when they were not racing, was it just one rollercoaster then? Its senseless to say that it's two coaster just because the trains are oriented a certain way.

I had always though of them as two rollercoasters before I thought about it. I honestly believe it's one. First, it has the same name and station (que line for most of the time too). I'm sure they probably could of run the coaster from one controll pannel if they so desired (Laws probably prohibit this though). Second, it shares pretty much the entire structure with the other side. The lift is on the same structure, the station is on one structure, the helix is one structure, brake run is one structure. Other than a helix and a few bunny hills, it's the same exact structure. I would think that two coasters would have a bit more of their own structure to themselves. Third, It seems as though most every creditable source (Including this website) list this coaster as being one coaster. On the polls you don't see American Eagle Blue and American Eagle Red, you simply see American Eagle.

I don't think that how a coaster 'rides' has anyting to do with it being different. Raging Bull gives different rides at different times of the day, for example.

For marketing purposes: its 2 coasters which SFGAm does. 2003 season they advertised 12 coasters. In 2004 with the addition of the mouse coaster they will most likely say 13 coasters in their advertisements.

If SFGAm were in the hunt to say break the record for the most coasters in a park, they wouldnt be able to count AE as 2 coasters.

In the end, it really doesn't matter to me. :)

I guess now that I think about it, I always refer to it as two different coasters because each side has a different layout.
Finally Coaster Season!!

I never really thought about it....I always just considered it as one coaster. i dont walk around the park and ask if we're going to ride American Eagle Red or American Eagle Blue....just whichever side i want to go on, i go to.

Personally, I've always considered it one coaster but I agree that technically it is two.

What makes them not be able to count it as 2 different coasters? I count Eagle as 2 but I count Gemini and Collossus as just one. Just don't ask me my reason's behind this, as it is hard to explain.

If AE stays Red forward Blue backward, then I consider AE 2 coasters when they are both forward I do not.

I am pretty sure Guiness Book of World Records wouldn't allow them to count AE as 2 coasters if SFGAm was in the hunt for the most coasters in a park.

Once again I ask, How does the direction of a ride affect whether it's counted as one or two rides? Couldn't they theoretically run One train on blue forwards and one backwards; and one on red forwards and one backwards? Would that make 4 coasters? :?

lol....so confused....cant keep mind straight :x Well if you look at it, it has ways to be considered two and ways to be considered one. The only way we could know is if we call up Intamin and ask them ourselves. So argue all you want but I would go by what Intamin says. And they are the same length but have different layouts such as the helix for example.

RCDB classifies coasters like this as two rollercoasters if they are compleatly independent of eachother. I don't think you can tear one half of American Eagle down and have the other half operate safely.

Yes, but you can remove one of the tracks, close that side of the station, remove all the hardware and close the line; yet the other side can operate independently... so in that respect...

**Taking a break from my term paper**

 But this is structural. The 2 tracks cannot stand without the other. That would be the definition of compleatly.

How can American Eagle be only one complete ride when you can completely remove tracks/controls/cars/guest lines and STILL have one complete ride?

They share almost the entire support structure. Take all of Red's track and supports and the blue side wont stand up very long. In otherwords the rides need eachother to operate.
