Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Whoa whoa whoa. Respect may not pay for the park, but without respect, the park is getting nowhere. While the new coaster may be fun, taking out whizzer may end up outraging some of the adults due to it being replaced. As my earlier post was responded to, teens do not pay more at the park than families do. Adults and children alike loved that coaster and respect for the park is a part of what gets their bills paid.

No respect = less money. Less money = less coasters. Less coasters = less people. Less people = no park :o

whizzer is old, fact's a fact the ride will be removed eventually. It's unavoidable. Most families don't understand the reasoning behind the parks choices like we do so of course they'll be outraged; just like they were with shockwave.

The park has a monopoly on theme/amusement parks for the 3 largest city in America. At this point they could do whatever they want, good or bad, and make more then almost any regional park. All the chain cares about is padding the bottom line for shareholders.

I say its about time that "the families" get a real taste of what we coaster dorks feel after loosing a good coaster. I'm all for Whizzer staying but it won't hurt me as bad as it did when they removed Shockwave and Dejavu. No selfishness intended :) .

I know it won't happen, but I would laugh a bit if I saw a sign on Raging Bull saying "THE LAST TIME TO RIDE!" then a day later there's cranes by Whizzer xD

That's why I said I know it won't happen. Just so people don't get me wrong, I LOVE RB! As for that hypothesis, you know, wasn't Shockwave fairly popular even after RB opened? Even then it was kind of a kick to see a giant crane taking it down the next day.

Also, aren't we the "money making park"? Doesn't SFGAm bring in more money than the other theme parks?

That has never really been proven, but Great America has the largest variety of rides compared to others. Magic Mountain is all coasters for example.

Well meh. Even so, I'm a still a little miffed that almost every other park is getting a coaster next year -_- Maybe if we're lucky they'll care about the coaster enthusiasts next year and AT LEAST put in like a small coaster.

^Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is getting an EPIC SkyScreamer
Six Flags St. Louis is also getting an EPIC SkyScreamer
Six Flags Fiesta Texas is getting a fireworks show (I'm sorry but I LOVE fireworks)
Six Flags Mexico is getting a Terminator X Laser Battle Attraction

While I know these 4/7 you mentioned aren't roller coasters, they still look amazingly fun. I know, I know families love the waterparks. I personally don't go there a lot...ever...so when I said coaster, I should have said some sort of ride that I am going to go on every time I go there

SF doesn't release financial info of the sort, but if SFGAm is in fact the biggest money maker in the chain, then there really isn't any reason to add a new coaster, now is there?

The reasoning behind the whole "Great America needs another coaster" argument is that the supply of high capacity rides isn't high enough for the very high amounts of guests, sure, we have a bunch of coasters, but do any of them compare in capacity to Raging Bull? Not really.

I for one agree that GAm does NOT need another one, but it would be nice to get rid of one in exchange...

^That argument people give is BS. If capacity is the issue for ride, a dark ride/Sally shooter will do same/better numbers at a fraction of the cost. As shown by Monster Mansion at SFOG and Scooby-Doo at SF STL, a well done family one will draw huge crowds.

I completely disagree, with the exception of Ragin Cajun' most all SFGAm's coasters have pretty good capacity. V2 is a bit slowed down because the 90 second thing (used to be 60) but the line normally still isn't too horrible. Look at a park like Kings Island which has the slow loading Vekoma flyer instead of the fast-loading B&M version. Also look at other rides like X2, which is extremely popular and never EVER has a line under an hour, and even with the "improved" loading system (removed unecessary rotating of seats) the capacity is still terrible. Sure there's room for improvement but compared to many other seasonal parks I don't find SFGAm's coasters as low capacity (does Kings Dominion ever run more than 1 train on Intimidator305...and thats a gigacoaster). As long as they are operating the rides correctly and maintaining them properly so seats aren't breaking all the time there's no reason SFGAm should have issues with ride capacity.

Personally, I don't take ANY of this stuff like "more capacity" or "we need it". I flat out WANT one. I don't know many people besides SF that really cares about the capacity issues. As long as I get on a ride, I'm good. I hate when people say we need it. We really don't...the average Six Flags goer gets a flash pass on busy days or waits in line. We make sure the time is right and frequently ask questions on what to do on a certain day and how to go about riding rides. I know we don't need it. I know that our coasters have wonderful capacity (taking out Dark Knight which made me sit in a tunnel for an hour and a half) and, admit it. A lot of people use these arguments for no apparent reason. They just want a new coaster that they can marvel at and ride 8), yes, including me.

Darn. I want our park to get a fireworks show. Fireworks are illegal in Illinois aside from the usual 4th of July and new years fireworks we see around here. I wonder if the quote "Good things happen to those who wait" will apply to our park. Probably not.

Like DejaVu2001 said, Six Flags America says hi. They've been waiting for a long time.

^ You're right. However, for some odd reason, the two parks that are not as successful as the rest (SFNE and SFA) both got a very large coaster when they opened. I think that majorly affected their future. They have been waiting a longer time than we have, but they have a larger coaster to enjoy :) (I know they want a new one...but their coaster is larger than our largest one, also, they are not located in very popular areas)

They also have some room for expansion while Great America is surrounded on all sides....at least close to it. The only way the park is really expanding is into the parking lot, and it's for Riptide Bay.

^ Actually, Riptide Bay will not go into the parking lot. It is entirely within the former Shuttle and Go Karts area.
