Chang gone from SFGAm

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

BP u forgot the 500 ft mega giga coaster thats suppossed to take up the whole parking lot and stretch all the way down to the business park on the other side of the highway HAHA Just kidding have a Merry Holiday ;->. Everyone should be glad that we at least get something every season its better than nothing and AT LEAST GREAT AMERICA is still open every single year and not turn into an abandoned closed themepark. Who knows what will happen to the park in the future no one knows.

Darn lol. No getting rid of Iron Wolf? lol. Is there anyway they can make the trains at least a little bit more comfortable. The only problem I have against IW is the head banging left and right. I can recall 3 times where my head banged left and right and I got a headache and couldn't enjoy the rest of the day at the park. Thats only reason I avoid IW. Other than that Im ok with it.

^There are a few tricks that can resolve that....I usually put my hands on my ears. It makes your ears itch like crazy, but it reduces the bang a little. I really wish they'd fix it up too. It could be so much better.

That made me El-oh-el. It's true, families spend more. However, teens and young adult groups usually buy the flash pass more.

LOL you know why I said this? I like Iron Wolf too much xD

I love Iron wolf too that hand trick is not a bad idea Goku. Theres also the head move trick where you move your head to where the direction of the train is going left or right. Theres also the harness below youre ears trick by ducking a little before they lock the train so the harness is at least not close to youre ears. The last stupid one is the stick youre head out trick leaning youre head out for a little so it wont touch the harness. Stupid suggestion that people do when they ride IW if your really want less headbangin some people say they also work for other rides too tried them some of them work and Cole that was just a bad joke Happy Holidays..

I think that six flags would be wise to remove either SWF or that MACK thing that was down all 13 times that I went there this year. I almost absolutely think that there will be no construction for any special "2012: The Project" by opening day. Why? Because they will still be finishing Riptide Bay! Hurricane Harbor opens later than the park. I know I'm totally contradictiong my earlier posts, but I do really want a new coaster. We haven't gotten a new one that is above 100 feet since 2001 (Deja Vu was taken away). If Six Flags wants to keep us crazy season pass and flash pass members with them, they better start living up to their "Six Flags Days".

I don't consider Superman to be a new coaster considering that it is a clone of others. Of course, physically it's "New", but Six Flags could do better than cloning coasters constantly and saying "NEW COASTER!". Couldn't they have added some twisties in? They're consuming money and just adding these clones in :/ of course then giving it to GAdv to spend on a million dollar coaster.

Trust me when I say Great America is better off without Chang. I seen the layout and it's wasn't good. And it would give us a 2nd stand-up unless it was converted to floorless. If we would have gotten Chang, it would have been a parking lot coaster like Scream.

I'm willing to bet 99% of visitors at Great America do not know or careless that there is a Superman clone in Georgia or New Jersey. Clones are cheaper and proven crowd pleasers, which is a win-win for everyone.

Except for us, the crazy people on the internet complaining about our problems...well my problems with not getting a new coaster. Hey, so I know that this is a little (extremely) early to be talking about, but does anyone think we may get a new coaster in 2013?

^^I can back that up, while doing quizzes during a downtime at Great America, not many people knew how many BTR's for SUF's there are. Only the ACE members knew.

I said it before, I'll say it again, Great America is better off without a new coaster. There are rumors of a new coaster in 2012 but I doubt it. Park Management has also said that "Whiizers days are numbered" which is true...that ride can't run forever on spare parts from the old trains and custom made parts are expensive.

CRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUD I don't know that :( Sadness...

As for the Whizzer's days are numbered thing, yeah we get it. BUT can you imagine the public's outrage? So many people grew up on that coaster! I mean, personally I wouldn't mind. You're right, our park has amazing scenery. Except, isnt Viper on a lot and isn't Raging Bull part on a lot???

Coaster in 2012 thing=No. We're getting an expansion this year. We'll probably get a flat that goes around in circles. IF WE'RE LUCKY. I'm kind of hoping that Six Flags cleans up SFA or SFNE. They need it more than any of us need a new coaster. ALTHOUGH, a 300 foot giga wouldn't hurt SFGAm either :)

^A 300ft Giga wouldn't fit and that's cutting it a little close to Great America's height restriction.

Gotta go and ruin my dream  WELL in any case, Gurnee's gotta get over it. Six Flags is what is getting that town attention :)

And they can get parts there?

^^Not sure if that's true, but during Theme Park Review day management said that Whizzer wasn't leaving anytime soon and that even though it's an old coaster it's fairly easy to maintain.

I've really sort of lost trust of what Six Flags says on tip of the mind questions. There are so many times that they have changed their opinions or answers and said something different. Let's just say that Six Flags is full of spontaneous things.

A million dollars gets you nowhere when building a new coaster.

RagingFanatic wrote:Except, isnt Viper on a lot and isn't Raging Bull part on a lot????

If you go back far enough to see if there was a lot, [1], then a good chunk of SWT was on a lot; however, it has since been covered, at least. Scream was clearly just plopped right on the parking lot. Great America is no better than Magic Mountain in this case, though because of a certain ride scrapped in 2004...[2].

I can def agree with this. I mean it's like an old classic rock band. They'll announce their retirement, the fans go nuts and wild and spend all this money to try and see em one last time. Then they announce they're NOT retiring. I mean nothing is retiring soon at SFGAm but you can see my analogy here. I don't know where anyone gets their information from. I mean I try to research info about the park but cannot get any good gossip about the park. I'm assuming certain people here work or have connections to SFGAm?

FParker185 wrote:Spare parts for Whizzer(and any other Schwarzkopf) are easily obtained from both Intamin and Gerstlauer.

Phew! I'm hoping this means that Whizzer can stay with us longer. I mean I can imagine the public outcry once they announce that Whizzer is gonna be taken out of the park and its the last year for it. I sure hope the park has something REAL GOOD lined up once Whizzer is about to go/demolished. If what ever the park comes up with isn't better than Whizzer...I can't imagine the complaints the park will gain and the respect it will lose.

It happened once before, why not twice. That said, never forget SF Great America is a business where Money > Respect. Respect doesn't pay the bills.
