LOOSE ARTICLES Loose articles such as purses, backpacks, and beverage containers should be left with non-riders or secured in lockers. Cell phones, pagers, or other small items should be secured in cargo pockets, zippered jacket pockets, or waist packs. There is limited temporary storage available in most ride boarding areas as a courtesy to our Guests and lockers are available at the entrance to all of our Major Rides as an option.
Six Flags and its employees are not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen items and items that are lost on rides are generally not able to be located and are damaged beyond repair. For everyone’s safety, we will not attempt to retrieve your item while the park is in operation.
This was definitely rewritten recently. In the past, it clearly stated loose articles could not be left on the platform and listed the 9 locker coasters. Discuss.
There is nothing to discuss, yes, the lockers will be optional in 2011. Not sure if they'll be free or not. If they are that will be bonus points, but like I said, they're no longer mandatory. You saw the start of it at the end of the season.
judging on how it's worded, it still seems like they're trying to clarify that lockers are available at Major Rides while Most other rides have limited storage. I would much rather keep the lockers mandatory seeing as the speed up the boarding process and keep the lines moving.

no, no, I think not stopping in here is fair and for the betterment around here. Plus I highly doubt that will last long anyways, most forums get rid of trolls much faster.

Hmm...Yes lockers are optional, but you must use one if you wanna ride anything and you're carrying too many items or have a large prize from a game. I learned that the hard way. I won the guitar hero game/stand last year in 2009 and then wanted to ride Raging Bull, but had to store my prize snake in one of the lockers next to bull for $1.
Yes, $1 is almost nothing but its starts to add up if you plan on riding a lot during the day. Or you can store your stuff in a locker for the rest of the day instead of carrying your stuff around. I wonder whether theres a time limit as to how long you can store stuff in a locker, if you can store stuff for a day or a restricted amount of time?
IDK But anyways, when were lockers mandatory if they're optional in 2011? But like acquaz10 said it, lockers obviously are not free.
Like I said, although this is good news for most people. The one benefit from lockers was faster moving lines. Sure it was only slightly faster, but a few extra minutes is better than waiting for slow moving people to put their stuff away....better yet when they argue with Six Flags' staff over wearing it/bringing it on the ride.

If they are optional chain wide 2011, it might be the best move the chain makes all year. Now if only the drink holders like those at Batman the Ride in St. Louis move to the rest of the parks, they are set loose article wise.
I saw no evidence at all that the lockers increased dispatch time for any rides. The rides took the same amount of time to be dispatched, all this did was increase revenue and upset guests by making them pay more money and some having to ecit the line when the gate checker failed to see the item being carried by the park guest. They should bring back the bins for all rides as this system worked very well and is guest friendly.
I'd say it decreased the wait time by just a tad. With the lockers, there was no need to wait for people to put their items away. The only time there was a hold-up was when a guest would argue or say "I didn't know". Demon didn't triple stack as often with the lockers in place, so there's your evidence of faster dispatches.
Six Flags st. Louis had the souvenir cup holders, those were a pretty good idea seeing as how guests get most upset when they find out that those bottles can't be brought with them.

On rides like RB and BTR wait times were longer not due tp people puttimg items in bins, the lines were longer because people just threw there flip flops on the side and employee's would have to pick them up and put them in the cubicles provded. This caused more down time than some one putting a toy or bag in the bins.

^Well in 2011 you're going to combine flip flops on top of the bins. Unless people are smart enough to put their flip flops away while putting their other items away.

The best way to deal with the articles is if the lockers are right before the station like X2 and Riddler's Revenge, that way people can take their items with them in line and still not slow down the loading (but they should be complimentary for a little bit while they are on the ride). Another good way is when the ride op opens that specific trains bin when the train parks, then closes it when the next train comes in. Seems to work well and doesn't require smart-cart involvement.
Never been a fan of entrance lockers even when they are free like at Universal Orlando, I went on Dueling Dragons once and my friend had a bag so it went in the complimentary locker and by the time we walked through the queue (the ride was a walk on), rode it once on each side via re-ride gate, then walked back down the exit path our free locker had expired and it wouldn't open without paying a $3 fee.

I was one of those people who argued I'm not gonna pay lol.
I think the lockers decreased wait time for the people waiting in the queue. I mean you are about to get in line and there is a crowd of people in front of you and you think they are gonna get in line, but actually they go to the lockers first. You were able to get in line ahead of them and saved a little chunk of time because they didn't get in line yet.

Yeah, I'm sure its a safety thing with the rides operators. I'm sure the area has to be clear of any items or things they can trip on, which is why I've seen employees move peoples ugly flip-flops which only made departure time a tad longer. There should most definitely be signs alerting the customers to put any items that they brought with them into the tubs/bins and if they are gonna take off their shoes then they should put them in the bins as well or into some sort of little storage thing the park provides. No one should be allowed to put their shoes off to the side. They MUST be stored somewhere.
Although last season in 2010, I saw one of those dumb preppy girls make one of the ride operators take off her shoes for her because she was already strapped in for Superman. I was like WTF?? The employess are not your slaves. That got me upset.
^To the last part, sometimes people forget. I have had to have an employee take off my flip-flops on V2 once due to forgetting. And after 20 or so ride on Harry Potter at Universal I have yet to remember to take off my shoes due to how fast they are at loading.

Let me tell you, I've had some dumb requests as well. And it is very upsetting when you have ignorant people like that. but you just gotta hold your head high ;] I really hope that this lockers optional stuff doesn't kill demons launch times....It's hard enough not to triple stack without bins.

(Sigh) I'm not trying to venture off topic here but unfortunately there are air-headed, slow, ignorant people in our society and seeing that girl make the employee take off her shoes for her was really rude. She even laughed when she asked the employee!! WTF?! Ugh. Whatever. If I was the employee I would of said NO. Oh well. you were too air-headed too take em off before getting on so thats your own fault. People....

I remember they had that system at Viper for the year just before the lockers were installed there.
The way I see it, the lockers are useful on rides of higher capacity because there seriously isn't room in the station for that amount of belongings; however, I see Eagle as an exception as it also has a higher capacity but a slower interval. What I'm getting at is I think lockers could be removed from coasters with 2 or less trains. In a perfect world where riders had their loose items ready to place, did so in a timely manner, and knew how to secure themselves this would without question make things better... but we all know how there's those kinds people out there who lack these skills and make it ineffective to revert to the old ways.
I like what the lockers accomplish [tidyness in the station, security of belongings, and assurance of location of said belongings]... but, I think there could be a better way to get the same result and less complaints.

If you think it's hard not to triple stack at Demon, the most straitforward coaster in the park, that might be your problem, not the lockers...
Well when guests have issues, you must help them. So that slows things down. Stack the bins with slow moving people on top of that.
If there is any ride that is really Straightforward, it's American Eagle. I've seen that stack which is just unacceptable in my opinion. Demon has a very short interval with three trains, American Eagle has a very long interval....Eagle should not be stacking.

"FREE PACKAGE PICK UP No need to lug souvenirs from ride to ride. Shop all you like, throughout the park. Your purchases will be held for you near the exit until you leave. We can also ship your items home for a shipping/handling fee."
So I guess lockers are not necessary then if what they say about holding your items for you at the exit is true then. I guess we can actually save some money for once. Whew.
People also need to remember it DOES NOT apply for large game prizes.....for some reason guests seem to think if it can't fit in a locker that's an option for them.
