V2 still closed

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby BrianPlencner on October 16th, 2010, 2:06 pm
All:
I'm in the park (cyber cafe), and just wanted to let everyone know that V2 is still closed. Word on the street is that the problem is electrical. I don't have a lot of details other then that. I know it won't be open today, and I don't think it will be open tomorrow either. Hopefully they figure out what is wrong and get it open by next Friday. But, its not looking good at this point.

That it is. So, not really surprised that it is closed again.

But, I know a lot of people on here like V2 (myself included) so I figured a status update from the park would be a good idea.

It was closed on the 10th and 11th as well as that is the first ride I hit when the park opens. I really hope they repair the problem even though it is so late in the season.

^Well knowing Six Flags, if it's not open by this weekend, they possibly will just keep it closed for the rest of the season and get an early start on off season maintenence for the ride. I know that other parks such as Six Flags New England has already closed down some of their rides for the off season so I wouldn't be suprised. THIS IS JUST A GUESS.

I'd also like to mention, something is going on with raceway as well. On my most recent trip, I noticed signs are missing. The only thing left is the height estimation stick.

It is an electrical problem. Maintenance already tried fixing the problem [too much power to the ride], but when they tried starting it up the part shorted out or something along those lines.

On their facebook they said that they are waiting for a part to come in. They also said to cross your fingers for the holding break next year.

^ They will NOT bring back the holding break. I am 100% sure of it. Intamin has even contacted Valleyfair and Dorney to turn off their holding breaks as well. The holding break causes to much stress on the train which can lead to damage on the train. Why the CedarFair Parks haven't listened to this instruction, I have no idea. Maybe because their just CedarFair?

Source? there has to be something that makes your info credible. Six Flags will always have more concern for safety than Cedar Fair....mhm....Intamin Derail.

Cedar Fair does not need to turn off the holding brake if they don't want to it just means they might have to spend big money replacing the frame of the train several times like V2 has done.

You know so much about holding brakes - well, except how to correctly spell the word you know so much about. :) What a crazy, wacky, backwards world it is we live in.

Wicked Twister at CP looks awful silly this year with half new frames and half the old style (with some of the old ones roped off)

Now that opening day isn't too far away, any word whether V2 will be open on opening day? This will be a slight factor that will sway my groups opinion whether we go opening day or not. What other year's has V2 been closed opening day?

As for the First part of that question I'm sure V2 will be ready for opening day. It was waiting for a part last season....That part didn't come until the last week of operation. That's what I hear.

^I don't believe so for V2 this season. Only thing I do hope for is new harnesses for the ride but it's unlikely.
