Fright Fest 2010!

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Yeah, I know it's going to be more crowded this weekend than last because of the warmer temps (and mentioned that in my post) and the holiday weekend. We're heading there this afternoon, and I already told my kids not to expect to get on Superman or V2 until tomorrow, when we are going at opening. We always try to be there for opening to get as many rides as possible until it starts getting crowded, since we can always come back the next day. That's why I like having the pass and not having to put in a full day.

I remember FF being pretty crowded back when I was in high school (the last time I was at FF before this year), so the very light crowds last weekend surprised me, but it was very windy and cold on Saturday. Monday should be lighter with many people still at work and some schools not taking the day off.

Can anyone tell me how crowded it will be tomorrow?? IDK if Fright Fest is open Columbus Day every year? But I really wanna go tomorrow because its open and Im always off on Mondays. But then again its only open until 6pm, so there wont be any people scaring us, and Fright Fest is only worth it and fun after dark. But anyway, any predicting info for tomorrow's crowdedness would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone! And thanks to the moderators for putting up the awesome music and sounds effects on this site. It really sets the mood! Thank You!!

I am only guessing, but I think tomorrow will be lighter crowds, at least much lighter than Saturday and today, since many people are at work and some schools are still in session. It was very crowded this weekend, but we're heading back again tomorrow hoping it will be more like last weekend, when there was almost nobody there for much of the day. Get there at open.

to figure out the attendence for any given day, I found the best way, every rotating circle is equivalent to 5000 people , anything over 35,000 and it's considered a extremely busy day...

I went last night and it was great! I'm a veteran of Fright Fest, having been scared out of my mind when I was 6 in 1991. I had a hiatus from 1999-2008 and last year was my first year back. I thought it was a definite improvement over last year's. The scare-actor-people seemed to be trying harder this year and were in greater numbers, more things were decorated, etc.

Has anyone seen Love at First Fright yet this year? Why are Jack and Katie brother and sister..? Doesn't that make the title of the production a little off?

I went yesterday and it was VERY CROWDED! Luckily I got the Flash Pass which made things way better than waiting 180 minutes for Raging Bull.

I love the ghost train, although I almost got run over by it. lol Yeah, they had that before, but it seems like it's occurs more often now. I just love the reactions of people running across the tracks. Good fun.

It wasn't that bad between 10 and 2, when we were there. Columbus Day weekend was far worse. Being there at opening makes the experience far better.

Man I cant believe Fright Fest and SFGAM close next Sunday!! :( Ive only been 5 times this year. Im hoping to go one last time this year. Maybe Halloween will be my last day. I did end up going opening day of Fright Fest. I have to say without a doubt this is one of the better years for FF. By far better than last year. I don't have high expectations so it went awesome for me that day. As usual, the park is awesomely decorated for the day and at night its amazing. The actors did a better job than last year. There was a hobo looking clown roaming around the King Chaos area. He didn't even look scary. But that one girl who walked around creepily and bent her body weird was creepy. She too was in the area where King Chaos is and if you made eye contact with her she would follow you and give you evil creepy looks. She did a great job! I think more of the actors are in the haunted houses and Necropolis because there wasn't that many scare actors in the park. But the ones that were in the park, did a good job. Necropolis is my favorite thing about FF and TT2 also! Necropolis was cool because its almost pitch black/dark but barely enough light to get through the path. Kinda surprised there were real cops securing and watching the area. Isn't that what the security checks/metal detectors at the front of the park are for?? The actors hid better than last year. The porter potty is back haha. The song that plays here on this site thats called "Watch Your Back" is what plays in Necropolis. Song # 8. The TV screen is very cool in Necropolis. Im not gonna explain what it is though. Haha TT2 was very cool. Better than last year by far hands down! The strobe lights were so trippy. But you cant stand up though, which I dont understand why would you stand up on TT2 anyways? If you do though "you will get Kicked Out", in the words of the ride operator. Rue Le Morgue was awesome too. Black lights and bumper cars. good combo there. The 7 sins cemetery is back as usual and the water next to Carousel is dyed too. No water rides are open this year. :( Swamp thing was cool. I think Tinseltown terror doesn't really work in place of Southwest Scaritory. Revolution ride is renamed Pit and the Pendelum while American Eagle is renamed Black Widow. The only thing I was disappointed though is that the haunted house is $7 before 5pm and after 5pm its $13. WTH is that??? Does anyone know what that little haunted house thing in Necropolis is? Its a couple of rooms, one of em had a guy tied up to a board and it was spinning while another room had a guy in a chair rocking back and forth crazily. Is that new?? We were able to ride everything. It was almost like a Friday night, dead and slow. All in all, FF was great and Im definitely going back again one, hopefully 2 more times before SFGAM closes till next year. :(

^ That small walk through in Necropolis has been there for most years, but this year is the first time, I think, that it was the insane institution. I remember it being other years outdoors. This year was a first time they made you walk through the little outdoor scenes. The cops by far were the best and the butcher was cool.

I've heard good things about small crowds on Friday's. Will this pattern continue tomorrow? I'm thinking of going if waits are going to be very short I probably will try to go to the park.

Again see my detailed chart for the crowd prediction :)

however it might be skewed only cause there is crappy weather forcasted for Sat and Sun, so Friday might be slightly busier than normal, still crowds should be manageable.

To answer your questions, first off the reason they have real police is because you have the most scare-actors in that area, and the scare-actors sometimes get touched, so they are there so no assaults happen on the scare-actors. In that area, you also have the haunted house, so they can go to over there too. For the why is it $7 before 5, and more afterwards, well the darker it gets, more people want to go into Haunted Houses because it's dark outside. And for the little "haunted house", they had that stuff before except for the tv screen video thing, and they just put it indoors with doors you can look at. Before that, they used to have those doors you could open from outside, and they would make noises.
