Fright Fest 2010!

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby BP317 on September 26th, 2010, 1:40 am
FF has gotten less and less scary each year.

Oh come on, Fright Fest has never been the adult-type event that Horror Nights or equivelent is. I was going to Fright Fest at SFGAm with my family and friends even as a child. Actually throughout the years very little has changed, they have added and removed some ride overlays and switched out some deco of certain areas but other than that the event has always been very similar to what they have always had.
And when you say less scary each year, were you even at Fright Fest 2002 when half of the park was left untouched because of budget cuts and there were few scarectors anywhere? I can guarentee you there hasn't been a worse one since then. They came back the next year with what I think was one of the best Fright Fests of all time.

I'm not trying to argue with you I just don't think your reasoning makes sense unless you are willing to pay a premium for a hard ticket event. And having two operating days in the same day is extremely expensive on multiple fronts, there is no way they would do that without being a being a hard-ticket event (no SPs admitted). Theres a reason Universal and Knotts do not admit SP's. And if FF was a hard ticket event maybe SFGAm could make a lot of money off of doing it this way but that would require dealing with a lot of angry confused people when they all of a sudden change the way they've been doing things for 15+ years.

You are wise and knowledgable on everything SFGA. Convert me oh wise and knowing ones. Tell me where my beliefs are wrong. Please. Open my eyes, so I may be as blind and faithful as thy. I beg thee.

No one here is defending Six Flags on everything they do. The theme around here recently has been hating Six Flags because they have been adding more family attractions, which some of us think is a silly reason to dislike a park. And it's comical that a bunch of people ranting on these forums about how SF needs JPM and how horrible they are for getting rid them, the fact is you have no idea how those contracts worked and if SF determined they were overpaying for JPM then that's that, dumping that company is not going to keep the big crowds from filing in every October and the difference would be determined by the budget which SF would set for JPM anyway.

Cough:The Boo-Line:cough . I guess it was kind of good they got rid of it since at the end of its run before god awful pig man it was going a little downhill but when they used to have dozens of characters and people with chainsaws running around that was a really good show.

Ironically they didn't do an overlay of the Railroad that year because of the construction planned in Hometown Square removing Whizzer to replace it with SUF, the train would not have been able to operate with all that equipment. By the time they changed their mind about removing Whizzer they did not have enough time to plan entertainment for the train for FF so they ended up not operating it. The train was open the next year though during FF and was Scooby Doo themed.

Ah yes you are correct, I remember asking in guest relations about why there was nothing. Is there a reason they have not been operating the train in any fashion during Fright Fest now? Also, I don't think anyone mentioned this that I found on some site, can't find the actual press release it says is there but:

New for 2010 is the SAW LIVE haunted house. SAW is the most successful horror franchise in movie history and it comes to life at Six Flags Great America. Let the games begin as master manipulator, Jigsaw, tests the nerve of all who enter. SAW LIVElets visitors come face-to-face with live actors and the iconic traps based on scenes from the SAW films.

I'm guessing that will be in Southwest, unless they are going to run three full size houses for the first time ever, here's where I found this. Maybe someone can manage to find the press release.

If what that reporter says is true, and the park can pull off some decent theming with the props and noises, A SAW haunted house would be freakin sweet.

Seen all of the SAW movies and love the franchise.

Just checked the SF website and sure enough, they are going to have a SAW Live haunted house in Southwest Territory. Check out the whole list of stuff going on.

^Based on the pics I saw on Facebook, Area 51 is being setup right in front of Southwest Ampitheatre.

For the Area 51 thing though, it says Additional Fee Required. This is unless they are going to have 2 walk-throughs in the Southwest Ampitheater like the Rise of the Demon / Area 51 in which they are separated by a wall so you couldn't see the other side.

Did you not read what I just posted? Area 51 is right "IN FRONT" of the theatre.

For the whole "backlot tour" I think is is mostlikely behind the amphitheater because there are a couple trailers back there and it seems like the perfect spot. Maybe it starts inside the theater, goes out the big tunnel (closest to AE) and then around the back. What do you think? Also, do you think that it will be passholders are free, ticket holders pay for area 51 again?

I'm very excited about the SAW haunted house! I already saw the construction started on it. I hope it is just like the movies!

Both Walkthroughs will be inside the amphitheater, and the various props are just the entrance area.

Notice several new shows this year in the form of "No One Lives Forever" very exciting to have the Trolley show back, in 2006 it added amazing atmosphere and energy to the front of the park. Zombie Jamboree is now the daytime parade with "Full Moon Rocksplosion" as the night parade. Hmmm...More to come soon hopefully. Also notice no Freak show (unless they just forgot it on the site, it seems kind of thrown together).

Also keep in mind that most of the scare zones were not announced, so there are still surprises to come this weekend. I can't wait to hear everyone's reactions on the new areas...

I know that. I was talking about the haunted house / walkthrough which requires an additional fee.

I did not see this posted in here, so I figured I would add it to this thread.

On Saturday, October 16 from 1-3pm in Hometown Square you can meet television personality Svengoolie!

The Chef is a SFGAM employee I think lol. :? :) Whats that one haunted trail that everyone can do? I believe its by the water rides. Maybe specifically part of the entrance is the same entrance for Roaring Rapids err maybe the exit is next to roaring rapids? idk cant really remember lol. Although I do remember how theres always annoying high schoolers harassing the people in costume. I dont work at the park, but I think those that do bother or harass the people in costume should be warned or kicked out, unless you can go up to someone in costume and harass them? lol. Doubt it. I would like to kick those kids out. Man, theyre so annoying. :x Im gonna be at the park this Saturday when it opens and then go on a Friday again. Thrills by day, but CHILLS BY NIGHT mwahahahahahahaha. Let the rise of terror and evil reign over SFGAM!

^It's called Necropolis. The entrance is right by Logger's Run in Yukon Territory. The exit is right across from East River Crawler (Monster something during Fright Fest).

I would assume that the Chef name came from the Chef character that was at Fright Fest in the Seven Sins area.

You know what they say about assuming...

I've never worked as a Fright Fest Character, I merely enjoy the event greatly.
