Trip Question 9/11/10

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby RagingFanatic on September 7th, 2010, 6:51 pm
Hi guys!

So my friend wanted to go to six flags great america with his family this saturday. He was wondering if the crowds were going to be light and such. He was ALSO wondering if he should get a flashpass...basically the proceedures in general. Would the crowd be full etc. Any info you could give on crowds on that day would be great (considering...well you know). Thanks!
Last Visit, American Eagle BACKWARDS 5 times in a row right before the park closed. I cannot WAIT to go back for Fright Fest!

Well it's the last 2 days there open until fright fest on the Oct. 2nd and the water park is closed for the season. Also there is a bring a friend free coupon for season pass.
Hard to say but I would speculate that it will be moderate crowds.

That would be my guess too for Sat. I'm going Sunday and crowds were really light the exact same day last year. I find Sept to be a great month to ride.

This is from last year, and there is a reason I brought this topic back up - trip reports- (because I wanted to see how bad it was last year). I know the topic says 9/11, but in the posts below in that topic, it says someone went Sat of last year 9/12, and lines were 45-60 minute wait.

trip-reports/topic10235.html

So, expect it to be the same UNLESS there is a high chance of rain (I know it's 40% now, but it's only Tuesday, and it can change.), but other than that, I expect crowds. As people have said, there aren't many days left in September they are actually open to the public (this weekend, and next Saturday in September), no waterpark / no train / no Sky Trek Tower / maybe reduced water rides, bring a friend for free, and I have to wonder how many people don't want to go Sunday because of the event they are having, or because of Grandparents day.

I was surprised and kinda dismayed to see Sundays event on the calendar just one day after 9/11. If they are going to have a day for that it should be in May or something not so close to 9/11. Least they didn't have it on 9/11 or I am sure Fox News would have been blasting Six Flags big time.

Anyone know If I attend this Sunday, will I be a significant minority because I am not Muslim?

^If that were the case, I think that it wouldn't be so packed day because really how many Muslims are going to come? Christian day was some day, and does that mean that every Christian is going to come to the park just because it is that day. For that day, they don't even have a Christian concert!! What's the point of going that specific day if they don't have someone like Third Day, Casting Crowns, or Point of Grace?

The thing that worries me about Muslim day is the hatred there might be other people that aren't Muslims towards Muslims. Will there be a protest because Fox brought it up this year? I just don't want to deal with the hatred people towards Muslim at the park. I'm worried that's going to happen in line, or somewhere around the park, and I don't want to be stuck in the middle of it.

A couple years ago I actually was at the park during the Muslim fest this was A MAJOR MAJOR MISTEAK. We were staying at the Residence Inn Deerfield (Wonderful place to stay by the way, very clean) and from our hotel (23 miles away) the traffic was so bad that from starting out after finishing breakfast at 8:30 we actually arrived in the park after 12:30 then the lines were horrendous everything had at least a 30 minute wait. There were so many crowds it was ridiculous, and they weren't buying park food they were making their own outside of the Southwest Ampitheater so It was also adding to the heat. I tried to call last year to find out if this event was going to be taking place again and no one would tell me a thing I just wanted to avoid it, but they were probably worried that i might be looking to start something which was totally not the case. But yeah avoid this day like the plague if you can just a heads up I waited in line for Roarin Rapids for 2 hours or more!!!

I miss the old days when September wasn't that busy. And here someone might say it's because of capacity, and attendance has gone up, but I don't think that's the case. The thing is that they have 3 private events in September, and than the first Friday, they have another private event in October on Friday, so people try to squeeze in these last days they are open in September because they are closed 3 days in September, and it's not like they are open the whole week.

On Sept 11 (Saturday), they also have Cheerleaders. And you know next week Saturday is going to be packed unless it rains because they are closed Sunday, and closed the next weekend to the public. If it rains 60% chance though on Saturday (as the weather people say even though it's Thursday, and things can change), that sounds good to me unless has it's not just regular green lingering rain that will wetten the whole day.

^I think it was last week Sunday. I don't know now because they took it off the events thing, but that's what I think.

Even if you are, why does it matter? You afraid a terrorist attack is going to happen in the park? Lose the ignorance.

The park in 2010 has hosted Jewish, Christian, Gay, Latin, Autism, Polish and Armed Forces events. So yes there was a Christian day.

Hey guys I have another question. So, he was thinking about buying a Gold Flashpass. Online, there comes a time when it asks you for the date and time. All that came up was 11:00 AM. So, does that mean that you need to get it by 11:00 AM or you can only get it AFTER 11:00 AM? Please help! He needs this information tonight!

Hey Galvan316: Why does the park wait to sell Flashpasses one hour after the park opens?

America's Roller... no no thats not right.... The Enchanted..... nope.... The Cleanest Theme Park in the World!

It was in July but you never know when something is going to get flip flopped in the schedule especially with the economy the way it is. And i would say that a good 50- 60% of the people in attendance that day were muslim. AGAIN NOT HAVING ANYTHING AGAINST ANYONE I AM SIMPLY STATING IT WAS REALLY REALLY CROWDED AND LINES WERE TERRIBLE WHICH WOULD BE THE CASE WITH ANY SPECIAL GROUP DAY!
