A Quick Flash Pass Question?

I am going to the park probably not until Fright Fest and my friends want Flash Passes. I have never bought one but what is the difference between a regular flash pass and a gold flash pass? The gold is more expensive so I know that is better but what does it do differently than a regular flash pass?

A regular flash pass you wait the time of the line, but you don't have to wait in line. For gold, you wait the time in the line (not in the line actually) but it's like 40% less than that time in the line. It might be a little more percentage wise than that, but that's basically it.

An example is Batman the Ride's time for regular people is about 30 minutes.
For the flash pass, you make you reservation, and than you wait 30 minutes to enter the flash pass line for Batman.
Now, if you have Gold, and again it could be 40% or a little more percentage, you would only wait about 18 minutes, and than go in the flash pass line.

Someone on another forum said it's 50% - the line for Gold. I don't know because Six Flags doesn't say.

Regular, you wait the queue length. Gold you wait around 5 minutes max. Platinum is the same as gold with a re-ride.

Platinum is actually shorter than gold. They actually scaled back Gold to a certain percent, even though it is still short enough.

For example, when I had a gold, it was 5 minutes for Raging Bull and Platinum was no more than 1 minute or 2 at most.

It is like a 90-95% decrease as opposed to gold which is something like 70-80%....plus the re-rides on platinum

If you're only going once this year, and it's during Fright Fest, a Flashpass is worth it. I went with one of my friends a few years ago during Fright Fest and he wanted the Flash Pass so he could get on as many things as possible. I really liked it, and many times we just reserved a ride while we were waiting in line for something else. By the time we got off of Viper, we could go ride Raging Bull. We were there with a large group of people and most of them got on 3 rides all day; I think we got on 15. It was nice, but I'll never get it again simply because I've ridden everything there and I can wait an hour if needed to ride something there. We had the Gold Flash Pass by the way. I thought the advantage to Gold was that you only waited a quarter of the wait time.

^Im only 15 currently and cant visit the park as much as i would like, also living almost 2 hours away from SFGAm is another downfall... But currently i got my temps. And im already planning more than 10 SF trips for next year so im very likely to get a season pass

Had a Season Pass for 2 years and I live 15 minutes- 30 minutes away so I can go up to 10 times a year!

I was in the same situation, except I go 4 times a year. It still seemed nice. If your friends want the Flash Pass, then get it.

We went to SFGam in July and got the Gold Flash Pass. After using it, I really dont think there's any point to buy the platinum. It was announced around 3pm that the park was at maximum capacity for the day - and with our gold pass - we'd set it for a ride, walk to the ride - by the time we got there, maybe have to wait a minute or two before getting into the queue line, and hop on. The longest line all day was the Giant Drop, and we were mad about waiting for ten minutes.

We seriously probably could have set it for Raging Bull - reset it as soon as we got in line - then got off and walked right back to the line to get back on. It was that quick.

As much as I loved the flash pass though - I'd like an opinion...do I need one for Friday, October 8th? I'm figuring with the park only being open six hours, and it being a friday night - it's gonna be a necessity.

ok. So does everyone in my group who wanna use the flash pass have to individually pay full price? How much per person? Also, is there only 1 re-ride only for platinum? So if you get a regular flash pass then you have to make a reservation 30 minutes for the ride you wanna go on? Do you actually have to go up to the ride and reserve a spot with an employee who also carries that Q-bot thing or can you reserve "wirelessly?" Such as can I make a reservation to ride raging bull while im eating in the food court? And if I decide to leave and come back same day, im assuming you have to give em back the q-bot before I leave for lunch right? Is there a limited number of each level flash pass? Oh yeah, last time I went to SFGAM, they charged $20 to park in the front. Didnt have the option of paying $15 for the back lot. Guess they dont open the back lot anymore till the front gets full? Looks like the season parking pass holders have their own area to park in? I wonder if we have to pay $20 every time now and have to park in the front or did they only charge $20 that labor day weekend and will it go back to the $15/$25 parking option?

There are 3 different levels of Flash Passes available. There are a limited number of each level, pass.

Someone in your group will be in charge of carrying the Q-Bot around the park with them. It's a little keychain looking device with a little screen and a couple buttons on it. Yes you have to give the Q-Bot back if you leave the park for any reason. (I'm pretty sure I walked out with it to go to the car though - dont remember)

You can make a reservation to ride any ride (from anywhere in the park) - as soon as the Flash Pass attendant at your current ride resets your Q-Bot. You can be in Queue for Raging Bull, and reset it for Raging Bull - having a very minimal wait time - if any - when you get off.

Keep in mind, I've only used the gold pass - and this is my experience with it.

Can the flash pass be used for Coasters After Dark CAD??

Flash pass cannot be used for CAD. They must be turned in at park closing time.

The Percentages are:
Gold 70% Reduced
Platinum: 90% Reduced.

The Gold was 75% before the platinum was introduced. These were the percentages for 2010, we'll see if they change in 2011.

Does my group have to pay a fee every time we are at the park to use a flash pass or, is it a one time charge and we can use it as many times we want through the season??

^You only get it for that day you purchase the service. Each return visit would require you to rent it again.

I'm not sure if they still do this but if you're a season pass holder and you rent it more than 5 or 6 times you can earn a free one. They did that for me & a friend in 2008....
