Six Flags Great Adventure 8/24-8/26

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby DejaVuGurl1203 on August 28th, 2010, 3:11 pm
Where to begin? This park is simply amazing. We picked perfect days to go too, as it was rainy/misty and not many people were there! I suppose I'll begin with the first day.

We got to the park around 10:15 and went in the direction of Kingda Ka. We had to wait behind the ribbons though for the park to open, and once it was 10:30, we were walking towards Kingda Ka. We were close to the front of the line. Kingda Ka was still testing so we had to wait at least 15 minutes until it would open. Once it did, we walked up and got in line for the front row and had to wait as we were the 4th group in the line. Once we did get on, one of the trains on the other side got stuck coming back into the station so the ride went down. After they fixed that, they brought the other train backwards into the station, and it seemed they were doing some work over by the end of the launching area. We were sitting there for nearly an hour. Finally, it was back up, and we were good to go. I'd already ridden Top Thrill Dragster so I pretty much knew what to expect. It was a pretty good ride. Oh yeah, it was misty during the ride too. Jason was nervous as heck, but he ended up liking it.

Next, we went to El Toro, which I was very excited to ride. It was about a 15 minute wait and we went in the 2nd to last row. AMAZING RIDE!!!! El Toro has to be my 2nd favorite coaster. It was awesome. Next, we rode the only open side of Rolling Thunder. Ehhhh, it was an OK ride, but rather rough and whatnot. Wasn't planning on riding it again unless the other side was open. Oh yeah, plus we went in the back, so it is probably bad in the back... Next was Bizarro. We waited I think one train for the back row. It was raining a bit harder during our ride. I thought the audio was cool and I loved the ride overall! I have some fascination with floorless coasters so I was pretty excited to be able to ride it.

Then, we went ahead and rode Runaway Mine Train. Thought it was fun, I liked going over the water. After going out to lunch and then buying ponchos, we headed over to Nitro, which I was really excited to ride. Line was very short, probably waited 5 minutes for the back row and they had all 3 trains running. I enjoyed the ride very much, but after only one ride on it I couldn't decide if I liked it better than Bull or not. After that, we went over to Skull Mountain and waited maybe 5-10 minutes for it. We thought it was a pretty good ride.

We decided to ride Nitro again since Batman was down. This time we rode it in the front row, and it was still raining. After this ride, I had just about decided that I like Nitro better than Raging Bull. We waited for Batman to open up since it was testing, and it did, so we ran up to the station... only to have it close down for "weather". I didn't really understand what weather they were talking about, it was only a misty rain. So we then proceeded to go on Blackbeard's Lost Treasure Train, a fun little coaster.

We went on El Toro again, another 15 minute wait. This ride on El Toro was not as smooth as earlier's ride.I think this time we were in the very back. But still an amazing ride! Next was Bizarro again, this time we waited for the front row. I really enjoyed the front row, but Jason didn't seem to have a good ride on it as he banged his head a lot. We walked back over to Nitro and got on almost right away wit an empty station. As we came back into the station, no one was in our row, so we got a reride. I definitely like Nitro more than Bull. It was a lot of fun.

We walked back over to El Toro as I wanted to ride it again. This time it was probably a one train wait, awesome! Amazing night ride on it. Jason wanted to leave early, so we ended the night with Kingda Ka near the back row which was a very short wait. I think we left around 9.

Nitro- 4
El Toro- 3
Bizarro- 2
Kingda Ka- 2
Rolling Thunder- 1
Blackbeards Lost Treasure Train- 1
Skull Mountain- 1
Runaway Mine Train- 1

We didn't ride Superman this day because there was a huge line and only ONE train running. Baman also had one train and it was down every time we went to it.

The next day, we went to the park a little bit later, got there at about 11:45 and went straight to Nitro which had a very short wait. It had rained in the morning and maybe rained a little while we were there, so not many people were at the park. I don't remember everything else in the exact order, so I'm just going to post ride totals:

Nitro- 4
Bizarro- 3 (1 re-ride at night!)
El Toro- 3
Rolling Thunder- 1 (other side was open too)
Road Runners Railway- 1
Batman The Ride- 1
SUF- 1 (30 minute wait, longest wait of the whole trip)
TDK- 1
Ferris Wheel- 1
Parachute Drop- 1
Sky Ride- 1
Twister- 1 (I thought this was better than King Chaos. I liked it a lot.)

After we had a night ride on Nitro, we had maybe 15 minutes to park closing and we ran to Kingda Ka, only to have the line closed off. The security guard told us it closed at 9:50, and we got there at 9:51. They had decided to try something new and clear the ride by closing. We were upset we didn't get on it, but then we decided to come back in the morning for one more ride on it.

So, the next morning, we got to the park a little after opening because I had no idea we were still going. I thought that last night Jason had said he didn't want to be driving home too late, but apparently he was just joking. Anyway, we rushed over to Kingda Ka to find a line. Of course, this was a much nicer day, completely sunny and not a cloud in the sky. We waited a total of 30 minutes for the 2nd row. It was a nice end to the trip. I really wanted to ride El Toro again, but we had to get going.

-Let's see, I bought... 6 shirts (I Conquered El Toro, Kingda "Freakin" Ka, a Bizarro stats shirt, a Bizarro logo shirt, a cute SFGAdv shirt, and a Batgirl shirt), 4 on-ride photos, a Kingda Ka shirt for Jason, and a stuffed white Tiger for Jason.

-Oh yeah, we also saw the Temple of the Tiger show which was pretty cool. We rather enjoyed it.

-I liked the height sticks that ops were carrying around at the rides. Pretty convenient.

-This park is beautiful and awesome. I enjoyed my time there and I am hoping to go back again in October (and we will be getting flash passes, lol).

It has some really nice airtime especially the hills before and after the turnaround. Did you get to go to the animal park?

It really does! It is a total airtime machine. I absolutely loved it. It seemed to make Jason a little sick sometimes though. There were times when we could re-ride it but he didn't want to. We thought about going to the animal park, but we didn't. Should we sometime?

I think you definatley should, especially if crowds are heavy that day. Im not the type whos into going to the zoo, animal park ect. But I really enjoyed my time there. Its neat seeing animals you could never dream of being close too standing right next to you! And I think Its included with your season pass? Anyways Im glad you enjoyed your trip. Im trying to get out there before fright fest or for next years opening day.

I would be scared to do that animal thing as an animal could ram your vehicle. These are animals, and they are unpredictable.
