SFGAm to announce 2011 addition on September 1st

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

This is more like what the average family visit is like.

Parking: $15
Admission (using the Coke can discounts): about $150
Lunch at Car
Dinner on the way home
Soda through out the day around $10
Souvineers (lets say the 2 kids want a t-shirt each): $35

so it is actually far less then 450. That what my family used to do

The parade is a good addition as long as you havent seen a good night time parade like Spectro-magic/Main street electrical, then you will find it very lame due to very short running time/few floats etc.
As for next year, if they are going to add something to HH then it is a waste due to the limited hours it is open during the operating season. The park is big enough since it only operates between memorial day/labor day(this year it wasnt even open every day since this week it was closed during the week) and then opens late/closes early and often the weather in this part of the country makes it not suitable for people to swim. If that is what they are going to do then think they would be better off doing nothing and save the money for a top-notch addition to the park.
As for getting rid of the go-karts, they cant do it enough as no real theme park wastes the space for that type of attraction.

What the park needs is a attraction that is high capacity and can be enjoyed by most everyone who comes to the park. And that isnt a coaster(though i would love a maverick/dive coaster) but a very good interactive dark ride. something along the lines to Men In Black/Toy Story/(cant remember the name) of the one at Holiday World.

I think if you switch dinner on the way home to dinner in the park you have most people's visits.

Glow in the Park is a BIG addition. TDK was only One Million more than Glow, so it was not cheap.

This is the internet, and it is a message board, and people come to these boards to voice their opinions and in most cases people only voice their opinion when they feel displeased about something. So naturally, people come here to discuss roller coasters and thrill rides, and yet when people voice their opinion against continuous water and family related expansion to the park..people are charged by the moderators by being told to "stop whining", "you will still pay", "the park needs nothing," or their threads are locked up etc.

This isn't my website, and I do not pay to use it, so therefore I have no right to say how it should be run, i appreciate the resources and conversation it provides, but this year above ALL years there is unprecedented arguing going on.

Look, we all understand that the park has been treated well in terms of getting an addition each year, but this site attracts thrill seekers. I don't know if I would consider a Glow in the Dark parade much of an addition if i may add. What percentage of park goers do you really think actually took advantage of a short parade at 9:00 at night?

With respect to Dark Knight, who in the main demographic of roller coaster riding folk actually respects that poor thing? I enjoy themed rides, but nobody cares about it and it seems to have gathered the title of "Ride to Waste Time On".

Buccaneer Battle, can anything really be said? Defend it all you want, but the thing is empty 75% of the time. All of that queue space they made for it cracks me up every time, considering they could have built another bathroom there or Johnny Rockets. I like it because there is never a wait, and I can cool off...but it seems that 90% of the crowd could care less and not even kids care.

I really do apologize for going on a tangent, but I just don't see why we aren't entitled to discussing a little discontent without being told that we are "whining."

Rides like X-2, Kingda Ka, Diamondback, Intimidator, and Maverick are built...and our last coaster going on 7 years ago... a copycat Superman? I guess I just don't see these amazing annual additions like some claim...

Either way, I guess I am beating a dead horse here... I am sure I will get flamed or told to "move on elsewhere." I just think everyone is entitled to vent without being told their idea is idiotic essentially.

We may be "annoying" or not understand the economics, and sure we will continue buying, but its because there is no competition nearby and we all need our fix in the summer. We will just have to keep hoping I suppose.

/end rant... please don't kill me moderators.

Couldn't agree more. Unfortunately one of the few responses your post has gotten was by someone who pointed out you got the time wrong on the parade and therefore attacked you for not doing your research.

For each park? If so, thats just a terrible investment.
Top 5: 1) El Toro. 2) Maverick. 3) Millenium Force. 4) Diamondback. 5) X2.

^ That is where im not sure, if its per park then your right its a terrible investment. But if its total for the 5 parks it ran then not so bad.

It never was disclosed in the conference call that figure.

I really doubt that the glow in the dark parade would be 8 million per park. I dont think that six flags would waste money like that while there in debt..... hopefully lol.

So how about staying on topic. So if you're a fan if SFGAM on facebook and post any info about the new addition to Hurricane Harbor for 2011 you will not be able to comment on anything on their page. Can't write on their wall, comment on pics or like any statuses. Ur almost completely blocked, but can still look at their page. And this is sooo funny because this has happened to me and some other people too. I dont care, I never commented on their page ever except this one time lmao! Oh and they changed which puzzle pieces they decided to reveal. Looks like too many people were complaining about HH's new addition. Last time I checked there were about 4 pieces revealed and now they covered 1 and changed another piece thats revealed. So now theres only 3 pieces missing from the puzzle out of 49 which is weird because the puzzle is supposed to be revealed on wednesday. Only 3 pieces revealed?? The piece that had a part of a palm tree on it is covered up. Looks like we were right!  2012 will be our year, coaster enthusiasts!

Lol ik i got banned to. I was the first person to post the link and stuff to the hacked photo. XD But anyway, on the new puzzle reveal board, i heard a rumor that the reason they have a new puzzle is because they changed some information which was on it. I dont know if i would believe that though because some of the info on the puzzle looks the same. But who knows.

You mean to tell me, they cancelled the Rollercoaster we were supposed to get, sent it to another park that Does not need another one, to give us a 130 ft vertical drop water slide? Seriously?

I question the brains of management in this company....severely!

^You mean to tell me that old management was extremely smart in giving a park that already has a crappy stand up, another stand up? Oh and the park already has two mouses. So then they would have two pairs of the same type of coaster. Where's the logic?

GASM was in constant need of repair every single week and the costs was adding up. Adding a reliable B&M makes sense. Plus it wouldn't cost that much to put it in. Plus it would be easily marketable because there aren't any stand-ups in the area.

When the water park hits capacity pretty much every day isn't that a tell tale sign that it needs something new? Do you know for a fact that its a 130 ft vertical drop water slide? No you don't. Don't complain before you know what it is.

I question the brains of you...severely!

/sorry for the harshness of the post but its addressed to everyone BSing the water park expansion. Its a last minute decision because, yeah you got jipped. But it makes sense in the long run. I mean why have two pairs of the same coaster?
