SFGAm Question

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby TwistedSTEEL666 on July 27th, 2010, 7:09 pm
Hey guys and gals, I got a question.

Does SFGAm have a rule against you listening to your iPod in the park?
Will they say something if they see you with headphones listening to your iPod in the park?

Thanks

You can listen in the park. However, the iPod AND head phones must be in a pocket during all rides.

The thing I get worried about is that it's a very expensive thing to bring into the park. If it falls out of the ride, it might be trashed. On top of it, the lapbar or over the restraint might go over the object, and damage it, or for Superman, you are basically having your hold body potentially on it.

I bring my Iphone on all the rides. I usually wear cargo shorts and keep it in a ZIP pocket. You can never trust buttons.

Yea, me too. Zippers are the most reliable form of security for you pockets.

I think it would, you're after all sitting on it! I think putting it in a side zipper pocket would work best.

I never had a problem when I brought mine. I also always listen to it while I am riding. They never have told me to take them off or anything. They did not like the fact I was walking around the park (well technically it was only in the raging bull area so we can get in line through the flash pass lane over and over again) in bare feet though :P I have some words of advise though. Definitely bring pants that have zippers, or buttons if possible, and make sure the thing you are putting in your pocket can not fall out. If you dont have any of that (like I have a few times) try to bring down the harness even father then you would normally. Try moving your legs back if your not "big" or suck in your gut. This also secured my iPhone while I was riding so I could listen to it. Also dont be afraid to use your back pockets on most rides. Raging Bull and Viper are perfect rides as you never leave your seat, however Superman is a very bad idea as you are forced out of you seat temporarily on the pretzel loop. This is also the hardest ride to keep stuff safe on in my opinion. If you are ever afraid of loosing items just put the item in your shoes and put the shoes in the shoe locker. If its small like a credit card you can of course still ride with your shoes on too.

Two words

Fanny Pack

Sure, it may not be "cool" to have one, but I've never had a problem with lost items on rides. I've been using one for the past 15 years to keep my wallet, cell phone, keys, loose change, etc safe.

Another word of advice would be to have one of those small zip-lock sandwich bags with and put things you don't want to get wet inside of the fanny pack. So, no matter how many cups of water get dumped on your head (you know who you are LOL) my stuff stays nice and dry! :D

Cargo pants are less dorky, and I've never had a problem with anything. I also bring minimal stuff with me in the park, just wallet, keys, and cellphone. I also usually have a pen or two, but who cares if you lose a pen. Expensive stuff I either leave in the car or don't bring at all because I either don't want to leave it in the heat in the car, or I am paranoid and think someone will break into my car.

I dont like putting my phone in my pockets during rides because on superman it felt like it was going to fall out so when the ride started I had to hold on with one hand and put my other hand inside the restraint so I could hold my pocket shut and same with almost every other ride except the wooden rides. That is why I give my phone to my friend to hold

^Get some zipper pocket shorts. I have seen them at Old Navy, Wal-Mart online, and Kmart. I too had the velcrow shorts when I brought the camera, and it was just too much of a hassle to worry about the camera in my pocket while riding a ride like Demon. With zipper pocket shorts, there is just no way you can loose anything.

One other question or two...

When it comes to headphones, I have JVC HA-S150 FLATS (over the ear headphones)
Image <These...

Now, I don't think I would be able to comfortably fit them in my pocket, they would have to hang around my neck. If riding a water ride like Roaring Rapids, I'm afraid they might get wet and not work anymore.
And there's nowhere else I can put them.

The other option I have is to bring my Apple earbud headphones, those little white ones that came with my iPod. The good thing is that I can fit them in anywhere (a small waterproof zipper camera case that attaches to my belt for headphone/ iPod/ and Phone storage). The only thing about those Apple earbud headphones is that they can be uncomfortable if in the ear too long.

What should I do? Bring the JVC headphones (superior sound quality to Apple earbuds) and try to find someway to keep them dry on a water ride, and find someway to comfortably put them?(Around my neck the whole time, or hanging out my pocket)--OR---Bring the Apple earbud headphones and sacrifice superior sound quality in favor of small compact headphones that can be stored easily anywhere on me, along with a little pain? Well, no pain if they're put in correctly.

What would be better?
PS-I need an answer ASAP because I'm heading to SFGAm Saturday.
