Hey I was wondering, has SFGAm made any recent progress on restoring the original theming of the Demon?
I know the one thing I want to see return the most is the waterfall over the first corkscrew. ...and one other thing, how much longer will that horrible Strident Gum wrap be on the Demon's red train?
You are never going to see the waterfall return to Demon, that waterfall seriously damaged the track to the point that the section of the track that is there now is actually that of Shockwave.
As for the Stride Gum wrapped train, does it really bother you that much? I mean seriously who cares
Isnt there any way that they can restore the waterfall and have the track not get wet? like extend the waterfall by like 3 feet or something or put a special barracade there?

The question is, why would they do that? I mean It would be great for them to add the waterfall, but since the waterfall is not an important part of the ride, the park would rather just leave it alone.

Maybe to bring back some type of originality to make the ride exciting again or get new people to ride it. Besides its just sitting there anyway doing nothing might as well do something, besides during fright fest how cool would that be since they have stopped doing blood river.

This is exactly what I was thinking. They are trying to get more people on this ride, and doing this would actually get people riding it again. Slapping on some new paint, re-theming, and adding old/new effects would make the ride nearly brand new in most people's eyes. The problem is Six Flags is usually too cheap to invest into new theming since Time Warner was no longer in charge of the parks, which in my personal opinion is a pretty bad move and its hurting their parks. Sometimes its the small things that make a great ride.
The only way they could add a waterfall again is if they push it so far out that no water hits the track, but adding in wind to it it's probably impossible to gauge that.
I'm sure with proper maintenaince the track can be wet all the time, it just takes frequent inspection and repainting that section with a high quality paint annually, I have always heard that the main issues is the rock structure's framework is in such bad shape it can no longer support the weight of the water. Plus can't be in that good a shape as PGA's were removed completely due to that reason.
Not to mention that Demon is a nearly 35 year old coaster with more than likely a very limited life span left. Also the ride takes up an enormous amount of space that can probably be better utilized in the future when the time comes.
Favorite Wood Coasters: The Voyage, Ravine Flyer II, Thunderhead, Balder Favorite Steel: Voltron Nevera, Steel Vengeance, Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping Parks visited: 232, Coasters Ridden: Steel: 894, Wood: 179, Total: 1073
I think you might have missed this in the previous post.

Demon will definatley be hard to replace. Its a long and skinny coaster. Something like Chang would have fit well there, with the turn around before the drop.
Anyways I have a question. What other themeing was there on Demon besides the waterfall?
Top 5: 1) El Toro. 2) Maverick. 3) Millenium Force. 4) Diamondback. 5) X2. Coaster Count: 167 (41 Wood, 125 Steel) @Coaster_Cole on Twitter
It wouldn't be that hard to replace if it's wasn't for the train. The coaster itself is on a land, but there is a line for Demon that could be taken out, and moved elsewhere. There are tons of line that Demon doesn't even use anymore.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"

There also used to be more queue houses on the other levels that have been replaced with grass, the only switchbacks left are on the top level before the station.
If I'm not mistaken, there was another rock fixture for the other loop. and there was an AWESOME sign, that was removed.
The sign/most of the original theming was removed due to religious groups complaining about the Demonic theme. Fright Fest 05 was really the first time they brought any of it back, including the pipe out front with the red eyes, the theme song, and changing the logo's on the front of the train back to the original logo (which are now airbrushed).

I could be wrong, but I don't think that waterfall is capable of working consistently again unless they rebuilt the rock structure (or at least heavily rehabbed it). The past few years it looks like most of their budget for these type of things has been going towards re-modeling bathrooms and replacing various roofs so I wouldn't count on it anytime soon.
The only thing I see happening to Demon anytime soon is a paint job, but that goes for about every coaster in the park. Demon is a better ride than Iron Wolf (much better), but they are both in the same boat...as long as it runs it's doing its job.
Yeah I dont think anything is gonna get done on Demon. But would be awesome would be something totally awesome for Demon just in time for Frightfest! I mean, it is the Demon!
