American Eagle or Viper

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby DejaVuGurl1203 on August 3rd, 2010, 2:31 pm
My answer was Viper before, but now it is definitely Eagle. Eagle is AMAZING, and this year I've been getting so much more airtime. By the way, I prefer Red side. :)

I absolutely love the Viper, but the Eagle, red or blue is the best ride in the park in my opinion, and it seems to be getting better with age! Viper is a very close second. Both rides are pretty smooth for wood coasters, but the (still) amazing first drop on Eagle puts it out in front of Viper in my opinion. It seems like I get airtime on almost every bunny hill on Eagle, and the helix is just insane- it feels like you're being wound up on a slingshot and whipped out of your seat on that small hill right after the helix.

Viper because I like how intense it can be, and I like a good twister coaster.

On a SIDE NOTE: What's been going on with American Eagle: Red? Last time I went to the park (7/23/10), AE:R was closed all day. Is AE:R still closed or is it running now?

The last I heard Red side is still down. Possible that Weber doesn't believe that the park needs to run both sides. Stupid.

To answer the topic question, American Eagle is by far my favorite rollercoaster in the park. Red side ROWS 1-3(first car only)!!

I still havent gotten my SFGAm tat cause im too indecisive of what i was gonna get but for months now Ive been set on gettin a Shockwave silhouette but I still find myself leanin twords AE, i just love it.

So go ride AE red in the front car, airtime is scrumptious!! ;)

I'm really shocked how evenly split everyone is between these 2. But that's great. It will keep the lines balanced!

American Eagle Backwards. That's the only time I care to ride either ride. Rather go on Screamin' Eagle at SFStL.

Wow, Screamin' Eagle seriously? That ride has ZERO on Eagle Red, SE has been running awful this year (Been to SFSTL 5 Times) and its weak and forceless.

I am going to have to say Viper. Just such a great roller coaster with some good airtime. American Eagle was great when it was backwards but now its just not as thrilling after you reach the helix, although both are very good rides.

I'm actually going to do the same thing you did. I'm flip flopping to AER from Viper. I could just ride AE all day.

Ive mentioned this many times in the past in other posts but American Eagle all the way baby! Its faster, and for me more importantly, its has by far bigger drops. I don't even care which side Im on and which side wins, I love AE! Sorry Viper, ur just not my type.

Viper is my favorite wooden roller coaster and third favorite ride at Six Flags Great America. I think Eagle's first drop is way better than Viper's first drop, however Viper's air time beats Eagle's air time big time. Eagle's helix gets annoying and is very rough! I never get tired of Viper, In June I did a marathon of 6 straight rides on Viper and each time on it got better and better. I think both are my favorite wooden rollercoasters!
