Please Help Multiple Questions, My first trip in 7 years!!

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Hello,

I am visiting the park next weekend and I have some questions. I haven't been since 2003 and I would greatly appreciate the help.

1. I know that you can't bring purses. fannypacks etc. on Rollercoasters, but what about other rides like Bumper Cars or Roaring Rapids? Also what about cell phones on coasters?

2. Can you bring bottled water to the park?

3. Okay my cousin and I are overweight, but she's quite a bit bigger than I am ( yes, we plan to lose weight, but our families are going next weekend so..) what rides are okay for bigger people? I've researched this, but I couldn't really find answers that is specific to Great America. I'm guessing that Superman, Batman, Vertical Velocity are probably out.

4. What is the Jester's Wild Ride? I'm looking for rides that the whole family can enjoy together. My cousin and I are the only ones who like coasters etc.

Thanks again in advance!!

Hi,

I hope this helps:

1. While its generally frowned upon, I've seen purses/fannypacks on both of the rides you mention.

2. I don't believe you can bring in any bottled water (or any food/drink for that matter unless it is for a special dietary need) From their website:

May I bring my own food and beverages into Six Flags Great America?
No outside food, beverages or coolers are allowed to be brought into Six Flags Great America. However, exceptions are made for Guests with special dietary needs to include food allergies and baby food/formula. Guest should contact Park Security or Guest Relations when they arrive at the Park for approval to bring in special dietary foods. The special dietary food containers will be marked and dated to clearly show that they have been approved for entry into the park.

3. I am a big guy too (6'1, 280) and I can easily ride Demon, Dark Knight, Raging Bull, Superman, Ragin Cajun, Whizzer, all water rides, Little Dipper, Viper, and virtually all of the flat rides. Iron Wolf is very tight, but rideable. Batman, V2, and Giant Drop are out.

4. Jester's wild ride is very suitable for families, both of my kids (age 4 and 5) love it. It will get you dizzy, but does not go extremely fast and does not go high at all. Here is a pic:

1. For the other rides (not roller coasters), they still have bins for putting stuff. I think with a purse, they won't let you ride with it on something like Whirligig.

2. I do beileve they will let you bring in a bottle of water. The reason being is due to passing out. They don't want anyone to pass out. However, I think it's only 1 bottle of water. If you can't bring it in, you can always go back to the car, but I think water they don't care if you bring it in. All other food or drinks, you can't bring in though.

3. For the weight, I think it really has to do with how far your stomach sticks out. You could weigh a lot and be a wrestler, but yet do their stomachs really stick out. They are a lot more muscle type of people. The concern rides especially I would say are V2, Superman, and Iron Wolf. Though, I have just seen someone get turned away from Batman the Ride. If your stomach is flatter, you shouldn't have such a huge problem, but if it's not, the best thing is to get these rides first so you don't wait 1 hour and half, or maybe a 1 hour, and get turned away. I would say V2 is the most worrysome ride as I seen the most people not fit on that ride compared to the other 3 I mentioned. Iron Wolf I say is the second worrysome ride.

4. It's a boring ride in my opinion - Jester's Wild Ride. Everytime I seem to pass bye this ride, their aren't that many people in line, or on the ride. And it's not a huge capacity ride either, so take a spin, but don't expect greatness or anything.

Thank you both so much. For the weight issue my stomach isn't huge, but I have big thighs( I'm 5'8 230). She has a bit of both. I just don't want to buy a Flash Pass and can't really ride what I want. I've been on both Wolf and Batman before, but that was about 35 pounds ago.lol. I really want to ride the Raging Bull again.

I guess it's best to leave my purse at home, but my mom and sister will be carrying theirs.

Thanks for the Jester's Wild Ride info, I've been researching the rides and that was the only one that I couldn't really tell how thrilling or moderate it was.

1. Given your weight you'll have no issues pretty much at all.

Heres a guide I wrote for you that includes some helpful tips:

post181906.html#p181906

Also remember that you can always go up the ride Exit and ask the ride op to try out the restraints prior to waiting in line. But given your height/weight compared to mine (I am alot taller and heavier for now, then you) and I can fit on everything in the park, youll have zero issues with any of the rides.

2. Regarding the water, You are allowed a small bottle of water inside the park, also there are drinking fountains at every rest room as well as you can get a 6 oz. Cup of ice water from any food stand.

3.Loose articles must be secured in a zippered pocket, fannypacks are usually allowed assuming you can get secured in the restraint system.

1. On majority of the ride you are going to be asked to put any bags or anything similar into a locker. Most major thrill rides have them including Iron Wolf, Raging Bull and Superman. You can of course carry on any cell phone, but make sure you won't loose it. I personally put my iphone into my back pocket and sit on it and that seems to hold it down pretty good. On some other rides though you will be forced to hold onto your stuff on the ride (Roaring Rapids for example), and some others you can put into a bin (Giant Drop).

2. You can bring bottled water into the park. It has to be the average water bottle size though (like 12 oz.). They will not let you bring in any other drink into the park unless you hide it from security, which I don't recommend you do as they are pretty good at catching people.

3. Based on your previous post I think you will be able to get onto all rides. You can also test the restraints outside the ride to see if you fit. If you still are unsure go through the exit and ask if you can try the restraint, but in all honesty I think you will be fine to ride everything. The only one I can think of that you may not be able to ride is the Little Dipper. I have never seen a large person ride that yet and the seats for the cars are small and dont leave you much room for the restraints to come down. I would ask before riding this one for sure.

4. A small flat ride suitable for families and smaller, younger kids. It spins around in circles while it glides up a small piece of track going back and fourth. Its pretty gentle.
