"Hurricane Harbor - Best Water Park In The Nation"

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Coastermonkey61 on July 12th, 2010, 5:09 pm
So, maybe I missed this, but I just saw a commercial for the park. It said that Hurricane Harbor was voted the best water park in the nation. The only stuff I found online was the park site saying it was and Ultimate Waterpark saying it was, but it doesn't say who actually voted for it.

Can anyone fill me in here?

It's like the "cleanest theme park in the world" deal. They can call themselves that all they want as there is no way to prove it.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, one of the Hurricane Harbor parks was voted best Water Park?

And didn't they win Cleanest Theme Park in the World at the Golden Tickets a few years go, too?

^Not since 06 as that is as far back as I could find in 10 minutes of looking. They will also never win it in the future.

Well, I don't have proof but Hurricane Harbor isn't even the best waterpark in the midwest. Noah's Ark in the Wisconsin Dells is and it's not even close.

Not sure why they'd have such blatant false advertising. INVESTIGATE!!!

^It's not false advertising, it is giving themselves an arbitrary award that has no way to be proven.

Horrendous lines just to get into the lazy river, and hour waits for 10 second waterslides ... its just not big enough. Then again, I would rather have a new ride than any expansion in there as the reason I go is for rides and sometimes if I just want to lay, I go there.

^The Lazy River entrance is not built right (The beginning of the water should be very close to where the flowing "river" is, and it's not.), and they don't have enough tubes even if they use all the tubes they do have, plus tubes get stuck in that one slow spot which is just a dumb area to have (They should put faster jets over in that area. - I wouldn't mind going in that area under the spray showers, but that area I might get stuck over there, so I don't.)

For "horrendous" lines for the back tube waterslides, to me it's about the way they operate. They don't let you get set in the tube slide you want to go down until the lifeguard is done with the other person, and they only had 1 lifeguard for 4 tube slides in the back last time I was there. Last time, they also only had 1 lifeguard for the bowl slides, and they had 1 lifeguard for the other 2 tubes slides in the 6 slide complex. And I think there is no way you aren't going to find "horrendous" lines on a really hot day because that's where people are going to flock to. They are sweating, and they are going to go to the waterpark in order to become cooled off. Buccaneer Battle isn't really helping, and for awhile you had Yankee Clipper closed with the water rides people are really riding were Roaring Rapids, and Logger's Run in the regular park.

I don't go on the water slides anymore, I waited an hour and a half for Tornado one year and wasn't going to do that again. I only go to Skull Island when I go to HH.
