It obviousley goes farther than simple maintenence because if a park maintains an attraction the way the manufacturer guidelines then the ride should not go SBNO. Manufacturers reccomend a schedule in which parts should be rotated out and maintenence tasks should be done and if the park follows it up to the manu's standards then the ride should not have to close, ever. Obviousley there are external factors but its something abnormal, whether its a problem with the ride, HUSS, SF, or all of them (which it probably is).
I've had Revolution break down quite a few times with me. Once it stopped and stuck with the exits in the wrong spot. Once the friction wheel just died. ha. I don't think the park maintains Revolution well at all.
I don't mean the ride having breakdowns, thats inevitable that any ride is going to have breakdowns, I mean periods like this where the ride is closed for an extended period of time. Also due to the seasonal nature of SF's business they have to deal with the fact that who knows how the ride is going to react when its started up after sitting for half a year in harsh weather without operating, and adjust their maintenence according to their operating schedule.
If they really cared for the ride, couldnt they remove the main components like the friction wheel and the car? Wrapping it doesn't help. The restraints have been destroyed to hell.
Removing the gondola over the winter would be uneccessary. Unless they are doing some major rehab, bringing in a crane and putting that many man hours towards something like that would be a waste and those man hours could be used getting the park up and running. If the restraints are in bad shape cosmetically those could be replaced very easily and quickly even during the season with the ride operating, however they would need to allocate a budget for it.

That would be a nice touch, but I don't think that would fit where Revolution is now. If they happened to put one up where SSA was/Chang was supposed to go, that would be nice.
If Webber wanted to make up for Chang, he could install a Giant Frisbee in the SWF spot and a SS in the SSA spot if its not used for a waterpark expansion. Otherwise it could go it the trailblazer arcade spot?

They could put up a small Screamin' Swing up-charge attraction. Everyone go yeah!

Well yes it was a exaggeration. I will confirm this tomorrow when I go eat Johnny Rockets (Me and a friend are trying to ride Giant Drop over 100 times in one day so it would be my only chance to see it).
I was there today and can confirm it is indeed running again. The part they needed came in today. It was down most of the day. It had riders around 6:00 pm
I was at the park on Saturday and Revolution was down the first part of the day, then opened at some point mid-afternoon. I got in line with my friend and was next to get on, when we smelled something like burning rubber. They shut the ride back down and we never got back in line again. I'm not sure when the ride re-opened if it did, but we were bummed out because Revolution is one of our favorite rides. I had no idea the problems have been ongoing, because Saturday was the first time we weren't able to get on it that I remember.
Hopefully they figure out a way to keep it, but the smell of the burning rubber was enough to keep me away for the rest of the day.
^It's the drive tires that's causing that on Revolution. The ride must not be in rotation with the motors, and it's rubbing against it.

Okay, guys. It was down for a couple weeks because of an issue with the rotation motor from what I heard. They ordered the part from Germany and they shipped it via boat a while ago. It is operational as of 2 days ago. Revy and Chaos are tempermantal and even with the best upkeep would have issues. The rubber scent is most apparent on humid days/when it starts to rain as the drive tire looses friction on the keel and essentially "peels out".
