Revolution is down for the count!

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Huss Park Attractions still manufacturers parts for all the former Huss rides. Frisbee's are pretty simple rides, but when something breaks it's usually a huge part in a near impossible to get to location :)

That is understandable so they probably are waiting for the piece to come in so its probably just sitting there for that reason. However that one time when revolution was down parts of it was missing then, so this might be either a major problem or Six Flags is waiting for a part or are removing it. I wish they would say something on Facebook to let us know!

FParker,

Do you know by chance how often then maintenance directives go out from Manufacturers? and How are parks with possible defective rides get the directives?

Looks like the last public safety directive was in 2006.

A Flying Bobs would be cool, the wipeput would be great a good high capacity ride what about something from the days of yesterday like a whip or tilt-a-whirl, or zipper?

You can wish and wish but they would need much more room. did they totally gut the county fair games gallery for wizard quest??

Well if you mean safety bulletins, there are no set times they are sent out, generally they are sent out when a problem arises with one and it seems like it could affect other units. In that case the bulletin is either mailed or faxed to the park or carnival owner, whatever the case may be.

Just checked there are no recent Frisbee Bulletins. Last one Huss sent out was about 3-4 weeks ago regarding UltraSonic testing of Gondola Booms of BreakDance rides. Last one for Frisbee was 2006 which was a serious enough issue where I won't post the bulletin here, but it is what kept Revolution down for nearly the entire season.

This is the same issue addressed by that service bulletin. Again.

Again? So most likely off most of the rest of the season? Yeah, they should just pull it out. I'd rather have a shade structure than a SBNO ride.

Ya but you have to think about it. Revolution is a ride that can accommodate many people, its in the middle of a walkway where people are bound to just walk right into line and it still manages to get guests on the ride frequently more then some of the flats at great america.

Just hoping they either keep it, or put something better there. Whoever said tilt a whirl I sort of giggled at because we have the Fiddlers Fling and that thing is like a tilt a whirl on steroids providing an almost exact same experience.

They talk about Great America refurbing Revolution. They called it Revvy! That doesn't sound legit.

Six Flags made all of the parks shut down their individual twitter accounts awhile ago. They wanted all attention directed at the corporate one.

I don't agree with you that Fiddler's Fling is just like the Tilt-A-Whirl. In my opinion, I think that Fiddler's Fling is more like a Scrambler mixed with a Tilt-A-Whirl, but the only reason I would say Tilt-A-Whirl in the picture is because cars go around in a circle and are separated. However, a Tilt-A-Whirl to me is a much funnier, and better ride. At every turn, you don't know which way you are going to turn. I always felt that Fiddler's Fling was a good ride, but now I'm barely even going on it. If it was a great Tilt-A-Whirl, I know for sure I would be on it every visit maybe even multiple times. The Fiddler's Fling force is more like a Scrambler in which you are pushed to the side of the car whereas a Tilt-A-Whirl if you get enough force, your body is pushed towards the back of the car.

I didn't bring up putting a Tilt-A-Whirl in Revolutions spot, but hey I would like one at the park.

When Shapiro came in, I think he removed all if not most of the old rides that are found alot. Like the Tilta-Whirls.

^He removed the one that was at Magic Mountain. For that, his excuse was probably capacity. That was a really ugly looking Tilt-A-Whirl though. Some Cedar Fair parks have Tilt-A-Whirls though like Dorney Park, maybe Michigan's Adventure, and Cedar Point.

Ouch. That sucks, I can't imagine the park wants to put up with that.

Should should load up the equivlent of 250 lbs per seat and run it til the problem becomes "serious". Give the ride a proper "send off" :)

Should take it out and replace it with a modern equivlent of it, not even a Huss Giant as nice as that would be, but even just something like...

http://www.technicalpark.com/typhoon.htm

Tech Park has cleaned up their act in the past decade, they now make surprisingly high quality rides for an Italian manufacturer, they have sold over 50 portable Street Fighters and at least a dozen or so Typhoon's around the world. Either way, the park just has to stay away from the Zamperla model :)

can even have it pass through a building like the prototype at Power Park

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMzdmpnokt8

At least something from at least last decade vs the mid-late 80's like the standard Huss Frisbee we got now.

So now everytime a ride goes SBNO for maintenence reasons it's being removed? I guess V2 has been removed, what 6x now? Still lots of season left and lots of people to come through the turnstyles, i'm sure SFGAm wants it open as soon as possible.

Well, we're talking a potentially fatal and catastrophic flaw that has appeared for the second time.

But constant maintenance like this will begin to get costly, no?

yes, almost an entire season's worth of work on a closed ride is very costly.

That and V2 is a big 7.5 million addition roller coaster while this is a flat ride that was moved from Great Adventure. There is a reason why it was moved from Great Adventure to here.

I think it's cause they enjoy adding 25+ new rides and attractions in one year, then removing 15-20 of them in the ensuing sub-decade :)

I agree with BP this seems like regular maintenance to me and I would bet it will be running again withing the next week or two.
