Revolution is down for the count!

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby shockwave guy mark on July 5th, 2010, 11:45 pm
Alright so it was just confirmed to me on Screamscape that Revolution is still not running. I know it was closed the last three times I was there and I also heard from someone on my facebook that the ride is still closed? Anyone know whats going on with it? I have ridden the ride this year, but that was one of my first trips.

Screamscape stated that they might just end up removing the ride, but what do you guys think/know?

I don't know that we should trust this, but it seems Great America has a twitter?

http://twitter.com/sfgreatamerica

They talk about Great America refurbing Revolution. They called it Revvy! That doesn't sound legit.

That really does not look legit at all! I mean its a possibility that it could be getting refurbished but all the parts are still on the ride as far as I know and that is a little odd usually. Not to mention I believe HUSS discontinued manufacturing parts for that ride.

When rides have problems elsewhere (I think something happened in another country to a Huss Frisbee.), you never know what they are going to do with rides. "It has been brought to the attention of the committee that Huss has issued a SERVICE LETTER No. 29-07 regarding fatigue defects in the gondola slip ring retainer of the “Frisbee” ride." When Chaos had the accidents, all the Six Flags yanked them out. When the Rainbow had the accidents, I think all of them are gone. So, are they willing to keep it or not?

I wonder if it is having similar problems that kept it down 2 years ago

First off, what could really replace such a ride like that? It has a weird combo of thrill and tame.

^Anything. Anything that's a better ride. - a Flying Bobs, a Wipeout, a Chance Revolution (/ KMG Afterburner - I don't care if it's a trailer ride)

I would like to see some of Vekoma's new flat ride designs. Or maybe we're finally getting a ferris wheel. Maybe a special contract with Intamin to make a two or three armed Sky Wheel?! I can wish.

Clear some extra land for a screamin swing?
Top 5: 1) El Toro. 2) Maverick. 3) Millenium Force. 4) Diamondback. 5) X2.

The company is in no position to be removing a perfectly adequate Frisbee for a quite costly Screamin' Swing.

David,

I really think you just like to hear yourself talk. First you say:

david wrote:I would like to see some of Vekoma's new flat ride designs. Or maybe we're finally getting a ferris wheel. Maybe a special contract with Intamin to make a two or three armed Sky Wheel?! I can wish.

Then you go on to say:

So which is it bud? (BTW: You have probably one of the most tasteless signatures ever)

Personally, I think that with the problems the park has had with this ride, coupled with the service directive that Huss apparently has issued regarding Frisbee rides, I think that park would be better served removing the ride.

This was posted a few weeks back from Great Americas Twitter:

"Seems all of you want a new Roller Coaster next year! I'll make sure to get this information passed on to the right people!"

Didn't we determine that it seems illegitimate?

It doesn't look legit because they are saying things like "hell of a" and other things that the person on Facebook doeskin say. And if it is legit wouldn't you think that they would be advertising it like they do with their Facebook page?

Someone posted on the parks Facebook page and they responded that they are awaiting a part for some repairs.

But if it was illegitimate, wouldn't there be quite a bit more rumor type stuff? It seems the page is mainly for getting the word out and stuff, it's probably legit. IDK.
